Before, the networks assumed that the news was a public service and lost money. But the 24 hour news networks had to make money off the news, so they began to sensationalize and become more partisan.

Communist and authoritarian states COULD NOT stand American 🇺🇸 US Constitution. Dictators are scared of their own people of accepting or believing in the American exceptionalism. It’s a threat to their authority and control.

Fellow ex-South African here living in the States. The way I like to describe it is the reason America is the best country in the world is not because it's perfect. Far from it. But the union is always trying to get better. Sometimes it may be 5 steps back for 1 forward, but it's always changing and striving to BECOME the perfect union. Contrast that with most other countries that resist any form of change or shy away from discourse. Those countries believe they are already perfect or at least try project that image. America and Americans will be the first to acknowledge the union is far from perfect but every day, year, decade and century is spent striving for more.

I'm an immigrant from China. I've been watching your videos since you were in China, then I found out you came to US too. You are one of the few "foreigners" who truly understand how China and Chinese goverment work. I totally agree with you that Americans who have never lived outside of United States don't understand how amazing this country is, and they are not appreciating this country enough.

Yes, being an immigrant from UK, London, in 1949, at 5, with my parents on the Queen Mary, to NYC. My parents first had a small store starting in 1950, and later other jobs. I went to college in the 1960's and in 1968 completed USAir Force ROTC, and became an Officer. I am 80 today and a 100% Disabled American Veteran of the Vietnam War Era. I have have always been taken care of in America, as a student and veteran I am still glad to have spent my life here, and thanks for being so positive about OUR AMERICA 🇺🇸 😊

Some of my friends left the UK, they have never regretted their decisions, in fact America has provided them with everything that was important to them, they have become lecturers ad lawyers and now give something back.

Before leaving the US I thought that the rest of the world really had their act together in comparison to the issues that are magnified in the press, After a good bit of traveling and more than 10 years abroad, I have come to the same conclusion that you have. In spite of all its flaws, America is still a great place to live.

As a 59 year old American, it’s heartbreaking to see how far we have fell in the last 40 years. HOWEVER, it is still the greatest nation on earth.

I worked for the USAF as a civilian. After listening to the news that day, I commented aloud in my cubicle, "Why does the world hate us so much?" In answer, came a deep booming voice from another cubicle, which said: "Don't you believe it!" The voice belonged to one of our foreign-born lieutenants, (now an American citizen), from Nigeria. A few seconds later, he stood before me smiling. He said, "The people who hate you, are those with power. But the people who have no power, love you! This is a great country to them, and that is why they struggle to come here." It really made my day. I blame the media, and teachers, for brainwashing our kids to hate their own country. This needs to stop!

It‘s the same here in Switzerland. We complain all the time but forget how well we are actually doing. We take everything for granted and have become complacent. At the same time we enjoy so much freedom that we don’t even appreciate anymore.

I live in Australia and find there is now an ever growing culture of complaining. I always remind those complaining of the freedoms and lifestyle we enjoy in this country compared to most other countries in the world. I implore them to travel abroad to places like Cambodia, China, Africa, Mexico etc where there is corruption, extreme poverty, war, extreme religious beliefs and no hope of better life. Those of us lucky enough to be born in first world countries such as here, the US, Canada, the UK etc should give thanks every day for the life we have been granted.

I was born in the UK but spent most of my childhood and adult life in South Africa. I returned to the UK 5 years ago and I completely get your postal service story. I'm still amazed that I can send post with virtually 100% confidence that it will arrive at it's destination 2 maybe 3 days later. I live in a small town in South East England and there has been one murder in 5 years and the whole town was talking about it for months. And it was a bar fight that got out of hand. The remote locking on my car stopped working and I haven't bothered to fix it. I seldom remember to lock my front door. I've forgotten what burglar bars look like. I walk home from the pub at 02h00 without looking around. I stop at traffic lights with my windows down and think nothing of it.

We need more immigrants like Serpentza in USA who, while having a LARGE audience, can remind us ALL: "You don't know how good you have it here in this country."

