You're honestly in my top list whenever you put out videos. I like your composition and story telling. I've cleared your library of released videos on all the gods youve done so far.
Truly, i send your videos to friends that have interests, (but also lack willingness to read) about the norse mythology. Anything to help. I enjoy it, seems so do they. Even tho they will probably not read this to confrim it lol.
It is quite telling, or social commentary if you will, that when Frigg and Freyja seems to split into two the custom of a official mistress on the side (aka "Frilla") seems to gain popularity in the higher classes and seen as a symbol of wealth (because the man had to pay for two households). Some wives even facilitated these Frilla-relations in order to gain to the family's (aka her childrens inheritence) reputation and status and as such were totally ok with the arrangement. That is until a frilla challanged or threathen the wife's place as the queen of the household, which would/could be punished violently. Anyhow the role Freya often plays in Norse mythology is sort of that of a Frilla. This while Frigga takes the role of a wife, queen and mother.
I've been studying asa tru/Norse myth since 1988, and consider myself asatru/Odinist. I have to honestly say your pretty on spot in which you share, and you have good information. I also like your style of story telling, very humorous and informative. Glad I found your channel and I am looking forward to more of your videos.
This channel is the number one reason I don't get a damn thing done for the first 20 or so minutes of my day. I get to my desk, I fire up my computer. I notice that I have gotten a notification that a new Briefed video has dropped.... What do we say to the god of returning work emails? Not today. I so appreciate this deep dive into Freyja. She's such a fascinating goddess, and one of the most beloved and worshiped gods in Scandinavia. As a huge cat-lover, she's top of my list too. Along with Thor (who due to the ancientness of Indo European peoples pretty much always worshipping a Storm God with a similar root name: Donar, Thunar, etc most likely heavily predates what we think of as the Aesir) she was one of the most honored fertility gods as society grew more agrarian. Cats were considered sacred to her. This could be due to a few reasons. From a stand point of her being a Lady, cats were not exactly native to Scandinavia. They were brought in here and there and really only started to show up more during the Viking age when they were brought back in larger numbers, and for a time, were something only someone with means would have purchased, especially in Iceland where a great deal of our understanding Norse myth is filtered through. The other reason is a more practical one as a fertility goddess. Leave out bowls of milk to honor the beloved animals of Freyja and she'll bless the crops....it will also attract more cats that will eat the mice that eat the crops ;) I sometimes feel that Freyja gets glossed over a bit. Painted as lusty or haughty. Painted as a object to be bartered. However, we're talking that the goddess that supposed taught Odin Sedre. He couldn't do that on his own. She gets first pick of the fallen, which makes her a death goddess as well. She wants something, the dwarves name their price, and she gets what she wants. She's not tricked into it. She's not forced into it. She uses her empowerment as a sexual being to obtain one of the most famous pieces of Dwarven craft in all of mythology. She rocks. Can't wait for the next video:)
loved reading that comment. I really appreciate when people take the time to drop these insightful comments that add additional info. thank you, and thank you for the support. next video is on aphrodite and it's even longer ahah. it'll drop on Saturday
Amazing video! Love to hear you talk about Freya is such a passionate and empowering way. She’s been an inspiration to woman for hundreds of years and hopefully will for a thousand more thanks to people like you spreading her stories 💚
This might be my favorite video so far. Love the detail, and even the "assumptions" that are made here seem like logical connective tissue between the known legends. Great stuff!
I've always been a history buff, but let's be honest: adulthood can be a real drag. Between work and life's never-ending to-do list, my passion for history took a back seat. But, buddy, stumbling into your channel? A total game changer. I first started watching your vids yesterday. I think I binged like five or six of them in one go. Subscribed and hit that bell quicker than you can say "ancient history" because I can't miss out on whatever you're up to next. So, what hooked me? Your narrative, man. It is something else. It transports me back to high school, where Mr. McCann used to spin history like it was the best thing imaginable. Watching your films seems like I'm back in his class, but with a new twist. It's more than simply a trip down memory lane; you have something unique going on. You make these old stories and legends feel as if they're occurring now. Your perspective on the old play is outstanding. You're not simply narrating stories; you're bringing them to life for those like me who believed the magic was vanished. You're like a history magician, guy, making the past come alive in ways that are easily understood now. Congratulations for your exceptional storytelling abilities. that's as if you're giving us an exclusive backstage access to the old world, and I'm all for that. Every video seems like stepping into a time machine. And, just for jokes, but honestly, I'm praying to the almighty Briefed right now: keep doing what you're doing. Your channel is a treasure for history aficionados looking to reconnect with their ancestry in the most exciting way imaginable. Thank you so much for reigniting my interest in history. You're doing something fantastic here.
man this is such a beautiful comment. thank you so much really. reading that meant a lot - I appreciate you for this Stuart. And, don't worry - I'll keep em coming. Next upload day is tomorrow.

