@@alexescutia4805 bro locked at 31 mins but still doing historic rookie shit , standing on business from when he said everything is a statement from here on
@@jasontroy3911 I think you might be a little too autistic. He’s a much better shooter than KD was his rookie year. And believe it or not, but Hakeem wasn’t quite the dream his rookie year either. You should take comparisons with a grain of salt from now on, your critical thinking is laughable.
@@jasontroy3911 he has very solid post moves. He can hit a hook, spin, drive, dunk what are you talking about?? The post is not nearly as popular as it used to be with spacing as it is…
He has a lot of dawg in him which impresses me the most, very competitive and not backing down as a 20 year old. He will dominate the league for years after his team gets a new direction (Pop is getting OLD)
Victor is something special I mean having more blocks this month then 6 other teams is crazy Victor Wembanyama -38 Bulls - 36 Kings - 36 Clippers - 36 Knicks - 35 Blazers - 30 Heat - 23
One of the weirder things about Wemby as a shooter is that he’s better on his pull up 3s than catch and shoots… so that shooting percentage is only gonna go up
His mentality is a real difference maker. Watch him walking to an arena. He‘s holding books. He missed draft parties because he goes to bed early to get his sleep. He likes art. He actually likes art. He‘s the most perfect spur in history of this franchise.
I think the most impressive part about Wemby is that his game is solid everywhere. Shooting? Check, Rebounding? Check, Defense? Check, Blocks? Check, Steals? Checks, Post up game? Check? Athleticism? Check, Passing? Check. He literally has everything that is basketball. He is the full 5 tool player. There is nothing on the court that he can't do and wont be able to do in the future
This kid just does things that no other 20 year olds should ever be doing… definitely of a generational talent.. i hate that we as nba fans throw that word around too much
To be honest everyone will be scared when he will began to drop triple double night after night I wouldn't be surprise if one day he even make a quintuple double. Just hope he stay healthy and have good player with him. He's definitely on the path to be a NBA legend.
The scariest thing about wemby is not his size, his speed, his feel for the game, his iq, his touch, his agility, not his coordination. The scariest thing is his mentality. He is of the MJ or kobe mold where he takes every little thing personal. This is very apparent when he is up against big names or someone like chet labeling him as his equal which he isnt and he took it personal. Lmfao.
I think what makes his mentality great is not the fact that he "takes things personally". It’s the fact that he, at only 20 years old, is already very mature and is taking his craft very seriously. He works on his flexibility to help prevent injuries, he trains a lot, he eats well, he is careful about his sleeping schedule. It’s like his whole life revolves around being the best basketball player he can possibly be. THAT is what makes him scary imho.
Scary how he seems very durable. Reminds me of Giannis a couple years back when his leg bent backwards and it looked like his season and possibly career was over, but turned out he only needed a couple games rest and won finals MVP and the chip.
Victor Wembanyama is what a perfect futuristic superstar center looks like. The fact that he is averaging 20-10 with 3 blocks per game by playing under 30 minutes per game is absolutely unreal.
@@vicedm1145pg and 30pt shooting is the spurs biggest weakness. Trae Young is not an answer at PG. He is a backup at best on a good team. Spurs 3pt shooting around Wemby is horrid too, wemby is the 2nd best shooter on this team behind Devin Vassell. That shouldnt happen a 7'5 mf should not be one of the best shooters on the team
@@jeffreyaquino4146 no he needs a PG who is a scoring threat. Like Tre Jones is a good passing pg but he isnt a scorer, so in the PnR the defender just always goes under the screen. That eliminates the roll for Wemby. Wemby needs a Tyreese Haliburton clone or Trae Young
I'm amazed how crafty he is and how good he is at finishing at the rim and I 'm mean not the dunks that I expected but finger rolls, soft touches they all seem to go in
that is crazy how my goat is already living up to the hype. my only worry is future injuries and team success, i really hope the spurs do a good job putting a contending team around him in the future
coming from a spurs fan this is one thing that people forget, We grow our role players into something special by giving them the playing time. Pop used to win with Dejuan Blair on the court. The start of the load management era was like this to some degree and I see the spurs doing this, They're gonna limit him to below 30 min a game in the regular season and then once playoffs hit he has full rain over his minutes to some degree. If you look at the stats he has very much Regular season tim duncan stats already! Once that playoffs hit tho duncan is giving you damn near 33 and 15 a night. I think to preserve Victor we do something compared to the old spurs format because it worked. People like Johnathon simmons and Dwayne Dedmon benefited off this because in the spurs system EVERYONE EATS!
