Finally stefan said to her what he already should have done before. AND HE WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT TO SAY THAT

I always wonder why Damon just takes the blame for Klaus turning all those people. In the last episode, Klaus even gave Damon grief for NOT turning any of the townspeople for Jeremy to kill, and says he already made the necessary corrections, so Damon had nothing to do with it. But, he still lets Elena, Jeremy and Matt all believe he was somehow involved.

God, how I laugh with Elena. Who is she now that she would not only reproach, but even just ask for help from Stefan? She's nobody to him anymore, she chose "the love of her life", so then why the hell should your ex-boyfriend care about you, your brother, and in general, what the fuck does she think her life is more important? "- She tried to kill me!" - yes, but she tried to kill everyone, but it was also you who put a blade in her back. Well, as it were, you're even. Elena also resents Stefan for not running to help her right away, even though she broke his heart in the last episode, having cheated on him a hundred times, lied many times, and after all this she wants Stefan to immediately come running to her aid? Damon may be his brother, but Stefan was betrayed by two people dear to him. Including Damon. The love of his life ran away to his brother, and after that she still shakes her rights. Laughter and tears. Stefan is really awesome here. I like him by anyone, especially when he puts Elena in her place. Hell, that's how your bond with Damon works. Previously, she would never have left Jeremy with Damon, no, she wouldn't even listen to him, but now she immediately after Damon tried to "calm her down", or rather just use their bonds, she immediately agrees. After that, she thinks she can resist Damon, who will one hundred percent force her to release him? Stefan could resist the suggestion only because of his strong love for Elena. Even Klaus himself said he was seeing this for the first time. But Damon certainly does not have such a love and he is unlikely to be able to resist the suggestion of a Kol. And yes, does Elena have the same vocabulary for all guys? Hell, she's telling Damon the same thing she told Stefan when he was under Klaus' compulsion. How can she even love someone if she says the same thing to both guys? Word for word. A brilliant plan. Aren't you whining every damn time that you feel sorry for people, it's inhumane and so on, but at the same time you are ready to kill a vampire who is over a thousand years old, and with him his entire line? They can actually have a family, children, they have a damn life. The logic of it just amazes me. And yes, that is, she can run from brother to brother by deceiving both, but Stefan can't be friends and walk next to Rebecca? Here she certainly can't say what is right and what is not, since she allowed herself to be unfaithful in a relationship. Fuck, Stefan never even thought about cheating on you at least once while in a relationship, but for some reason you jumped from bed to bed.

thank you for addressing the point that matters again. most of the damon biased stans always defend elena's choise of a partner just because she was single, but stefan has sex with someone while being single and omg how could he do that to elena.. like whaaat??? also the only thing i don't agree with you with is how you said stefan was being mean with what he said. i think it was the right thing to say because someone needed to tell elena after her "she tried to kill me" that not everything is about her. this episode was when i started to dislike her throughout all seasons. when she was with stefan she was jealous of damon, she's with damon now and she's still jealous of stefan and controls him. she's hurting both of them. seems to me like your usual selfish person who thinks the world revolves around her.

Kol compelled Damon to forget he was told to kill Jeremy so he wasn’t even aware when the compulsion happened. He told Jeremy to run and to kill him when he realized, that was him fighting it. Stefan knew that he was being compelled to attack Elena when it happened, it wasn’t forgotten. Also, they were compelled to attack two different people so the instances were different.

Elena was really out of line in that scene. Plus she looked so offended when Stef said he wasn’t in love with her. Like, you’re the one who left him for his brother.

I agree with what you said about the compulsion, the situations were different. But I also think it has to do with personalities too Damon is very impulsive while Stefan has literally been practicing self-control for a century. He fights his hunger and lust for blood everyday (more than a normal vampire would) as he fears becoming a ripper. So yeah it makes much more sense that Stefan is able to control his actions for a bit longer than a Damon would. It kind of goes back to what Bill said in season 3 about how he resists compulsions -it’s a skill you can practice. And with Stefan controlling himself and fighting his urges everyday for a century, he’s more able to control his actions under compulsion

Sofie, I agree with everything you said in your review. And I would like to propose two more aspects to the whole compulsion thing to add to what you already said, for everyone to consider. The first one is personality and behavior. We all already know how Damon is, he's impulsive, he doesn't think before he acts. He has control issues, this is a factor for me in this case. And the one that for me is more important is who he was compelled to kill. Let's not pretend that being compelled to kill someone you are in love with is totally different than being compelled to kill anyone else. I hate comparisons because everyone is different, but I always wondered what would have happened if Damon was compelled to kill Elena instead of Jeremy. I bet he would have fought the compulsion even harder. Because I do believe he fought the compulsion, even though many people say otherwise. He was fighting the whole way, he stalled and told Jeremy what to do. He was fighting. In a different way that Stefan but he was fighting. Just my two cents in this discussion. Because believe me, it was a tag of war between the fans. Those who love Stefan and those who love Damon. The battle is real. I for one like the show and both characters, so I try not to take sides, but I do have to admit that I favor one over the other from time to time. I can't help it. We can't be subjective, we are humans... lol.

