Haven't made it to this trail yet but really want to. Have you been to the Majorie Taylor Green Cross Valley? That one is my favorite. I enter at the Santos trail head.
Yes we have. There is also a nice trail in Dunnellon that we did a video on (Blue Run/Swampy's) and one in the Payne's Prarie State Park (just south of Gainesville) which was hilly (as hilly as you can get in Florida).
Dunnellon has a nice bike trail at Blue Run, not long but very scenic. We have a video on that. Also did a video on the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail at Paynes Prairie State Park about a 50-minute drive. 16 miles long and has some hills, which is different from where we are.
Thanks for your bike trail videos & for all of the facts & other things that you talk about during your videos. We will be moving to Orlando after retiring next summer & will be looking for a place close to Disney where we would not have to cross I-4 to get there. I wish we could move to Golden Oak, but we don't have the $ for that. We are thinking about Celebration, Dr. Phillips, Winter Park, Clermont or Kissimmee. I look forward after moving there to riding on all of the awesome bike trails like the West Orange & the Courtney Campbell Causeway. If you have any ideas on where I should look for a place or people I should contact then please don't hesitate to let me know. I can't wait to get out of the hell of IL. because the government sucks, the taxes are too high, the weather is not good & it is very boring. Florida is the opposite of all of those things.
All those places you mention are good locations. Florida is great for the taxes but is a killer on homeowner's insurance if you live anywhere near the coast. Stay to the center of the state and you can get to either coast in 90 minutes. For bike riding, I hope you like flat trails because that's all we have here unless you go to North Florida. Good luck on your retirement!
@@PrydeofTheVillages Thanks for all of your advice about insurance and bike trails. I'm used to flat trails and I understand that Sugarloaf Mountain is the place to go if I want to go to a hilly area. We want to be less than 15 minutes from Disney World without having to travel on i-4 to get there. We are willing to pay a little bit more for home insurance to get out of Illinois and move to Florida.
Iron 12, no we don't. We are very leisure riders. Not sure if the Villages biking groups get out to the Van Fleet trail. But we saw groups of serious cyclists on the trail and most were moving very fast past us.
