Grandeur is the word comes to mind. Speechless at best. I grew up Catholic so I can relate as far what nuns tried to describe Thank you so much for an in depth tour. Rest up and get a massage! 😊
By far one of your most beautiful and impressive videos. 🙏🌞 I've been to the Vatican twice, but your video allowed me to see things I had not seen before. Thank you, Carol and Chris. I will be watching this video again. ❤️🥰🙏🏆
Thank you so much for taking us to Rome. Some of us will never get to go but your video was gorgeous and made us feel like we were there. So much history. Wish you could do more there but we appreciate this tribute. You both feel like family to us. Love and blessings.
Such beautiful and interesting sights but oh so crowded! Can’t wait for Croatia, it’s my favourite place 😍 although the beaches will be busy there at this time too!
Rome has not changed much since my first visit in 1997. I was not as lucky as you are in terms of the Pope during my visits to Rome. The tradition of a Wednesday public audience does not always guarantee that the visitors could see the Pope. Thank you so much for sharing your Roman visit. I love the Eternal City.
Rome is a wonderful and beautiful place. Italy is a beautiful place. You were blessed in seeing the pope, what a wonderful surprise! My husband and I honeymooned in Italy in 1981 and toured the Vatican, Rome, Trevi Fountain, Florence Venice, Mulan, Piza and lots and lots more. We'll never forget the experience of Italy. It will always be crowded at the Vatican, especially in the summer months. So much has been added and remodeled since we were there. You couldn't even go inside the Colosseum because of the ruins, just lots of feral cats living there. Nice video, brought back loving memories. Thank you!
Loved being in Rome and the Vatican City. The next time you visit Rome I would highly recommend getting over to Tivoli. There is a villa there which me and my son loved watching around. It’s about an hour from Rome, and so worth seeing. Hoping you guys get over to the Greek Islands this summer again too!
However the Vatican remains a spectacular and admired place to visit , for its immense beauty, for its richness in history, in art and more !! Because basically I think that the Vatican, like of all Italy, is kissed by the grace of the divine touch !! VIVA the Vatican, VIVA Italy, VIVA Europe!!
You are very lucky! Seeing Vatican, the Basilica and the crypts itself is a privilege - seeing Pope is just icing on the cake - the whole place even though crowded, brings calmness and spiritual - I am not even Christian but easily one of the best places I have ever seen
Thank you both for taking me to this most magical place. I have always dreamed of visiting Rome and look forward to you returning to explore more of Italy.
ThankYouThankYouThankYou! You had shots I have never seen or *thought* I would see -- the tour in the upper reaches of the dome most notably. Have enjoyed the Rome vids a LOT! Happy Trails! 😎
Good for you guys, very lucky to see the pope. Last year when I was there, we couldn't see him 💔 he was sick in the hospital. The Vatican was amazing. Enjoy it guys.
What an outstanding tour Chris and Carol! I’m glad you were able to take me to the top of the dome to see that epic view of the Vatican City and Rome! I didn’t have such luck years back at Il Duomo in Florence as my fear of heights kicked in when I was at the lower part of the dome, yikes. A marvelous viewing experience as always you two ❤
Hoping and praying for some Greek content after Croatia! Think you guys would have a blast on the Ionian Islands (Lefkada, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Paxos, etc). And then there is the whole Peloponnese to explore. So many great places to go!
Wow I've been to the Vatican but didn't take the tour, I'm surprised you can walk next to (and touch?) the mosaics. There's so much to see in Rome, and we only had 2 days there! :-)))))))
Awesome video! Blessings from the Pope are very special. Same happened for me unexpectedly when we were there on a Saturday and he was addressing the crowd. Did not get to see St. Peter's basilica in person, but you guys have shown it beautifully. I need to go back!!
You guys are both very cute and your videos are amazing. Very informative and insightful. I felt like I was in Rome-haven’t been in years😢. Please more Italia! Bari-across from Croatia, Pompei, Napoli, Firenze… 😊
We had the opposite experience. We ate a breakfast in a Vatican courtyard on a Wednesday morning and didn’t find out until after breakfast that he was there. Still an amazing experience to have a morning in a courtyard but we will know for next time. ✝️ the church is just so impressive.