Stefen was able to resist compulsion because it was about killing Elena - Damon doesn't love Jeremy, I think if he was compelled to kill Elena he would be able to resist.

I'm late to the party, but need to point out the bullshit in this episode and also because I see a lot of uncritical thinking in the comments and want to address it. Elena has no right??? I call BS. She has all the right. Why? Because TVD writers are notoriously lazy. They didn't actually bother to make vampire Elena any different from human Elena. She is still compassionate, selfless, and always puts everyone else's wellbeing before her own. Yet we're meant to be convinced that she's "different" (even though I challenge anyone to point out where exactly she's different; aside from the very direct 'orders' from Damon employing the sire bond, like "trust me"). Everyone and their uncle keep saying how Elena is so different (again: lazy writing, because she really isn't) and Elena is meant to take it and swallow it and not react or say a word. But the first time she confronts Stefan who, unlike her, actually *is* acting different and everyone is like HOW COULD SHE?!!?!? That's a reaction so deeply ingrained in misogyny and social conditioning. I encourage everyone to read essays on the topic of male suffering vs. female pain and how the male one is always, *always* treated with more regard, more respect, more earnestness. There's a lot of them out there, if you want to educate yourself. And this episode (and this reaction) is a really great showcase of how female vs. male emotional distress is treated in fiction.

You said something in this reaction that I think you didn't mean to say. Something that references a storyline which only happens later in the show, making it seem that you watched the show before.

Worst Stefan line, I can’t stand him in these episodes.....

We need to clarify the subjugation of the brothers, everyone thinks that Stefan resisted the subjugation for Elena's sake but in reality it is not so, Stefan resisted the subjugation with Klaus for himself because the bad side that is the other personality Stefan the bad one does not accept that he is told and forced to do things that he does not want because Stefan is the brain of everything and it is he who has to manipulate others and not the other way around, just as Stefan's good personality already struggles with himself that is with the bad part to keep his reputation as a good guy impeccable so Stefan has resisted the subjugation only and exclusively for himself, in fact as soon as he got humanity back from Klaus the first thing he did was take revenge on Klaus. Stefan the good is din a unique goodness sometimes too much but if you touch him to himself he will do everything to take revenge not looked at anyone until at least he tries to take revenge and this occurs even later. Resisting also helps him his character quality, that is, he is very reasonable temperamentally and this helps him a lot to be in control of some situations. Unlike his brother, Damon is very rational but not very reasonable and with his great defect impulsiveness does not have the ability, the strength to resist subjugation, not to forget that Damon has little self-esteem of himself and an emotional self-harm, he cares little about his reputation and what others think of him and in this case Elena because he loves us for who he is even with the bad things about him this is Damon's politics. Stefan starting from the middle of season 3 that is since he got humanity back from Klaus and up to the middle of season 5 is a big arrogant, hypocritical and asshole and obviously his character inconsistency that makes him really obnoxious. Another thing to clarify is that when Elena talks about Rebecca she doesn't do it because she is jealous and not even to poke her nose into Stefan's life but simply reminds him to be careful that Rebecca is an original and with her that together with her brothers they destroyed life to them and must not get biased because he is hurt. Basically Stefan acts like this to Elena because he says "I was good for you I gave you the good part of me and when we were together it seemed that you neither liked and hated Damon because he was the bad one now you nor are you in love with the bad one then I'm also a bad guy maybe that way I like you as my brother "so the question is, who actually is Stefan, the one who was with Elena or this without her? I believe that the real Stefan is this without Elena and that it doesn't hurt him so much for not having Elena anymore and this Elena knows he also told Damon, but because he was the one who lost despite his commitment to keep Elena his and that his brother, according to him, made little effort to deserve Elena. I hate those who go to bed because they are hurt among other things with someone who knows that the person who hurt them bothers them out of spite, as did Damon and now Stefan both brothers were immature and I find it in bad taste. If they went to bed with someone else ok they are free so they can do whatever they want but if you go to bed with someone who destroyed your life in the first place and you can and in any case the woman they said they love and even if we are disappointed and angry at that woman or man don't sleep with the worst enemy of the woman you love. Rebecca doesn't comment on this character so much that I don't want to write more about her. Bonnie, despite the consequences of these experiences, needs to confront the dark side of being a witch.
