Always loved this song but the day I was given the all clear from cancer at Manchester Royal I walked into Cafe Nero and this was playing, extra special.

I was 32 when this brilliant masterpiece was released. One month after a horrible drug overdose. This song was key instrumental in my recovery, and continues to be to this day. 24 years drug free, and definitely a Lucky Man !

The whole record is a masterpiece, what a production from 90's.

Okay, UPDATE: Since a few people wanted to know about my above comment from four months ago, this road trip was taken in October of 2014 with one of my good friends who was getting over the loss of another friend. For personal reasons, I am not going to give out his name. But, he called me out of the blue the day before and asked if we could just drive somewhere. His best friend from high school had committed suicide a few months before and he was really struggling with life and the loss. He picked me up on a Friday and we drove all night, ending up somewhere near Mazon, Illinois. We stopped at a Pilot truck station along the way for a break around 2AM and while washing my hands, I heard this over the PA and was mesmerized. Somehow, this song fit the situation perfectly. Both of us were struggling with the trials of life and yet, it made us realize we were both lucky men - still alive, fighting, even though things were tough. It made me appreciate the fact I had good friends and that I could be there for another person struggling with a loss. It's funny how music can do that. My friend and I both have a passion for railroads and ended up stargazing, attempting to solve the problems of the world, and watching freight trains roll through the night amongst open corn fields. A year later and every time I hear this, I go right back to that moment and think of where I was going and what life was like at that time.

"How many times do I have to learn all the love I have is in my mind?" What a profound lyric, that compels us to dig a little deeper and find love for ourselves and not expect it from others!! I've struggled with this for so long until I realized that the love you have for yourself defines every relationship in your life. All the love you need is within you!

As much notoriety Bittersweet Symphony received (and deserved) at the time, this song is their magnum opus in my opinion. Just classic from the first note until the last. One of my favorite 90s songs. Timeless. 🙌

Probably one of the best songs ever written

I’ve always liked this song. And I really am A LUCKY MAN. I fell down a flight of stairs in February 2023. And I was lying there unconscious all through the night for 12 hours. And an old lady taking her rubbish out in the morning found me and rang an Ambulance. I was in a COMA for 2 month’s. All In All I spent 9 Months in 3 Different hospitals. I’ve been out of Hospital now. For just over a month. From Charring Cross. Neurol Rehabilitation Unit. Learning how to walk again. I couldn’t even Swallow it was that Bad. A Month out now and I’m getting there. SORRY I HAD A BLEED ON THE BRAIN. IM GETTING THERE. AND I WILL GET THERE. THANKS. GEORGIE PRICE. WEST LONDON. XXX.

One of my favorite songs of all time!

I didn't know for the longest time that he says "And I love you, man" at 3:35... I thought it was "I'm a lucky man." It seems at varying intervals he is talking to a lover ("I watch you look at me, watch my fever grow"), himself (But how many corners do I have to turn?), and then - at the end, in this line - perhaps a friend, too. Special songwriting.

I have always thought this message in this song is powerful, but found much strength in it when wife wife divorced me this spring. I found music to be an inspiration to move on with my life.
