If he was such a domestic abuser, his ex with whom he had been married to for 3 years wouldn't had spoken out in his support if she was abused. I always saw his acting as the opposite. He sort of just chooses different shades of the same basic eccentric character, with a few exceptions among his filmography. I never understood why he was so famous to begin with, really. I like several of his films, as well as his roles, but he has done far more bad movies than good, and his performances were never really a staple of his films until he starred in the Pirates franchise. Even then, Ol' captain Jack got a bit boring fairly quickly.

I have always liked how Johnny went so far from how he looked on camera in every way he was different in each films, so many famous actors just play the same role and it just looks like you’re watching the same movie
That's why I love him so much. I like anime because, even with the same voice actors, you can completely get into the character without seeing them as someone else. With Johnny Depp, it's the same. When you see him playing one thing onscreen, you're not constantly comparing him to another role or seeing him as some other character. By contrast, every time you see Tom Cruise, for instance, you see him as every other character he's played.

Johnny Depp is brilliant. I absolutely love him. He's such a versatile actor. Honestly I've never not enjoyed a role played by him. Jack Sparrow is my favorite, I'd marry that pirate lol He has problems too though. He seems very depressed, more so in recent years. His substance abuse is getting out of hand and it's really sad.

My husband did not like Depp until we saw Donnie Brasco. Since then, if Johnny is in a movie, he'll watch. And I don't care about his personal life. I've always admired the fact that he makes the movies he wants to make. Most people who do that aren't very successful. He is incredibly talented.

Michael Wuerstlin well his mom died around the same time Amber & him were splitting and they were very close. I don't know if you've ever lost an immediate family member but it can mess you up for a long time. I lost a little brother in 2007, and nothing can prepare you for that kind of loss. Even knowing it's coming. He wasn't supposed to live to be a year old, he made it almost to 23, he was severely disabled and one of the happiest most beautiful spirits I've ever known. Told he wouldn't make it my entire life so it wasn't like we didn't know that day would come, you know? But it was still very devastating and it took me years to adjust.

Anne Salvesen he was fired because amber heard accused him of abusing her and he was fired but it later came out that she was the abuser and that her allegations were made up (most likely because she wanted to get divorced, but she wanted to take more money and things that she wouldn’t get if she just got divorced, she also has a history of being abusive in relationships) but I guess at that point he was already fired

Depp is one of my favourite actors of all time, and I really hope he gets his life together and stop drinking so much. Because even though he’s not really in the best light at the moment, it seems to me that deep down he is a decent person. Also before anyone says anything about him beating Amber Heard, just remember that the only proof she has is a few pictures of her with a few bruises on her face, which does not prove anything. It’s his word against hers, and there is no proof that he did beat her and no proof he didn’t

Stanhope actually did an OP-Ed piece on HuffPo where he tells of how Johnny was actually the one abused during his very brief marriage to Amber Heard. Stanhope also pretty effectively explained exactly why Heard has leveled the domestic abuse allegations against Depp bc he finally, after literally giving that sociopath every single thing she had asked for in the divorce, he only balked at giving her the large Penthouse compound of 4 apartments on the roof of an exclusive apartment building in LA where, during their marriage, Heard moved in her sister and various friends where these friends actually lived rent-free. She's a grifter in my opinion and I truly detest what this no-talent model-turned actress made Depp endure just one day after his beloved Mom passed away. It's really tragic and fortunately video and text msgs have surfaced that unequivocally prove that Heard was prone to bouts of psychosis and would attack Depp, she was cheating with the man she dated right after she filed for divorce, Elon Musk and finally, she, along with her Hollywood hanger-ons type of friends travelled, wined and dined and basically luved a charmed life on Depp's millions. All this while he was on location filming "Alice Through The Looking Glass". Man, I just hope all of this is brought up in court in February and Heard is ordered to at least pay Depp's legal fees bc she damn near ruined a man's over 35 year career and hoped to leave him penniless as well.
Depp is a *phenomenal* actor and that should be enough. I don’t care what happened in his personal life, people deserve privacy even as celebrities, and I don’t think people are fair with him.
