Along a section of National Cycle Route 15 from The Viking Cafe, Pegwell Bay to Prince Edward's Promenade Park, Ramsgate.
National Cycle Route 15 is a mostly off-road cycle route joining Sandwich to Whitstable. Part of Route 15 from Cliffsend to Sandwich is also known as the Viking Coastal Trail due to this area being where Vikings first landed in Kent around AD-850.
Along the way the Viking Coastal Trail passes through Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Margate, Westgate-on-Sea, Birchington-on-Sea, Reculver, and Herne Bay. The total Viking Coastal Trail distance is 33.4 kilometres taking 2 hours to cycle or 7 hours to walk.
Prince Edward's Promenade Park, Ramsgate, opened in 1929. The park had a wide almost 1km long walking path (Prince Edward Promenade), bandstand, tea pavilion, putting greens, bowling greens, tennis courts, croquet greens, sun shelters, and pathways plus an elevator down to beach level at the base of the chalk cliffs.
Although in decline today, Prince Edward's Promenade Park is still home to a boating lake, cafe, bowling greens and croquet greens, with a clear view out to sea towards east Kent and across to France.
