When you said that the ATSF F7 had the SD40 sounds in the control trailer, that reminds me of the CN F7 that was added to Trainz Driver 2 which ironically also uses the sound effects.

I used to be a train fan as a kid and my father bought me this game. It was TRS 2007. I still have it to this day and sometimes I even play it, because it's so nostalgic and calming.

Regarding the EUROPEAN map thing at around 30:00, I feel like those were just added for whoever was monkeying around in the Surveyor if they wanted to make a European styled map. Another red herring is that, while most assets are categorized by country, EUROPE is a continent rather than a country. Downloading mods just wasnt possible for some people back then. Nice video btw, very nostalgic too because I haven't played that dumb game in over a decade

Some of these seem so strange, I’ve been playing Trainz for quite awhile and I still haven’t known or thought about a ton of these things, the dry city and country USA seems like a really weird one

I wasn't aware they removed the terrain randomizer feature in newer versions of Trainz- it's a shame, because it's one of my favorite features in T:ANE and in Trainz 2009. I'm glad you brought attention to just how weird the early days of Trainz were though. Also the NS Mat '54 "Hondekop" is available on the DLS, from Auran themselves no less. I don't know if it was added later or something, but it does exist.

Thanks for making this video really found it informative/entertaining! I've never personally played Trainz myself but I have a lot of admiration for it since It was made in Queensland, Australia being my home state and is one of the only train games I know with Queensland Rail content without modding. I hope you get more views, this was a great iceberg!

Correction: 9:34 "Gmax" did not become 3Ds Max. 3Ds Max was always around, and predated Gmax by quite some time. Gmax was not created for Trainz either, but actually started with Microsoft Train Simulator. Autodesk made this free version for a couple reasons, but primarily because they were seeing a large number of people getting the 'demo' version of the software.

Explaining most of the missing trains: The auran dash 9, the missing gp units and the ones present in the msts pack, the class 2001 blue, the class 52, blue and red, and some more missing trains such as the sw7 chessie, the budds, some fpa4's and fa2's and some unreleased buildings are all present in the "Auran content creator art source pack" wich was sold at the same time as trainz 2004 and had alot of auran made content in form of .gmax files for content creators to create content. there is tons of other trains and assets in that pack that i havent mentioned (also yes i do have it)

Found the Europe route. It was supposed to reuse assets from all routes in the beta stage, with the majority of the route taken from City and Country Usa, but using British Midlands textures, as49 tracks and pl ballasts, the yard would take design from Outback Australia, and the stations would've been added too, St. Anton next to the tunnels near the steelworks branch, and Trisen located on the mountain at the loop. The mountain would also be painted with Winter in the Alps textures, and the line up the mountain would've been electrified with the Romanian cantenary lines from the mountain station to the Terminus. And as a nice finishing touch, all the US signals would be replaced with the Polish ones. Currently making this route in trainz driver 2.

I’m surprised the passenger newspapers weren’t on this iceberg, some outright told you commands for cheats, like ALT+Y for the ground movement, my favorite has to be the article “SCIENTISTS GROW ROCKET COW” (yes it actually says that). I thought it was just a joke for the longest time but thanks to this I learned the Rocket Cow is an actual thing in Trainz lol If you wanna see them for yourself the easiest way is with the HP Trainz Superliners.

about the unreleased gp units the BN gp38-2 was in trainz 2009 although thats the only version with it and about why the other units werent released probably cuz auran made them only for msts or after trainz was finished

What if he has access/used to have access to the files for those missing GP 38-2s, the “missing” SD 40-2s (that were put on the MSTS Regional Pack), and that missing Rock Island Geep?

You missed something, there is an asset in the form of a house which if we approach, it will make a moaning sound, it's in the Android version of Trainz Simulator, it's on the City and Country USA route I think

The auran dash 9 is in trainz simulator 2. You can get it in the BNSF megapack or individually.

as an old trainz player, this is a neat video. To me the old default assets have their own charm. The game doesn’t feel the same after TS12 for me

This was my first Trainz game. As a kid I was so confused as to where or how I was suppose to get the announced expansion but so much of it was either wrong or missing. Such a good game though.

Following that, you didn’t mention the Hondekop, the Renfe 333, the Class 52, or that train that looks like a subway train that appears between the OBB 1044 and the DL500, or any of the other trains not found on the game or DLS that appear in that image. And also, can you show me where this account is that hosted the ones you mentioned?

I think i may have a solution for the hole europe route shebang, maybe someone could try to contact greg lane and ask him about the europe route, it may be risky but i dont see any problem with asking him about everything he knows about this route, and hopefully tells us of more people who now about it and what it could have had and how it could have looked like, but who knows.
