@nicolebarber Life exists for us to live to our fullest extent. We should enjoy all the time we have on this earth. Once we're gone we return to the void, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. All we have is about 72 years to do everything. So, leave this world better than you found it, love your life, enjoy sharing time with loved ones. This is how I plan to live out the rest of my days. As silly as my comments are I do think the support of gay art is important to normalising it as a valid medium. I just want to do what I think is right, and Commenting For Engaygement is my little part in the wider struggle

@nicolebarber I understand that point of view that an afterlife creates meaning to life, but I feel completely the opposite. If life is eternal what is it's worth. If I know that I'll go to heaven or reincarnate or whatever afterlife there may be, why does this life matter? Our lives are important because they're short, because they're the only ones we'll ever get. As for the sisyphean task of rebuilding from our generations past, history has always arced towards progress. The pain and suffering, the regression and conservatism, whatever ills are dealt towards humanity will be healed in time. If our boulder rolls back a meter we'll shove it up 10. Humanity is indeed in a never ending struggle, but the beauty of human existence is something that is worth the hardships

@nicolebarber I can absolutely respect that as a belief. But I'll speak from the Christian perspective since it's what I'm most familiar with. The belief that after you die you'll live an eternally joyful life in the heavens has always rang hollow for me. Without the possibility of any negative feelings, am I even me? If the person I love most goes to hell, how could I ever be eternally happy? So, if there is a heaven, whoever is going up there isn't me anyway, so why should I worry if I would've gotten in or not? Instead of restricting my life to follow rules from thousands of years ago, I'd rather enjoy my time now with the people I care about. I do believe that people should feel free to believe in whatever they want for the afterlife. As long as a religious person isn't hurting or forcing their religion on anyone else, I have absolutely no problem with them. Whatever gives someone comfort and happiness on earth is good. If it warms someone's heart at a funeral to believe that their loved one is safe and happy in heaven, I would never want to take that away from them. It's just that for me personally, after evaluating many different religions and researching all the evidence I can get my hands on, I can't believe in a creator based universe Thank you, I have thoroughly enjoyed your arguments in this debate as well, you're very respectful and well spoken ❤️
