I agree with the others. But ask him about his life, I sat and talked the most of my siblings with my Dad and Mom, and wished I would ask more and listened. My Dad was in the Battle of Bulge, so you can imagine.
Miles D Thanks Miles. I’m glad my dad is still able to go out and hike 8 miles like we did that day. Try the beans and eggs. It is a great combo. The beans I used were just in a plain tomato sauce so if you use a full flavor brand like Bush’s, I’m not sure how good it will turn out. Thanks again for watching and for commenting!
Although not designed to cook on from what I remember about them, these kits ended up being a favorite to many. I've cooked on mine plenty with good results. These days I try to figure out the most nonstick meals to cook, makes cleaning up go better.
although I have been a subscriber, I just found this cook set video,,,, wonderful quality content...... and GREAT interaction with your dad ...you are blessed!...
Beans and eggs together!!! What a clever idea. I would never have thought of that but now I am going to add this to my outdoor repertoire. Great idea. Are you now going to begin more frequent videos? I hope so.
Thomas L Carpenter the beans and eggs thing wasn’t my idea. I got the idea from a English Breakfast. There are other videos if you search that. As for the more frequent videos, I hope to make more as I can. It’s hard for me to get out a lot and away from family. But I will certainly post more when I am able. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
I liked the idea of poaching the eggs in baked beans! I have never tried that, but it looked good. We did have baked beans for breakfast in Ireland, though. Gotta have some HP sauce to go with it
Your going to get me divorced, ha...lol, I've dug out all my old mess kits and ordered way to many because of you. Its alot of fun. Just acquired the all steel boys scout mess kit. Others on the way. Thanks for the videos, keep em coming!
Dear John, I fond of all your videos and all your activities. I am also collect different mess kits. You did great job about mess kits and canteens history. I am also have some collection. Hello from Ukraine
Thanks but I can’t take credit. I got the idea from a couple of you tubers I follow that did a version of The English Breakfast. I have to say, it is pretty good! Thanks for watching!
Hey there brother! Great video spending time together with your dad! I do the same thing to once in a while 🙂 Can’t wait till the next video this is Big Boy Frank from Texas Peace out ✌️
Eggs in beans, that’s a new one for me. Looks great, I’m going to give it a try. I like the looks of the scrub oak county you’re in. It would be fun to visit it.
I know what I'm having for breakfast when I wake up in the morning never ever thought to cook eggs with baked beans I have baked beans and eggs but never cooked them together that's a great idea
Two questions. Do you have room on your couch, now that you've gotten me obsessed with the vintage mess kits and canteens? My wife has started to notice!! And, have you seen the Florida Bushcraft Facebook page? Would be happy to see you part of that group.
Andy Meresse Lol. My wife feels the same way. She doesn’t get why mess kits and canteens are so interesting. You might have to have your new additions delivered to your work. Lol. I will check out that FB group. Thanks for telling me about it. Thanks for watching and for your funny comment!
I literally bought the same mess kit and I'm eating out of it right now. Mine has the same discolored handle. I wonder what that means.I love it tho. It really are handy even in the house. When you're using yours do you have a strong inclination to stand up and walk around with your food?
Great video!! It's so awesome to see a father and son out in the outdoors spending some quality time!! Just for info, if you have a chance, check out "Logcabinlooms" he taught me something on cooking little sausage links.. It's really a perfected method that make a world of difference. Starts out with just a little water in the pan and rolls them around until they begin to plump out and slight turn color... then, drains the water and cooks them in butter the rest of the way until they are browned. Huge difference, you can actually to a compresence, and you'll see if for yourself. Thank you John Sherwood for all your videos!!
This park is called Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park. It’s a long name for a park but it’s a nice park when it’s cool outside. Hot days would not be ideal as there is not a lot of shade. It has hiking trails and two camping sites along the trails for hikers only.
