Thank's Kara. I watched the old 2k21 guide and this one. Had no idea that PS4/5 had a wired connection option. I have 2k23 PC and PS4 (to play w/ friends) and use the same PS4 controller on both. My tempo has been all over the place on both versions. I haven't calibrated on PS4 and once I selected wired usb I have less tempo inconsistencies and hit a lot more perfects. After my KEG Farm disaster on PC, I calibrated the way the game says to, not how you explained. The game says to hit 10 consistent swings. Had no idea you could split 5/5 or 6/4 depending on what you needed purposefully slow/fast. So, to fix my PC tempo, I did the 10 slow/10 fast, then found how to connect the PS4 controller input in Steam. Apparently I had Joy Con and Switch controller input selected there. Once I selected PS4 on Steam, tempo is back to where it should be. Been driving me nuts the last two weeks. Appreciate the info Kara.
Brand new to this game and using a controller (DS4) on a PC and on Mac. In short, pretty clumsy problem solving this isue: In putting mode, either on the practice area, Victory Arena, and playing a few holes, I can’t zoom from the ball to the flag. Tried ever combination button and trigger. Ideas? ~ Thanks ~
The PS4 calibration is just so stupid! I like a faster than default swing, but I don’t want to risk calibrating knowing that you can’t go back. If you delete your save files, does that also delete your coins and fittings, or is that stuff saved on their server? I haven’t played that much so I don’t have good fittings anyway, but I can’t go back to being bankrupt lol. I kind of hate this game since they patched short courses giving you stuff. I have no desire to play societies with inferior clubs, but also can’t stand career mode so I don’t want to grind. I basically just mess around with legend 3 click and that’s it. Btw polling points are weird there too. On legend it’s perfect or bust. Center point then left/right that fall just into the dark gray. Nothing in between, doesn’t matter if wireless. Putting has a point in between on each side, so I think it’s a speed thing since that moves slower than regular shots.
Yeah ps4 is not the best if you're any bit off in consistency. I think some absolute monsters could hit very high perfect rate on ps4 because it's more likely to round to the perfect, but even I would struggle with the bigger misses. I do believe 5/5 calibration will set you back to default though (5 fast/very fast 5 slow/very slow) so if you want to recalibrate you will have an option to go back if you're scared of save game reset thing. As for the technical question, I believe you save your fittings and VC as that seems to be server side. But when I go on my PS4 game, I have to refit my clubs (the fittings don't transfer to the clubs, they're just in your collection) and I need to spend all my skill points and clothing and all that. So anything you unlock will be there, just need to redo your character and all that.
Back to the PS5 controller issue. My swing is naturally fast and I calibrated 10 fast. From the beginning I could only hit black fast and if I slowed down it will be black slow. I tried calibrating over 8 hours and nothing changed. Not sure if Steam doesn’t recognise the controller or not? I really need help because I also want to play more competitive.
Uhm, hmm. Well the first way to see if the controller is detected properly is to make sure in the Steam Settings itself is if you go into the controller settings and make sure the PS controllers are selected. It'll have a special UI pop up when you're changing them. Next, I run the game on big picture mode when I run on steam. This will make sure the controller is detected. Otherwise, if you run in regular mode, you need to check the popup and make sure the Dualshock configuration pops up and not some general controller pop up. Beyond all that, if you struggle with the speed, the ps5 controller is sensitive. 10 fasts will help, but eventually you need to slow down and control the swing. It's difficult, especially if you're used to flicking a stick quickly for most other games, but it can be worked on. I would calibrate once, swinging as fast as possible on each of the 10, and then just practice. You can't get it any faster than the fastest you can swing, so once you've worked ALL of the configuration issues out to make sure it's not that, just keep practicing. Playing for a grey fast is viable, top players like cr_io on PC use grey fasts. Just need to aim more. Good luck!.
Kara, great Video thanks. Now if you only have ps4 (like myself) bluetooth controller (not wired) What would you do? Calibrate? Or not calibrate? Im thinking is it worth it or not, i cannot decide if its beneficial or not.
I think default or faster is good. I have had better consistency with quicker tempo on PS4 wirelessly. Tough spot you're in, but PS4 tempo wise isn't lacking. I just hate the 30fps.
Question: Besides being new to the game...This is my 1st time using a controller which is the DS4 with my PC. I'm not getting the vibration? Now, do I need to download what is called: "DS4Window"?
Hi Kara. My controller is a Ps5 dual sense which I use on pc steam. The analog sticks are very very sensitive and I keep hitting black fasts. Do I calibrate 10 slow swings if I only hit black fast?
does tempo differ between clubs? seems to me that the “perfect” tempo with a driver is faster than a perfect temp with a wedge, especially when trying to pitch or splash
It doesn't shift. The downswing timing is always the same. It feels different on pitches, splashes, chips, because you have to hold back your stick longer before pushing forward. This can mess up your downswing timing, making it easier to hit a fast. Especially when you partial and it makes the tempo slower.
What if u calibrated on amateur or the easiest difficulty and then take 10 perfect shots or the best u can with even or normal tempo does that change anything. This is what I do and I'm on wireless ps4 and get perfects some slight fast sometimes a slow but yeah once on in a while I get a random black slow from nowhere or if I don't pull back all the way get very fast. I have to go all the way back feel the stick until I can't go back and ever so pull up or flick fast up to keep it straight. I usually take a one or two swing not practice but check swing to see the lag or get my muscle memory back before swinging on third shot. Let me know if difficulty settings effects calibration if you have a larger white zone then when you back to pro it confuses the whole process or makes it null?
Not sure of the exact mechanics, but if I had to guess, it looks at what your input is, and if it's slower than their default, it'll count as a slow even if you're hitting perfect because you're playing on Amateur.
