This video was a lot of work but a total blast, it's always great when I work on a big project and I'm reminded throughout why I love this game so much!
Chippy: "I don't know how this company feels about their mascot" The mascot in question: is the most malicious, manipulative, murder-loving teddy bear to ever grace a school's grounds.
Fun fact: the "wig" for the shyren set is actually a hat. It's an type of old style weaved Japanese hat, and its commonly used as a anime/video game troupe for samurai-like characters. Typically having a triangle shaped piece missing from the front of brim to (usually) show a glowing eye. (For an example, look up a picture of "yojimbo" from "final fantasy 10")
Hmmm, could it be that the 1.2 update actually removed the Monomi and Toro sets so that the PS Vita and PS3 versions were the same? Maybe that automatic update of your version caused the problem. That would still mean that they were removed, but maybe they did exist. It would also explain why the PS3 exclusive sets are on the PS Vita version.
@@ChippyGaming hi! I was inspired to do some research regarding the Monomi & Toro costumes and found this on the JP Terraria console wiki -- > Monomi/Toro head - sold during blood moon (crescent moon or third quarter moon) > Monomi/Toro body - sold during blood moon (sold only on the first-quarter moon) > Monomi/Toro legs - sold during blood moon (sold on the day of the month of the 13th night, 26th night) I wrote a much longer comment regarding the costumes but it isn't showing up, so I reposted it without the source links and it still isn't showing up 😅 but please look into the moon phases on PS Vita as well! I believe early on at release the pieces were limited to one part of the costume per world, meaning you'd have to make multiple worlds or join a friend to get a full set.
Funny enough, Monokuma firing a gun could actually be cannon within the Danganronpa series. It simply makes complete sense given Monokuma's character and role
seeing gameplay of 1.2 console makes me wish that the engine software version (the 1.2 console developers) was retained for 1.3 and 1.4; there was something about that version that made it super stable and optimized rather than a raw port of the PC version to consoles that could get bugs
I played that engine software version for years. It certainly wasn't bug free but you are definitely right in that it just feels far more optimized for console, not necessarily even in terms of game speed but with respect to the UI/UX, it feels so much more natural on a console. I really miss it. I would have been fine with this new version being built from the ground up if the UX was more like the old version, especially with regard to the inventory/crafting
"I don't know how this company feels about their mascot, but seeing it wield a gun is goofy." If Chippy ever played Danganronpa he'd be laughing his head off
6:3d In 1.2 there were so many pets which got removed in 1.3 and I think a werewolf pet was also able to attack enemies and it wouldn’t take up any summoning slots.
Can confirm, as I have used this pet. However, I believe it only did one damage to most things, with two on crits. The most it was ever useful for was knockback-locking hordes of stuff on Blood Moons.
OMG THE PLAYSTATION VITA BRINGS SO MUCH NOSTALGIA. I didn’t use the vita but it’s the same version I played on the XBOX 360, DUDE the crafting menu is so memorable. One thing I was bummed about, they got rid of quick tools which were quite useful.
Dude I first played terraria on 3DS so when I went on to PC I kinda forgot moonlord and lunatic cultist existed lol. Duke fishron was basically the end boss for me lmao.
Here's an idea: try reformatting your PSP/deleting terratia's update data, then play through it again with the wifi disabled. My theory is that with the 1.2 update it brought parity with the page version which meant removing the vanity sets.
This PS Vita 1.2 camera reminds me of Terraria Overhaul so much, as if Terraria Overhaul's camera system was inspired by this. And the death screen on PS Vita is absolutely cool, I'd love having it in normal Terraria
For a little bit I was wondering where I heard about Shiren. After Chippy put on the hat I recognized it was actually Shiren the Wanderer from PS VIta game port. Makes kinda sense if the versions had Danganronpa in it too. Most of the times PS Vita and PS3 versions were the same just less powerful on the Vita but still, same versions. Like Minecraft is for both consoles
I used to play terraria on my xbox 360 all the time, and the setup here in the ps4 version just reminded me so much of terraria on xbox 360. It truly has become a nostalgic nostalgic thing to me remembering the old controls and the interface and that.
