I don't even like sunroofs! But if you have one it's good to keep it functioning and that's best accomplished by keeping it clean and properly lubricated.
Products used in this video:
Shin-Etsu Grease - amzn.to/2KCXlLr
Microlubrol Ultimox 226 - amzn.to/2Ky88X8
Gleitpaste - (Sorry not on Amazon.. get it from Ebay or your local Mercedes Benz dealer!)
Finger cots! - amzn.to/33DvoKW
Volkswagen/Audi sunroof grease - if you try it out let me know how you like it in the comments! amzn.to/2Z5oj6a

Thats informative stuff. but alongwith this experiment, you should also video how to clean the sunroof channel and apply the grease (which passed this test). Because applying grease is also very important. Some grease are just applied tiny bit and exactly on the sliding parts and sometimes you need brush to apply grease on the sliding surfaces.

Found ULTIMOX 226 on e-bay for $19.95 - $10 less than Amazon.

you've missed the friction surfaces that are responsible to lift the roof back up flush and tilt when moving forward. The friction is what strains the cable spring-rope that wants to carve a channel in the 90° turn back towards drive gear. 😁

Use Graphite or Teflon spray, grease attracts dirt

Gleitpaste & Ultimox are PTFE (Teflon) just in a spreadable form instead of a spray. If you handle it you'll see it's not really quite like grease (and the Gleitpaste is packaged + recommended by Mercedes for this specific purpose)

It is! Well.. a 2000 model year. I sold it in 2019 but know the current owner and it's still on the road running strong with 330k+ miles

@@shoveI I can believe it! I currently have a 1994 Mitsubishi Montero Sr with 204,455 and I’m having trouble for 1. Finding my moonroof leak. For 2. Mine opens and closes extremely slow

@@kadent7320 removing the whole assembly isn't THAT much work really if you set aside a day and have some shade to work under. Then you can pull the cables out, brush them clean, relubricate them and it'll TURBO back and forth! For the front drains you can poke them out with weed wacker line, and also make sure the rear lower portion of your front fenders aren't full of leaves and crap. You can access that area from inside the wheel well, unscrew the plastic liner and hose it all out with a garden hose. If you park under trees that drop leaves or if you have driven through a lot of deep mud that area can be filled with crap and plugged up. The rear drains can be poked clear from underneath once you find them in the back of the vehicle.
