It is SO refreshing to hear a testimony with a player that's this good, with a great sense for touch and feel, to be playing such a great amp. I'm convinced this amp is for me .. Guthrie and Greg Howe are my favorite players and favorite tones. That British tone has a beautiful midrange that the American Boogie tone just does not possess ..
@Music Compilations maybe the same way in which he'd listen to albums on vinyl instead of .wav formats .. hazarding a guess! You do pose an interesting question ..
@Music Compilations Oh man, okay .. I understand that because on the British Combo setting on my Cube, if I go above 75%, I get compression artifacts so I keep it right there. I don't want subleties to get lost .. can you still buy the older amp?
@Music Compilations very interesting .. have you personally played one of each/both? I might actually prefer the newer version but to hear/feel the difference would be a revelation of sorts.
@Music Compilations Awesome .. I do appreciate all your advice and input. Another player I love is Greg Howe .. he uses the DV Mark Maragold. But honestly, in the end, it's your personality on the instrument that really matters in the end. But the tone quest is fun as hell!
Funny that you mentioned the midrange character of this amp vs mesa boogie. I own this amp and a mark V25. I can say that victory midrange character is more vocal and musical. I always wanted a mesa mark 5 because of that mid range character but I can tell that the victory mid range is more pleasant to my hears. This is from a guy who dreamed for years to get his hands on a mark. In the end I realized that the victory mid range was the sound I was looking for. Still have the boogie because it's soooooo versatile and can play it at home.. the v130 however is not as easy to play at home.. it's a beast of a giging amp ;)

The name change doesn't do it for me, but the amps are great. I did have one of the original V30 Countess heads, but that had to go. Wish I still had that.
Hello Victory Amplifiers! I'm thinking of buying my very first Victory amp but i'm torn between the V130 Super Jack and the V140 Super Duchess. I will mainly use it as a pedal platform amp. All my overdrives/boosts/distortion, modulations, delays & reverbs will go thru the front end of the amp. I'm looking for an amp that could approximate the sound of John Mayer, Joe Bonamassa & Robben Ford with the help of my pedals. I hope you could help me decide in this. Thank you very much. ☺️💞
Nice demo --- Can someone clarify for me? Is there a smaller version of this exact amp? (tubes, tones, loop etc).. Is it the sherriff? The V30?... I saw a MKII version also, is that the SAME amp as this demo?... What tubes are used in this demonstration? EL34s or 6L6?... I just am interested in a smaller version of this amp, any help is appreciated.. Thanks
Yes the V30 MKII is a smaller version of this, it has the crunch mode of the V130 and a lot of the features just in a smaller, more portable lunchbox design. It's still 42 watts, so plenty of watts for gigging, also the switchable power down to 7 watts helps for home playing. Hope this helps, any more questions, just ask! Thanks Victory
Hey Renan, same great amp, just a different name from the countess to the Jack, in terms of the models, the v30 version is a 42 watt, 2 channel, 3 mode compact head, whereas the v130 is a 100 watt head, with 2 channels with four modes. Thanks victory
Is this voiced differently than V30 The Jack? Is the Super Jack less dark? I cannot do the "everything at noon" thing with The Jack. I tend to put Treble nearly all the way up, and Mids nearly all the way down. I sorta struggle with the voicing on the V30, but everything in this video sounds absolutely amazing.
Hi Kip, there will be some differences between the Jack and the Super Jack. The extra modes create added versatility for sounds, also there was an update to the jack range between MKI and MKII which added the 'nomod' switch, when the mod is on the Jack is tighter for heavier playing. Thanks Victory
I'm considering to buy whether V30 the jack and V130 Super Jack. I wonder if the V30 is voiced differently? Is the new new mode MKII in V30 the same as Voice 1 in V130 Super Jack? Thanks
The V30 is voiced the same as the V130, the V130 was based off the V30. The clean channel of the V130 is based off the V30's clean channel, the difference is with the v130 there is a crunch mode added. Thanks Victory