I came upon your wonderful show just by chance. I know not of these characters except for Loki, because of Disney. You make all of this information very interesting and the art work is beauty. You are a wonderful story teller.
Iv wanted to get more involved with mythology for years especially Norse mythology. I have to say that as someone who just started looking into Norse gods and mythology, also someone who just found your channel I want to say thank you bringing comedy into it as it helps me to remember things. So, thank you for what you do
This is the best mythology channel out here and I hope you never stop. Going to creep on your patreon now. And it takes A LOT for me to even consider contributing to someone's patreon because I am not able to turn my tears into gold 😂
New subscriber here.I have watched several of your videos and I have to say I quite enjoy listening to your thoughts and obvious thorough research on the topics you talk about. I am a follower of the old gods particularly Odin and The Morrigan. I would be very interested in seeing you do a video on The Raven Queen herself sometime. Please keep up the awesome content and I will continue to tune in. Regards from New Zealand.
I love your videos they are the reasons that got me interested in mythology. I first saw your video on TikTok and I'm so glad that you are on RU-vid, can't wait for the next video.
Was coming to comments to ask about the freyja and frigg confusion but got my answer. Looked it up as well and got like nothing from the internet and i was left more confused.

Stumbled upon your channel today. So far I've watched every single one of your Greek hero videos. Going to watch all your Norse and Greek Gods and Goddesses videos next. As a huge fan of both Greek mythology and Norse mythology (the latter because I'm Swedish) so you know. Heritage. I absolutely LOVE your work! Keep them coming.

Just wanted to say I love this channel. I work a lot on the road and on my drives I throw on this channel & the Why Files. Always good storytelling, always comparing facts to hear say, allowing you to make your own judgement and come to your own conclusions. Keep up the good work and keep me BRIEFED
I think Freyja might be a Dawn Goddess too. There was a video made by Survive the Jive in which he highlights several important points about her like: her amber tears, high sexual appetite and several lovers. Many of these things are shared with Eos/Aphrodite (Aphrodite might be a later offshoot of Eos, yet she preserves an archaic tradition in which she is the daughter of Zeus). Also, the Dawn Goddess in Indo-European traditions is the sister (twin sister maybe) of the Divine Horse Twins. Helen of Troy (another possible dawn goddess) is sister of the Horse Twins, Brigid in Ireland is the sister of Áengus and Freyja clearly has a twin brother in Freyr. The Anglo-Saxons had Eástre/Eostre and it is believed that she is the Dawn Goddess of the AS. Some sources: Taliesin's Map: The comparative guide to Celtic Mythology by J. Dolan. The gods of the Celts and the Indo-Europeans by Garret Olmsted JIVE TALK: Is Freyja the same goddess as Ostara? - Name of Surive the Jive's video about this topic.
survive the jive. never heard of it, gonna check that out. to add to that: Eos also had an affair with ares, who of course is mainly Aphrodites partner - so that adds to eos=aphrodite
@@Briefed_Mythology Exactly. This trope is shared between Fand and Cú Chulainn in Irish Myth. Fand is the spouse of Manannán Mac Lír, who might be a god associated with the heavenly fires (not precisely smithing) and she also has an affair with Cú Chulainn. Then Manannán arrives a places a veil between both lovers and causes that Fand will forget Cú Chulainn.
Bro I love these videos, maybe you can do a video on Pan from Greek mythology, he’s like a forgotten god and I think it would make a funny and interesting video.
@@Briefed_Mythologyoh shit this the first time a RU-vid/Creator has responded to me I appreciate this, and no problem your videos are the best, I’m a fan.
this is crazy. why the hell you don't have at least a million subscribers? I love your content and my students love your content though for my students I have to skip the gangbang part! great job man really great job
Hy there; I really enjoy Your videos. You do a great Job. But i have to correct you in one Point. To my Knowledge it was Hrimthur to build the Wall around Asgard and Svadilfari was the Name of his Horse.
Loved the video brother thank you so much for putting these out consistently! I believe the theory that they were the same person just called different names!
She picks warrior poets to keep her "company" until ragnarok. The warriors in valhalla are the berserker insane warrior that fighting eating, and drinking matter more.
