This is perfect to introduce to the game I am running. My player's have acquired a workforce of 16 goblins by killing their squad leaders. The bard convinced them they would have a better life working for the player's. On the farm the player's own is a portal that leads to a lovecraftian realm, that my player's are trying to unlock. Behind the locked door is a wounded gate guardian exposure to the guardian by simple proximity causes a slow ascension in to madness to any creature capable of complex thought with an intelligence mod that isn't negative but affects all other creatures in a different way so a can turn the goblins into this race as npc's. I can't wait for this
Verdan Cleric turning necromancer. It's been the most interesting dnd campaign I've been part of just in interaction. The DM and I decided that the random changes are random, ie, the DM rolls at random rests. I'm so used to playing knock-em-down tough guys, just trying to build the strongest character at the table, but not with Tibb, as their simple background as a clergyman in a farming community almost nerfed them at the start. Instead Tibb's roll-with-it attitude has become the strongest asset.
The Verdan would be good for a Martial character, or any class, as that Black Blood thing can make sure that one got back more hp on a short rest, or with Second Wind. Also, a +2 to Charisma would be a good way to see to it that non-charisma-based characters have at least a 10 there, using Standard Stat Array.
I'm about to pay D&D for the first time and wanted a character kinda like Styx, the goblin from the stealth games (and of Orcs & Men), but I didn't know if Goblins could be PCs. As luck would have it, our DM wanted an Acquisitions Inc. campaign, so the Verdan were a match made in heaven.
I wish that stat boost reflected their highly malleable nature. Maybe instead of a simple +2 Cha +1 Con, you could move those 3 points wherever you want, and the features were made useful for any class. Black Blood Healing, Telepathy, and maybe a free skill of choice. I’d be satisfied. Just really feels like a missed opportunity to do something special.
Yet another great video! I play a Verdan Bard named Vinny. He is a lot of fun to play. Thanks to your video, I will be adding the "wide eyed curiosity" element to his personality.
The Verdan reminds me of Dragon Ball Z in its design. I like the race mixed with the Aberrant Mind Sorcerer/ Warlock option with a real bend towards a chaotic neutral mind set with a possible bend to either N. Good or N Evil. While the race abilities are nice, the Verdan lends itself more for a character vs a min/max player. I kind of like the race, but will pass right over it for more practical races.
I want to try something that will not be the strongest way to play this race BUT hear me out. Rogue wizard multiclass. A verdan chaotic neutral who began at level 1 as a rogue that is very good at stealing things and lying to people. Gets level 3 arcane trickster cause he found interesting the magic then get to levels of wizard get school of enchantment and play with your enemies and others minds to get what you want, with an advantage in wis and charism saving throws and telepathy to have an advantage in what you can make them believe. Role play thank you. Also I don't know if there is a better race for this idea . Let me know.
Goblin mutating seem like a rather natural thing to me. Considering that they should be so many of them. I would probably not allow them to look very pretty or hansom though. One thing that seems flawed to me, is that they seem to be somewhat good creatures. How did that happen? They also seem somewhat anarchistic. So I would imagine they would have a very bad image to most societies. Perhaps they would have a history of migration. They would have had ancestors here and there, as they get kicked out of places. Or if they made a community themselves, I would imagine everything would break down and become rather horrible. They at least from my impression, would just not get and would probably not be quite able to deal with differences in status between groups and people. So the nobles would probably get rather pissed at these guys rather quick. They seem like they and society are polar opposites. Its hard to imagine how they would even function as a small tribe. In terms of their lifespan, I would probably say that 200 years would already be pushing it. Perhaps 220~250 ish at most. Although... I guess it could depend on their constitution. Being so... mutaty should have quite some negatives. Like it being very common to get cancer and such. So say their constitution times 15? That would allow them to live for a total of 300 years if they could mutate to having 20 con. I may also say that, unless they get have high int, they would not grasp rather complicated concepts, and that could tie in to their clash with societies. They would be more feelers than thinkers.
