I have to see everything about this ship in Charleston. One night, I believe in 1975, I was put in charge of a crew from the USS ORION to help tie her up when she was delivered to Patriots Point. It was interesting to see the old girl get to her resting point! Miss the old Cooper river bridge (kinda).
Love this old school documentary. Honorably Served US Coast Guard 78-84 small boat SAR. Nothing but respect for the men who served on the Yorktown. All them boys had balls of steel in the Pacific Theater. Proud American Patriots...Sons of Liberty. God bless America. God bless our constitution and what we stand for. Home of the brave.
Thank you for your comment, and for your service! These men definitely put themselves in harms way, and we are lucky to have this museum at Patriots Point.
Love your video. I'm sorry you weren't able to add our little detour to North Korea when they grabbed the USS Pueblo. That was a rather tense time for those of us on board.
Hello, I did do some research into that situation, and it looked very interesting! I couldn't find much for photo/video, so unfortunately I left it out, along with a few other things that I wanted to include (typhoon cobra, etc...)
Visited the Yorktown twice . The last time we went I paid for the guided tour . It was worth the money the tour guide was great . They are all pros and know what they are talking about
I still need to do the guided tour; most of the time that I go I have my son with me in a stroller, so I can only visit part of the ship. The audio tour that you can purchase on your cell phone is great