The US is pretty cool. When my car broke down, I was waiting for AAA, but in the space of 40 minutes, I had like 6 groups of people stop and ask me if I needed help or water or anything and if a tow is on its way. Wonderful

I stopped watching the news completely. It was an everyday event growing up here. I just cant tolerate the trauma and drama. I learned my love of America from my Irish Grandmother. As all other Nationalities, the Irish suffered too. She became a citizen and all her 4 sons fought in wars. Lost a son in Korea. She taught us what true patriotism was through his story. He was injured badly but was determined to go back to support the young troops who he said he would not let them go it alone. Especially 17 to 18 yr old young men. His name was Patrick McGonagle. The day he died, my Grandmother was a cook in a Seminary. There was an explosion in the kitchen with propane. She got blasted against the wall and fell. Her words were this “Pats dead” He died that same day on August 15th. The feast day of our Blessed Mother. He did what he set out to do… Protecting his platoon from death. He received many medals and we all know him as a hero. My Grandmother taught every Grandchild about our American History through this sacrifice of her son. I have a letter he wrote to his Mom. He said. “ This war will never end Mother” and “keep me in your prayers” God Bless every soldier. Pray for Wars to end..

I agree with you. I have lived in other countries. And yes I am older than you and have a husband and five adult children and grandchildren. They are the center of my life! But when we go to any local parade and a high school band plays any patriotic song I can’t help but break down in tears of joy. We all need to remember how American was in the old days and bring back the same patriotic spirit. Yes we are a great country and yes some things and people are sliding in many areas. Thank you Winston. As a community college prof for 26 years in the sciences, I had students from all over the world. Many of would get upset when they heard Americans complaining about the US. They, like you, came from countries all over the African, Asian and central/S American continents and they knew first hand the stark advantages of a country like the US where freedom is taken seriously. They too marveled at the infrastructure and the systems in place to serve every facet of our populace. I’m thankful every day to have been lucky enough to be born here. I know my grandparents left Italy and Ireland to come to America with nothing in their pockets but a will to work very hard. I’m a product of the American dream and I don’t take it for granted.

A client, from another country who at the time lived here for 4 years, told me that she thought Americans were UNGRATEFUL. After 4 years she realized it wasn't that Americans were ungrateful, it is that IT'S NORMAL for us. We're just use to all the luxuries and easiness of buying things, etc. And we EXPECT it since it is normal. Most Americans do NOT realize that most countries do not have it as nice.

When I retired, I rode my bicycle across America from one ocean to the other. I met many Europeans along the way who were also riding on the Trans America Trail but in the opposite direction. We would stop alongside the road and chat. I was surprise that so many of the foreigners would say things like, "I always heard Americans are stuffy but now I find them to be such lovely people". On the other hand, my wife of 28 years is from Russia. Although we hear such negative things about Russians, there are so many wonderful people there. We just can't judge citizens by the actions of our governments.

I live in the US and have all my life. People in the US (including myself) are a prime example of "If you don't have a problem you'll look until you find one."

I’m Texan and love our country and the USA. Our healthcare system prices are horrendous and have caused me great financial strain. The tax system is outrageous too considering how our non Medicare / Medicaid healthcare isn’t even covered by it. As someone with a chronic illness, our healthcare system has been my biggest struggle in life. Im a hard-working, very resourceful person too, I research hours upon hours on how to get discounts and financial aid for people who don’t have the cash to pay for their healthcare needs and it’s still a massive financial burden. Our post office is a miracle to me how well it works.

As a natural born American I married someone who came from a corrupt country in Asia. Her family LEGALLY emigrated to the U.S. She has shown me just how amazing my country is as she reveals what it's like not living here. It is natural for people to take things for granted. Most natural born Americans do. Our country is not perfect and that is because mankind is not perfect, but we take the best qualities of other cultures and have become the All-Star team when it comes to nations. China is not what many think it is. It has massive problems and will always have them as long as their people are not free to choose. I do hope China will become a democracy. Well said bro. I lived in China for 20 years and then moved to Honduras, where I now reside. I am watching what is going on in the USA daily. I am now 71 and still love my homeland "USA" My mother was from Russia, my father was from Poland, my brother was born in Germany and I was born in the USA.

