Because SOME Damon fans like to project. They don't want Elena with Stefan so they project that he still has unresolved feelings for Katherine, so that they can root for Delena and say Stefan should just settle for psycho Katherine. Forgetting that Damon spent almost 200 years waiting for Katherine and snapped like a baby when told she never cared for him and then moved to force himself onto Elena. Damon's "feelings" to both is very unhealthy. I don't see Stefan having unresolved feelings for Katherine, it makes no sense to me.

Because Damon fell for Elena eventually and not because of her face. He was in the town for Katherine. Stefan saw Elena, got curious and decided to be in her life. He met her and saw she was a better version of Katherine and fell.

We say that because Damon has openly been going through his feelings for Katherine. When we are introduced to him, he is in love with her. Then we see him go through the anger towards her after her rejection. He also wasn't in love with Elena when we meet him. That has happened over time because of who she is. Whereas Stefan claims to have no feelings for Katherine, yet is dating her doppelganger, after falling in love with her before they ever even met. I believe Stefan's love for Elena is genuine, but I think he is in denial when he says he feels nothing for Katherine. I don't think he's still in love with Katherine, but it's definitely unresolved for me.

@@MyCupOfTv I don’t Stefan was in love with Elena before meeting her either. I think they both were intrigued by Elena. I have seen the 5 rewatches, age 40, so I might just have a different perspective. Thank you both for responding

It's funny because I think it would seem that he's overcorrected, but I think he did and has gotten back on track but has a hard time showing it through the haze of bad history he has. So every time he acts out, it's very clearly in line with a 'him' that people have decades of experience with. But the Damon he is and the 2010-now is not necessarily just the demon that people see, the overcorrected version. And I think Ian shows that in his performance. This is a point at which I don't think anyone new watching vampire diaries thinks Damon is all bad. But at this point there are still maybe even tons more reason to dislike him that outweigh the reasons to like him. Which, to me is a fun time in the show.

But what they were saying was very interesting. I never really thought about it. Maybe human-form they just don't feel like their teeth are sharp enough to break skin?? because I've never really seen any wolf test biting someone in their human form....

Those were always my ships TBH. Until SPOILERS Kath showed her true evil colors with Elena, Stefan, and everyone much later in the show.

Funny , l've hated Stefan from the very beginning , and Ive absolutely loved Damon from the very beginning. And with each watch , I hate Stefan more and more .... and absolutely love Damon more and more. 😊😊

It’s a possible death scenario for an immortal, so he took a chance to get rid of that threat: because it didn’t turn out after Mason said “let it rest” everyone takes the opportunity to take a dig at him (lol 🙄) there isn’t anything immature about that. He’s more impulsive yes but more often than not it’s Damon’s plans that work, he’s an immortal - ofc he’s confident.

@@LS13. Nah he's definetly immature. Turned down a peace offering from Mason when they have Katherine to worry about, lets not forget how he acted towards Elena last episode, and of course all the digs about stealing his younger brother's girlfriend. Damon is immature and impulsive, that's my opinion of him.

Impulsive, sometimes reckless yes, especially in the early seasons. But throughout the series ??????? HECK. NO. And at this point , all they know is that Mason is a werewolf, that vampires and werewolves are mortal enemies......and ...most worryingly...that a werewolf bite is fatal for them. And at this point ,they have no reason to believe Mason when he says he just wants to be friends. So I don't really blame Damon for trying to stab him. But he was probably reckless when he provoked Katherine after the Mason killing. But knowing what we have come to know of Katherine,even at this stage in the story ,she would still have a plan B and a C and a D. Even if Damon hadnt riled her up. So there's that. So you're wrong in your reading of Damon's entire character arc.

@@ss-ct2gt Wrong? I won't get into his character arc to avoid spoilers so don't get me started lol No here he was impulsive and immature. He did NOT even take time to study his so called enemy and know what he's dealing with, he reacted based on a myth lol genius. Its not like the crew don't have enough to deal with. He's immature for not at least taking a temporary peace with Mason and watching him to see if he holds it, he just assumes Mason is not going to hold his end of the peace agreement, even though Mason had no reason to go after Damon. Damon lawyers are something else, every little evil, sick, twisted, or dumb move he makes, they defend. You have your opinion and I have mine, does not make me wrong.

Every evil person has some kind of unresolved trauma. I can list EVERY evil thing Damon has done until this point and there is no excuse for it. I won't get to the "until Elena" part to avoid spoilers but don't even get me started on that lol.

@@samnabawy2731 SPOILERS that’s the difference between fear and darkness and what most people don’t understand. Most spiritually evolved souls should go through the darkness first so they can find the ultimate light and reach to the true meaning of love. Light and darkness are not against each other, they complement each other. Being a loving soul is not about lack of darkness, it’s about how you deal with your darkness after you come back from it. Pain and suffering usually push those souls to darkness. Damon was lost in darkness for quite some times because he didn’t have the option of love to choose from but once love made its presence in to his life again, he chose love instantly because he was treasuring light in the deepest part of his heart and was willing to come back to it at any time love returns to him. Katherine on the other hand is coming from fear. She can’t redeem herself because she never wanted redemption herself, she was enjoying who she was and never wanted to change that. Damon was a lost and wounded soul. Lack of love created those wounds and only love could heal it but it’s gonna take time for all those emotional wounds in his soul to be healed but Katherine was an evil soul who chose fear over love and didn’t look for redemption at all.

@@samnabawy2731 Mitigating circumstance. He's a Vampire lol They all did Evil even the sainted Lexi. I'd like to say so much more on Damon but yes. Let's not spoil it for others. Only to say Elena is the good in the show. You may not like her or how things develop but she was vital to the series overall & important in terms of relationship bonds 😉 For those reasons & many more she was my favourite character.

@an4354 I think his comment about "until Elena" wasn't actually a dig to Elena's character, but the overall quite prominent criticism that TVD always got about "this character changed FOR this person, instead of really changing for himself"

@@sugarman4354 Never said I didn't like Elena. I just don't want to get into any relationship developments that have not happened yet to avoid spoilers. But Damon is relatively more evil than many other characters on the show, the ones who weren't blatantly villains.
