The Unused Item in Crash Nitro Kart 

It should’ve been an item in Nitro Fueled. You use it to hit any random racer out of nowhere.

i wish they added the story mode of CNK into NF

You know, I wonder if that voo-doo doll item could have been the frenzy without having a teammate in a race, because on CNK you did have the option on single player to do races without teams if you were not on Adventure Mode, but then without teams the frenzy is not possible, and this is where the voo-doo doll item could have come into play. Also, the NTSC-U version icons, I had it on my XBOX, but the "Other Versions" icons my cousin had it on the GameCube, and we're both from the US.

This bugged me soo much as a kid, I’d pause it, notice the unusable power up and freak out lol, and back then there was no simple way of googling it to get info on it, so good to see exploits now a days! 😀👍

I didn't know about the different character icons! I got CNK in an old video game store, and the box of the game featured the NTSC Crunch icon- but the game had the other one! As a kid, I always believed the Crunch on the box cover is actually a hidden bear-character that you have to unlock the same way you get Penta in CTR. Then I completely forgot about that for like 15 years... until now!

As a suggestion, maybe you could make a video covering all the pop-culture references in the level names? Like a lot of them are pretty obvious puns or alliterations, but a bunch of them are references to popular media, like "Crate Balls of Fire" and "Weathering Heights" (both from TWoC)

That's a disappointment: I assumed from the voodoo doll icon that it would have acted like a shield but if a missile hit you it would actually damage the person who fired it etc.

You should talk about Gone a bit Coco, that cut level from Twinsanity, it's really wanted by fans and sadly we just some pictures and like 5 seconds of gameplay, but some developers and GameHut (director of TT back then) said the level was almost finished and playable on development demo discs, but no one has footage, and some discs must have the level but on some old TT or Activision office at this point...

There was also a cut item from Crash Team Racing. It was a spring the just made you bounce really high.

With the different character icons for different regions I always thought it was weird when I looked on the back of my UK copy and saw the really weird looking US crunch icon that didn't show up at any point in the game

There’s another difference with the NTSC-U and PAL version of the game which is the loading screen for Terra. In the NTSC-U version the character featured on the loading screen was Coco. In the PAL version the screen instead showed Cortex knocking Oxide off his kart.

Interesting how an item turned into a feature that's part of the gameplay. Look at CTR as well. It had an unused SPRING item that made you do a big jump. It was excluded from the game, due to being replaced by the small hops that you can do with R1/L1 on the playstation controller. Also, the shortcuts were designed around that mechanic. Not to mention, the spring item... i think also let go you out of bounds WAY too easily.

I remember that appearing in a capture in the manual of the game. In the same manual, theres was an icon of a yellow lightining as a power up. Maybe it was deleted too?

The should brought these items back in nitro fueled

I wish we got the story and nitro kart items in nitro fuelled. I was disappointed-we didn’t get a cnk story mode.

i've grown up playing crash nitro kart i have also seen that item. cnk is one my of my fav games i remember playing it with my dad and sister....

There was a lot of creepy pasta about this item back in the day

I wasn't impressed by the Team Frenzy mechanic either, in fact I don't miss it.

I used to do the exact same thing with pausing the game to see the items. I couldn't work out why I couldn't get specific items in the races. Always wondered why the character icons were differnet between versions too.

I grew up with the PAL versions of everything

It’s sad that there’s nothing new to play with Crash right now other than CTR Online (if it works) or the frustrating Crash 4 106% completion.

They should've just kept the doll and removed the team frenzy mechanic if you ask me

If Wumpa Lewis needs a similar facts about Crash like this one on CNK, i got a couple from the OG CTR, the cut Spring Power Up which made you jump, that's it, comparable to Super Mario Kart's Feather which made it more situational than anything else, Penta's Voice with the whole "Penguin Yay 1" was a mistake and the whole story of that is interesting to say the least, Fake Crash and Penta had endings for CTR's Credits scene but were cut and later implemented in the Japanese version, Oxide was playable at one point during development but was cut due to his size and lacking the time to shrink him down...

The icons on the NTSC-U version are only on the PS2 version. The icons on the Other Versions are present in the NTSC-U version of CNK, but they are on the GameCube version of the game. I own both the PS2 and GC versions of CNK so I was able to prove this fact. I don't know about the Xbox version as I don't have the Xbox version of the game. But, I think those icons are on the Xbox version too.

Fun Fact: Any version of Crash Nitro Kart GBA uses the NTSC-U version of Crash Nitro Kart character icon. I suppose the NTSC-U was made earlier than other versions.

I never got a chance to play Crash Nitro Kart, but however, I did play the original Crash Team Racing, and I can play the Nitro Kart tracks on CTR Nitro Fueled

I think most of the NTSC icons were used in the GBA version, as I definitely recognise... THAT Crunch.

I must have the NTSC-U version of the game because that's what my icons look like. Even when I was little I hated how Crunch's icon looked and when I saw gameplay of the other version for the first time I was a little jealous of how much better they looked.

Believe it or not i used to own that very same PS Magazine demo disk, but sold it long ago :(

I think The Hidden Palace has the demo, although I'm not sure if that is THE demo.

What about the jungle like race track that appears in the intro cutscene of adventure mode of CTR that simply does not exist in the game?

i think that you should talk about the beta models of crash that went unused in crash of the titans...you know it's good to find cut content in underrated games that were once our childhood....