Morris's 17 millions contract expires in the summer, alongside the 29 millions the Spurs are still paying to Bullock, Birch, Payne, Primo and Stevens. Tha team's payroll plummets from 140 to 118 and i would not be surprised if one or more summer free agent out there leaves money on the table to join Wemby
Get Trae to the Spurs. Please 🙏. Not saying Trae can’t win as a number one option in Atlanta but the org is not doing enough for him, he made conference finals in 2021 and since then his team has regressed.
Victor Wembanyama would be talked about on Mount Rushmore level. The type of player that my grand & great grand kids would only get to experience from watching old highlight reels, in epic true life movies, seeing his statues and images ALL OVER THE WORLD. This is exactly what we (at this very time) are all witnessing. Let that sink in. 🤯
I think Vic will end his career somewhere in top 5 GOAT conversation, likely the GOAT defender. I'd put his contention for MVP 5 seasons out and his DPOY/All-NBA contention as soon as next season. One of the most fun players I've ever had the pleasure of seeing hoop in 20 years of watching this league. Truly deserving of his Alien moniker 🔥
If he can stay healthy and continues to learn, he has no limits. He already makes NBA players look silly. Whats going to happen when he gets better and better?
Problem is the Spurs bench is horrendous. When Wemby sits they blow leads. On top of that his teammates are inconsistent. There isn't much spacing because they can't shoot. Rebounding isn't great. Overall they are just bad.
I could see him getting an 8x8 or even a 10x10… his passing is improving and he has great iq and court vision so his assists will go up along with having a better team to play with. Real difficulty with 5x5s being regular for him will be steals in the long run. Getting 5+ steals for a center is not easy.
The reason the Spurs can't unleash Wemby is because San Antonio isn't a popular free agent destination. They need to rebuild through the draft. If they start winning now, they'll just end up as a mediocre team. Pop's been around long enough to recognize that. Now that he's got his centerpiece, he still needs to surround him with a young core that he can grow with. Using high picks as trade assets is also an option but, seriously, San Antonio is a traditional builder, not buyer, of championships and, from what I've seen, other than Wemby, there's not much else to build around there.
Any free agent would love to play alongside Wemby in San Antonio. Wemby is the attraction and seeing how he is performing any player would be a fool to turn down the opportunity to play alongside him.
Spurs signed Le Marcus Aldrige as a free agent back in 2015. When he was an elite player in the league. Spurs can attract free agents when they make themselves an attractive franchise for free agents.
@@emilfrederiksen.1622 Don't call yourself a popular free agent destination when the only star free agent you can name is Aldridge. That's 1 in what, 10, 15 years? Let's face it, even with Pop helming team USA, the Spurs always found it tough to get stars to go there. Even with Timmy, Manu and Tony, the Spurs found it tough to attract star free agents. The only stars they can get are the washed ones. Bagging an elite free agent every once in a blue moon doesn't make you a popular free agent destination
His stats are upper level, but he's not putting up crazy average stats. He's a great player and will have a great career. I believe that, but I don't think he is a top tier elite player yet, minutes his defense. He is a beast on defense.
Victor is going to be the best player by the end of next season. And it might even be by the beginning of next season. He’s just too good. 7’3” that can dribble that looks nimble. Can defend any and everybody. Decent looking shot. If injuries aren’t an issue, I’m confident he’s gonna be the best ever. I’m talking putting up Russell type numbers.
