I like how in the animated movie the Calendar Man got an atmosphere of his own. Jim Gordon and Batman are nervous being around him, and that makes the viewer uncomfortable too. Nobody says why he's put away, but he's still treated as a consultant for the most prolific serial killer the city has seen in years. Absolutely chilling.
Her design in this comic is totally ridiculous but that's why I like it lol, it's a shame they blew it off for a much more generic Catwoman design in the animated adaptation. (That goes for most of the aesthetic in the animated one actually.)
They drew her like a female bodybuilder with a bit more testorone, the costume is sexy so they could've added this in the animation but less "ridiculous" on the muscles imao
@@MakeFood-sc4of yeah, there's no way she would be able to move like Catwoman with that much mass. There actually is a point at which your muscles can't get out of their own way. There's a reason you don't have Big Barda acrobatic and super flexible maneuvers
I just saw the panel after reading y’all’s comments… dude she’s not even that big at ALL wtf lol she’s not even half as muscular as a typical CrossFit girl
So, from what I understand, the first Holliday Killer was Gilda, who shot up Johnny V, the Irish crew and Falcone's bodyguard, Milos. Then, Harvey tried to kill Alberto but failed (notice how the glass of champagne is not coloured like the previous objects left by Holliday were, showing that the hit had failed and Alberto was alive). Alberto takes up the mantle and starts taking out Maroni's family, until he gets caught after killing Sal. And finally, Two-Face kills both Falcone and Vernon. My only question would be who killed Carla Viti?
I love the fact we see the gradual manifestation of Two Face. At 6:30 during the destruction if the Falcone money, Harvey notes the mass amount of cash and it being untraceable then Harvey entertains the idea of just a small amount of this cash would be... only for Batman to cut him off. Dent's more criminal instincts are there under the surface but its built up perfectly. 5:18 Same could be said for the meeting that Catwoman spies on. Dent seems to take a bit of joy in Johnny Viti being made to finish with all his living. 'Two bullets to the head. You ask me it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.' Two Face gets the slow burn treatment. Great slow build storytelling.
Check out his other world with loeb, superman for all seasons, spiderman blue, daredevil yellow, hulk gray, Captain America white, and of course the sequel to this book, dark victory.
You guys are finally doing it ! I'm typing before I watch the video, I hope calendar man gets some respect for being interesting and mood setting for the plot
Thank you Rob, finally I get to see the clear version of the long halloween. I do think it was Harvey masquerading as Alberto though, not only he showed skill at disguising himself, but also his mental breakdown did not develop at that level in just one night 👀🤔
I remember the first time I read this story. Still have it on my shelf as well. Heck when I worked for a theatre we worked with the local comic shop to give it away during The Dark Knight release. A few copies at least. It was fun!
To me there’s only two holidays killers Gilda and Harvey. Gilda confirms Harvey did kill as the holiday killer but she was the main Holiday. Now Alberto isn’t a holiday killer it was just wanted to take credit for it to prove something to his dad because he knew the real holiday wasn’t going to be caught. My evidence for this is Alberto didn’t bring anything with him for the holiday present and left witnesses. The holiday killer has 3 main things. 1. The .22 pistol with serial number files and a baby bottle lid. 2. Brings a present to leave for the holiday. And 3. Kills everyone there so no witnesses. I’m pretty sure when Riddler was attacked it wasn’t a holiday so he lives.
I feel like Harvey found out about Gilda being the holiday and took her place out of fear she’d go down, and honestly because he wanted to bring them down. For Alberto I think Harvey let him go because technically Alberto wasn’t a gangster and I think he just wanted to prove something to carmine by killing Moroni
My brain is so weird. As soon as I heard how Gilda was an almost murder victim in that bomb... I knew it was her immediatly, then completely pushed that aside.
The new and awesome/amazing Penguin series takes a lot away from this too. ( On a side note the actress that plays Sofia Falcone is the most beautiful woman in the world)
To answer your question Rob I believe that both Harvey and his wife were the holiday killers. If I’m not mistaken when she sees Harvey in the basement flipping the coin it doesn’t seem like she was concerned or surprised of his mental breakdown. When you marry someone the vows do include loving your spouse in sickness or in health. Gilda was well aware of Harvey’s condition and hated that his work pushed him to be split quite literally in two. She’s believed in both sides of Harvey Dent that crime had to be eliminated so she can be with her husband.
Funny thing is, I recently started reading Batman series as per the recommended Fandom and you decide to make a video after all these years on this. I've always been literature-lucky.
Honesty best halloween batman villain is The Reaper. Batman is afraid of Caspian that he even uses guns and bullets in atempt to win over him.. This iconic villain is from year two batman era.
Really wished we got a long Halloween live action movie. Hard to do it with The Batman with what’s happening in The Penguin. But would of fit better in the Batman series compared to the upcoming DCU movie
It would actually. Probably better than an empty bottle, which is a common rigged silencer. As long as you put it on the muzzle right, the idea is to reduce the compressed air blast (the pop of the shockwave) by essentially knocking it back into itself. No silencer reduces the sound to zero, but the goal is sound diffusion.
So wait the ending in the animated version was true? With Gilda still being the holiday killer? Usually the animated universe changes things .. I guess it was a more comic accurate version. Now yes some plot details were changed like how she was going to marry a falcone originally before Harvey in the movie but the biggest twist remains the same?
I know that some may not have liked it the animated movie adaptation of the long Halloween. But to me in my personal opinion I actually liked it the two part animated movie and how the twist in that one was a bit better compared to the comic book.