I live in an upper middle class neighborhood. I commute to work 3 days a week, work from home 2 days a week. My office is 16 miles away and during rush hour commute can take 40 minutes to travel. But here's the thing I notice on my commute. On my commute, I drive through 4 different towns. I drive past 5 fully functional hospitals, 20 emergency\Patient care facilities, and just on the road I travel, I pass 5 fire stations....and I can see another 5 fire stations on the side roads. My street alone, just my one street, which is about a quarter mile in length, we have 15 fire hydrants...all functioning. I can drive in any direction from my house and I will hit a hospital in less than 5 minutes. And if I drive the five minutes in any direction, I have my pick of 10 fully stocked grocery stores, 3 membership warehouse stores and 2 Super Walmarts (one of them is almost half a mile long from the garden section to the automotive bays). Still within that 5 minute drive, I have my choice of 25 fully established and maintained parks. All with facilities for toilets, water fountains. Some have boat docks/launches. All have picnic tables, some have vending machines, and the all have plaques showing what that park is all about. They are all maintained and some have full time staff. And they are all free! If I go to my nearest town center, I have free museums to visit and every weekend there's some kind of festival happening. All the streets are fully lit at night and all the sidewalks and walking paths are always cleared winter and summer, and fully illuminated. And if one lamp fails, there's a phone number on the pole that you can call and it will be fixed within the week! *THIS* is what your taxes pay for...this is why we pay taxes...it's the infrastructure...the kind of infrastructure that doesn't exist in other countries....and that is so ubiquitous in the USA, it's taken for granted or even ignored.

I am refugee, yes legal Alien. 😂 From the country of Laos who came here in the late 80s after Nam debacle. Traded up my green card for U.S citizenship, paid $600 fee n passed my Test. Now im a U.S Citizen. Communist took over my country after Vietnam war and they're still there today. Now that country is over run by communist Chinese and communist Vietcong's. We hear and read it all the time, about human trafficking Laotians by the Chinese, labor abuse, luring locals into brothels, organ harvesting, illegal logging, chemical contamination, Chinese police in Laos denying locals into places where only the Chinese are allowed, debt trap, etc. Just wanna say, the U.S may not be perfect.. but it's the best country for immigrants like us to start over from scratch, and it's true, if you work hard, play by the rules, you can MAKE IT HERE and live like a normal human being with FREEDOM under the clear blue sky. I am retired military after 25 years. During my military career I had the opportunity to travel the world. I saw many interesting and a few beautiful places. However, by the end of each Tour of Duty I was always grateful to return to America. Despite our issues, America remains by far my favorite country. I am grateful to be an American.

In a few days we will have been in the USA for 2 years, June 1st. Coming from South Africa we can simply not express how good life is here and how grateful we are for the opportunity. A quality of life you can not put a price on. Coming from a LITERAL PRISON as a home to TRY keep my family safe, the constant fear of becoming another statistic of the rampant violent crime, to a home with no fortified doors and windows, no expensive alarm system with perimeter passives connected to 24 hour armed response. I do still wake up with a fright from time to time when our HVAC kicks in thinking I am back in South Africa and the house is being broken into. Yes I have PTSD, having had my home burglarized numerous times, having had my vehicle stolen outside my home, having the perpetrators come back the same night and try to kick my back door down to come take more, having nearly been stabbed when trying to stop them stealing my car, being held at knife point as a kid and having my pockets cleaned out, having a mob surround our house when an accused rapist decided to use our home as a refuge.. to name a few instances. Now my wife goes out for a run at 5am, leaves the front door unlocked and her biggest fear is the spiderwebs along the trail, not some black man waiting to rob her of her Garmin, rape her and slit her throat. I say BLACK MAN as that is 99.9% the culprit and being politically correct or sugar coating it is bullshit ! It is a fact and why the statistics are what they are in South Africa. The criminals have adopted a more hateful MO, taking your possessions is no longer good enough, they will rape and kill and often, in the case of a home invasion, force the father to watch as they torture, rape and kill his children and wife. Violent hatred of the whites incited by political leaders in South Africa. My daughter was taught from a young age, if she heard anything strange, to climb up into her cupboard and hide behind a mountain of stuffed animals we had in there. I could see the school she attended from our house, almost a direct line of sight yet I would drop her off and pick her up every day in fears of her being grabbed. We are hated for being white and are UNEMPLOYABLE because of laws the communist ruling party implemented. Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment or B-BBEE . I have been unemployed or rather self employed for over 20 years already. We are, if nothing else, very adaptable and make a way, I started my own business and did well. South Africa was a beautiful country and is now a failed state ruled by one of the most corrupt governments in the world. There is NO CHANCE of changing anything as they have bred a voting mass they keep dumb with dismal education levels and facilities. When 30% is adequate for a pass even lowering the requirement to pass math to 20% !! We traveled back to South Africa last year and could not believe how much worse it had gotten in the short time we had been away. It was a long 2 weeks and we could not wait to get back to the US. When the time comes, we are happily giving up our SA citizenship, they do not want us and we have obliged.

