The Dream Team is reunited here... if you accept that the son is the perfect stand in for the father on drums (which I do)... this was a great show to witness... I wish I had been there.
WTF? Don Wilson is an amazing rhythm guitar playes, so innovative and so accurate...i bet you are all who say that he is a weak link, can't play on his level..
Some people are ignorant. Thats what makes the entire song and what made it popular,.as an instrumental.hit. The driving rhythm guitar..is what all kids wanted to learn back then and did.....Descending muted runs with Reverb...... Surf Sound.....
i noticed Don Wilson was truly enjoying himself playing there! Nokie Edwards and Bob Bogle were the calmer ones! overall they were great guitar players and not forgetting they had a fantastic drummer!
Jet Harris RIP. Bruch Welch 3 chords and not much talent. Ungreatful git would never have got anywhere without Cliff Richards and all he can do is slag Cliff off behind his back. Christians make easy targets for the fool!
Sadly like me these older artist have lost the edge. Not as good as they played 5 years 50 years back, but thats to be expected. I loved it anyway! I also am awe struck by the collection of vintage instruments. Wow!
The Chantays, who wrote Pipeline, used a piano for the solo on a live performance on the Lawrence Welk Show. The Ventures have never used keyboards that I'm aware of but the Surfaris have.
I agree with Bill I have watched many Ventures videos and he is always irritating, he showboats and tries to out do the lead guitarist to make himself more important than he is. Look at the bass player doing his job playing good bass and hanging back a bit so as not detract from the lead tune. He even gets the lighting man to give him the spotlight.
