One of the coolest things I learned in French class is that France has free museum admission for students and super cheap family discounts to keep the next generation curious and excited about learning new things, we should all follow their example in that respect.
I met Emily Graslie at Vidcon in 2013 and she almost spilled her coffee on me.....I've never felt so honoured in my entire life. Emily, you can spill your coffee on me anytime ^_^
Dang, how time flies. I've been watching Emily's channel since she worked for Hank Green. "Don't be embarrassed if you don't know what [The Field] is ..." well, it's only the second-best natural history museum in the world, innit? One would hope anybody watching this would know of it. Okay, let's call it a tie with the AMNH, I just have a soft spot for New York's one.
Museum Für Naturkunde in Berlin hits the top spot for me. If you're interested in natural sciences, seeing the ceiling-reaching skeleton of Giraffatitan and the history-changing remains of Archaeopteryx...it just moves you
I find it very satisfying that the top and bottom of the big red X on stage are at the same height level as the top of Emily's head and the bottom of her dress, respectively
I saw an internet survey question that I couldn’t resist responding to - What is your favorite amusement park? My honest and immediate answer - the American Museum of Natural History. A museum is a place to muse. An amusement park is a place to be amused. You do the math.
I have never been down the Wikipedia rabbit hole. but I waste so much of my time going down the RU-vid rabbit hole. Only way I justify it by saying that "hey I'm at this watching educational content."
curioser and curioser. curiosity is a natural function of most primates, not just humans. one could probably include many mammals, not just primates. people like Emily open minds to the beautiful and intricate natural phenominon existing in our world. thanks go out to all the communicators of their own curiosity. "it still has brains on it"
Her posture is odd, I wonder if she has fused vertebrae or a spinal disease. Not that it matters to her awesomeness and intelligence and personal beauty.
Maybe she slouched as a kid because she seems kind of nerdy and she may have been a shy person so she stared at the ground when she walked because she didn't want to make eye contact with someone