The Spurs as an organization decided this year that they’re going to tank, they have a pick from Charlotte, which is a top 14 protected (and Charlotte sucks), and Toronto, which is top 6 protected (and Toronto is 7th worst in the league). Both those picks most likely won’t convey, so the Spurs knew that they had to tank in order to ensure a high draft pick this offseason. That’s why you saw Popovich starting Jeremy Sochan at point guard when we had a point guard in Tre Jones. It wasn’t about letting Jeremy learn point guard skills, it was about making sure that the team had a record that they couldn’t bring themselves out of. Pop also admitted “I’m not coaching him (Victor) for the first part of the season”, just sort of letting him play. Nothing really wrong with that, but had he coached the team from the get-go instead of tanking, this team probably could’ve been a play-in team. It’s all good though, as a Spurs fan, we are making sure the future will be brighter, and after next year, the Spurs have a lot of draft picks that don’t have protections for other bad teams. So in Victor’s emerging prime years, we will most likely have lottery pics to keep adding talent to the team. He’s had a hell of a year though, I’m so happy that he’s on the squad.
I mean, there are SO MANY "Wemby ... Problem" videos popping up right now. The hype is getting incredibly loud. ... and it really doesn't bother me (as a Spurs fan) because Victor is so mature and grounded that he can handle it.
Wait until he figures out that a simple hook shot is impossible to guard because of how tall and lengthy he is. In a few years he'll be the most dominant player in the league.
Wonder if he could put up a 5x10 in the near future, since he's already had 10 block game vs TOR and almost pulled off a triple double last game. 10 steals with that wingspan isn't too crazy in a full 48
i just wanna see his quadruple double and penta double statlines. All the crazy stuff we hear about wilt and don’t believe. I think wemby is here solely to make us believe and then be in disbelief.
I hope the spurs make some win-now moves to get wemby’s career moving quick. Hopefully it doesn’t end up like Luka with the mavericks where they can’t build a good contender with him
You do realize the Mavericks struggled to build a good team around Luka BECAUSE they made win-now moves right? Same thing happened (to a worse extent) to the hawks and Trae Young. Best way to build a team around a player is to be patient and build through the draft. Making win-now moves ensures you stay in mediocrity and may get lucky one year and scrape by and win just ONE championship. Spurs are trying to build a young dynasty. Cant do that with a 20 year old and a bunch of 30 year olds.
That's a huge example for NOT making win-now moves just to contend right away. Because speedrunning rebuilds almost never goes well. Potential for instant gratification is not worth sacrificing a dynasty.
He needs a good PG and better defensive teamates. If the spurs take Trae Young, wich isn't said to be any kind of a good defense player, the spurs will have to reinforce themselves with defensive players and at least 1 good 3 points shooter. Trae wouldn't be enough to get Victor to the highest level, even though it's a good begining.
He is his team just sucks. DPOY basically means best defensive player on a good team. Which means Jarett Allen or Rudy Gobert will win it even tho Wemby is a way better defender.
The problem with Wemby is he wants the stats and can’t win. Everyone said it is his teammates, but with good teammates he couldn’t even beat Gleague team
Victor’s numbers are inflated because the Spurs are a very bad basketball team. Spurs are so pathetic that Wemby puts himself into games just like he did against OKC Chet Holgram. Chet is actually a better player than Victor because Chet is having impact with his team’s success.
@@anthonybousquet1585 Chet will get ring first. Wemby can look at his worthless rookie of the year trophy because that’s all he’s playing for this season.
@@mikechambers4101I don't understand how playing with bad teammates inflate your numbers. For example, if your teammates can't shoot a 3, you don't get many assists. They took 30 games to understand how to throw an alley oop, although Vic makes it so easy. But Chet is also a very good player and OKC is so fun to watch. So you don't need to get mad at Vic for getting drafted by one of the currently worst team in nba (because it is precisely how draft works).
