If jomez next day coverage goes behind a paywall, disc golf in general and dgn will take a huge hit. Almost no one can stay not spoiled of the results for days. And thus will not watch the post produced coverage, most of us anyway. The sport in general, and the amount of viewers (live and postprod.) won't be enough for a stunt like that for years, maybe never. And giving in to greed now, would just result in a "shooting in your own foot" scenario.
PDGA doesn't like the bunker rule for the same reason they don't like island rules without drop zones. They can skew ratings. They allow rules exemptions all the time for island holes with drop zones. On the pro tour that is. No one at lower level events is even asking for exemptions for island rules. I'm sure many TD's already use bunker rules the same way they use island rules without asking. Even just having a drop zone on a non island hole is extremely common...and requires a rules exemption for limiting a players OB lie options. If you say "you can't throw from where you were last in bounds...you have to throw from the drop zone" you need a rules exemption. No one outside the pro tour is requesting exemptions for these things. Might as well just use the bunker rules and not tell them since that's what's happening for other things already.
The reason for next day free post production is that I think they have over shot the mark on monetization. It's not that it's not worth it to pay for the subscription, it's that I don't think there's enough eyes on the sport at the moment. The more they do for free, the better. Free spectator passes, free next day post. It will grow viewership. Of course I understand that the DGPT deserves to get paid, but I don't think it works yet with so few eyes on it. If I were a billionaire trying to keep pro disc golf alive I would just continue to bite the bullet on profit to see if it can be actually profitable longer term. More viewers is better for sponsors, concessions, and long term growth. It certainly needs a billionaire to be charitable in the meantime. Let's see how long he stays onboard.

u guys r crazy if u think any top player is going to the world games a week before r world championship and Rick's round was not all that this course was so weak