The changes in some games are so different it makes me jealous sometimes Also finally got terraria on steam, im currently playing the calamity mod, only have crabulon, skeletron, slime god and wall of flesh left in pre-hardmode Its so fun and such a fresh experience
The Toro set is only available under VERY certain circumstances; different moon phases and very certain nights while on a blood moon is the only time it's sold.
I wish so hard that Monokuma was actually the tombstone and in the chat it said "A body has been discovered!!!" with every death. +1 if the monster who doneit was dyed pink.
Fun fact, the shiren set is a reference to the original Mystery Dungeon series that the pokemon spin-offs are based from, and there's a sub series called Shiren the Wanderer that spans across 6 games including remakes :)
"I didn't want to make this video until I'd spent the time learning Japanese. And thanks to this video's Sponser, Duolingo you can learn it too- oh wait that was just my imagination
Hey chippy, something that I think you’d think is at least a little cool is that on the release of 1.4 mobile, they removed the shrine that spawns the Waldo picture, but the Waldo picture was never removed making it NEARLY unobtainable in the current version on mobile
Most likely, the reality is probably that the sets were pre-order or console/event exclusive items at SONY event centers or as a bundle deal with the release of the 2000 series ps Vita. I know Calamity mods add the Toro set in name only, but the item itself likely either was only a 1.0 exclusive item, or was hard coded and never turned on properly. My theory is its something similar to what Dark Souls 2 did with their timed item releases that had to be on specific dates. Once the release window passed, it stopped being updated into the game, is my theory.
@@neocricket9300 i swear no matter what pfp i use, people just start popping up with the same pfp it used to be mista from jjba, and i'd see the same one in every comments section anyway cool pfp
I also started with the vita version, now have the laptop version, and am doing my for the worthy run. it was very fun and chippy using the touchscreen seems very funny to me.
I do actually have the sprite sheets for all four of the sets. I'm planning on making a small 1.4 mod which re-adds them along with some others lost sets like console, mobile, & Chinese sets into it. Just gotta learn some modding things and that's all.
10:13 I think they'd be fine with it. if you haven't seen the Dongonrampa anime, or played the game. Monokuma is straight up evil and put "kids" into death trials, where the loser gets killed in very gruesom ways by Monokuma himself. Him using a gun would be pretty tame compared to the sort of things he does to those highschool students in the games/anime. *SPOILERS BELOW THIS LINE* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ . . . . . . . . . . An example (so you don't have to go and watch them) is He ties a girl to a school desk and chair and has them placed on a conveyor belt while he is giving her a lesson. The cover belt is inching ever closer to a machine that crushes things (Trash compactor) and he proceeds to teach his lesson until the point she is crushed by the machine. Another example is him summoning Gungnir (which is typically a mythical spea) to save him when one of the students has him under their boot. They get impaled by several skewers and blood flies everywhere. So yea. a gun would be pretty tame in comparison for sure, and a LOT less cruel/gruesome compared t some of the stuff he has done.
I’ve been so excited to watch this video ever since your post on Twitter about it, took a nap today, and here it is! I loved it, and I also wonder what’s up with those vanity sets? Not too sure
6:46 Anyone remember the days finding a floating island with no CLOUDS, the walls is made out of copper, silver, gold and the chest is actually golden chests???
The one thing that strikes me as odd about the only form of proof of the outfit in the photo is the fact that his inventory and health indicate that he just started. This may mean that he got it before the clothes in some way, or more likely, it was a dev testing item and/or spawned in from a previous character + world.
PS3/360 and 3DS also dug in rows of 3, so this is actually the way I learned Terraria. When 1.3 on consoles changed it to the way PC works, it really threw me off and took me a long time to get used to lol. It's so interesting hearing people say it's weird, when to me, the 2-row mining was the weird way to do it 😂🤣🤣