So many people want to see the Pope, and you just saw it by chance. That's great. I think no matter how you prepare to visit the Vatican you always end up exhausted. Unless you do it multiple days. Nice video.
Awesome video of Rome and the Vatican. You guys are certainly blessed with seeing the Pope. I loved your views of the Vatican. I was also able to go to the top of St Peters. Also, I remember going to some famous square for dinner one night and having a few to many glasses of wine with my new Swedish friends. It was awesome. Go luck on your future travels.
Thanks you guys so much for this new remarkable video from the Vatican City, Vatican this gone weekend in Europe to shows the World’s smallest country in June of 2024❤❤❤
When you were climbing the spiral staircase where it was narrower the higher you climbed - reminded me of climbing a similar narrow staircase to the crown of the Statue of Liberty (Ellis Island, NY). As Carol said - claustrophobia big time! We had to convince our 10 yr old son to keep going because there was no option to turn around to go down. Unforgettable experience - not wanting to repeat it.
11:15 It is certainly worth going up there, making that effort and then seeing that splendid panorama, unique in the world, of St. Peter's Square and all of Rome !
Chris, what are your thoughts about the Italian Riviera? I know you guys like beach towns...; then Monaco's right next door; you guys know best; thank you for the vlog :))
Welcome to the Vatican City, The Vatican this gone weekend to be abled to see the “Holy Father or The Pope” riding in a open vehicle in June of 2024❤❤❤The World’s smallest country in Europe 2024 where the “Holy Father or The Pope” lives daily with his family in peace 2024❤❤❤
Boa tarde! Thank you for the video. St Peters Baldachin (or canopy) that was shrouded when you visited, was actually constructed in the 1630s. They are renovating it for the Catholic Jubilee of 2025. That is why most of the construction is happening in Rome now. Tchau.
Only 800 + - actual residents , strictly Papal ? Place looks big enough to house many more . Who cleans the place , cooks all the food ? Can imagine what is must have been like when these places were built , the mosaics are labour intensive . And way back then , they built those domes , and then painted them :-) A good few metres in the air :-) Domes are cool , are they easy to make ? St Pauls , a couple in Malta , Grand Mosque in Cairo is huge , St Marks in Venice , days of creation etc :-)
Wow, you "got the ultimate Vatican experience because we were 5 feet away from the Pope", so lucky! As a history buff as well as a lover of architecture and arts, this video is so overwhelming to me in many positive ways despite the facts I've visited Vatican museum 3 times so far. I hope you've seen La Pietà di Michelangelo inside Vatican, one of my most favorite artworks. Italy is my most favorite country in the world, where I've been over a dozen of times, most likely it'll be my retirement country in the future. It's always my wish to drive through entire country to have the ultimate experience of Italy with the locals, food, wine, nature, history, arts and far more. I'll be in Europe in 2 weeks, hopefully I can make it to Italy again. By the way, the weather is so gorgeous as your first video in Rome, the Eternal City! I'm looking forward to your travel in Croatia!
Just to clarify - tickets are not needed for St Peter’s Square and St Peter’s Basilica (excluding the dome)? Tickets are only needed for Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel?
And we in name for our soul salvation non only in Italy but in other parts of the world money flowers of money, to all these unproductive people!! We are very intelligent!! But you not worry , your soul will be saved!
So when you are saying that Europe have this vibe with people sitting at the restaurants outside, how does this differ to the US? Are people not going out there?
And the Vatican often take loans from Italy so called at a no repayable expense, in few words the Vatican have no obligation to return these money the Italian government, in practice at the Italian people!! And in add the so admired Vatican often buy with these money received stocks, houses , villas, apartments, and other stuff generally in Italy without pay taxes !!
I am Italian. Very nice and well made videos. That's why I subscribed to your channel. But... 2 weeks in Croatia and only 3/4 days in Italy? This is a mistake. In Italy there are millions of things to see that you can't see anywhere else. A lifetime is not enough to see the fantastic things that are there. And I'm not saying this just because I'm Italian.
So sad to see that you censured my comment about you mentioning that you don't practice any religion. It's not about "religion" it's about spirituality.
The Vatican will be even independent! But the Italians each year through the government give so called 8 x 1000 that translated into amount comes given at the Vatican about one billion, Euro , obviously are money of the Italians in few words on the taxes that comes paid!!
