He has a lot of good points. All throughout my life I have been very 'in tune' with my inner self and spirituality and have noticed that we as a society need to connect with our 'mystic' selves. I have seen this shift to a more cohesive left and right brain understanding of information and its integration with ourselves and others over the past decade or so. This progression really gives me hope for us all. GO ART, GO MATH, GO LEARNING, GO WORLD! Woohoo!
A very comprehensive view of the world and its probable need to look beyond our rational, fact driven ,scientific technological and fiscal frameworks and then to recognize mystery, intuition ,human and natural ..purposes beyond that of instant gratification. This whole framework today seems to devalue the human experience .
It's really not unlike being "The Avatar." ;) It's kind of like the little explored ramifications of the second half of the Hero's Journey... where the Hero shares his/her knowledge and wisdom to fundamentally change the commonly held realities of his/her world.
i have to say i wondered if this guy wasnt too scattered on peyote to string his ideas together, but in the end it turned out completely plausible and made sense even. quite interesting linking the technological and cultural singularity with some mayan mythology. they are both mythologies, why not. and maybe this is the way forward. it sure beats the cynical nation state apparatus in the pocket of global commercial entities. life needs to speed up and slow down at the same time
His ideas are real and they have a place, but i don't think the world as a whole or the usa as a whole can change to that. I think the sharing concept sounds good but goes against the human nature of a large % of humans. I think we will perpetually live in a roller coaster society, somewhat - good , bad, sharing , stealing, fighting, peace, hurricanes etc, rebuild, fall, rebuild
Jaden Jahci There's nothing wrong with my ears. I know BS when I hear it. Daniel Pinchbeck's talk is an opportunistic rambling where he name-drops his minor connections with Ginsberg and Kerouac, promotes his own books, and tries to impress us with stories of his world travels & drug experimentation. I'm sure that goes over well with the Burning Man crowd. He only occasionally remembers to mention the word "art", but it comes off as an afterthought and nothing more. He could have summed up his message by saying, "Art should reflect the ecological, economic and spiritual conditions of the current time". He would have been done in 30 seconds.
"He" could have summed up "his" message?,... You realize you summed up his message wrong right? You know BS when you hear it? You probably hear somthing you dont like, or agree with and just go def,.. and stop being able to compute the message being conveyed? It just turns into a "ramble", huh Brad? Shit,...Why do anything in "your world"? just go blow yourself up and kick it with 72 virgins right Brad?... measure twice cut once?huh? Art?...should reflect the current time??.. DP was talking about dissolving the current standards in this current time that have become societies norm by the two dimensional powers" that be,.. that suppress an scoff at an innerspace spiritual psychic connection with, that which,... has in fact made all things as they are.... must i go on?,...should i dare?....cause I know its just a "Ramble" to you Bradley,...you have probably read something you dont like here and have already just shut off,...and sized it up,...with a prick like you that embodies "measure once cut once"!...im late for a date, stop with the small talk!! get to the point!!... stop rambling!!!...fuck 4play!!! stick it in, pull it out!!!!....no frills here buddy!!!! Sincerely, Sgt. Bradley P.s. If you havnt ridden "Colossus"Bradley then dont chime in on what its like to be "on it" just because you own a gun and a Badge hot shot,..cause we all know you got a queezy stomach, and on top of that you're just a chicken shit tuff love square that shuts off when things get to deep beyond your own prideful expertise. Listen...I've been one on one in a 6ft by 6ft room with Bob Dylan,.. and he asked me a question. Hows that for name dropping cherry? At ease.
What is the value of art in times of transition? To focus the anarchy of the many disparate emotions, ideas, and values that make up the cacophony of the voices of people by acting as a conduit through which the chaos becomes tuned into a harmonious sound in a sharp, action-reaction dialogue, as issues gain focus and relevance through the artist's eye.
Well. That was a whole lot of... something. Weird to see all of this observe all of these ideas be orated in the third person. Well, it's good to see someone's been paying attention.