He shared how safe the city of Melbourne actually is (2005-ish). He told of the continually skewed and wrong representation by media. He put it something like this, “Tonight several million Melbournians will do the right thing and enjoy their evening and a night’s sleep. But approx 200 will do the wrong thing, and of those 200 a hand full will do something really bad. Tomorrow morning the media will report on the handful that were really bad; and people will think what a bad city Melbourne is to live in…” Thank you for reminding me of the literal danger the modern Internet media presents! I keep telling people in Europe who haven't visited Asia or Africa, that they haven't seen how the majority of the world actually lives. Because if they did, it would make them appreciate the pure geographical luck they had, because they were born on the "old continent", and they'd be much more grateful. People in developed, democratic countries take a lot of things for granted.

You were born American, just took you 40 years to get here. There are some of us who really do appreciate how great this country truly is. I learned about it when I traveled in my early 20s and got to see (pre-9/11, too!) how the other half lives. When I left, the world was this huge place and NY was a different planet than AZ. When I came home the world was tiny and NY was exactly the same as AZ. I love where I live and I'm SO lucky to be here. Glad you're here too. We're better for it.

My good friend Fran, who moved from South Africa 12 years ago. I met at a donut shop, her accent caught my attention, she asked me what type of daggel I would like to have, I said you mean bagel? She came back. Who gives a shi..😂 She was in her mid-60s I instantly like this old battle wagons, She told me she was from South Africa, was a mechanic, support roll in the S A Army... said she was a seamstress, loves gardening, raises her sheep, about 30 of them, What a character 😂 constantly I had to say... Say again, I had a real challenge trying to fiquer out what she was saying. Always coming back with Say again 😂 Help her get her garden in, worked on her carport, worked on her car, Had me constantly laughting, this woman could swear that would put us Army guys to shame... Met her son, who's a mechanic, married with a couple of little ones, a good man from S.A Always drop by every week to have coffee with her. She passed away 2 months ago...can't tell you how much I miss her, The only person who would shut you down in a sec, if you spoke bad about the USA..said you never seen fear untill you lived in South Africa. I miss her badly 😢

I can confidently say, that the level of freedom astonished me when I left my country, nobody was blowing religion and propoganda to my face nor did i learn more of these "arabic words". I have never looked back, and I thank my parents for their courage to move out everyday.

I grew up in one of those terrible areas of America. Heroin needles that they cleaned up with a rake when they thought about it in the park I played in as a kid. Meth lab across the street for a bit. Lost friends to gang violence. I could go on. I live rural now and feel like I finally live in the America I was told about as a kid. Healthcare sucks more, but I need it less now that I eat more out of my yard. At this point all I worry about is that my kids will never be able to afford anything like my patch of dirt with the goats and chickens. But thank you for the perspective on how good we have it.

I came to the US in the late 70s. This is a great country and I think it is actually getting better over the years. I am proud to be Chinese American!
