"Animalize" was the very first "Kiss" record I bought way back in March '85, I was 15! "Kiss:killers" was actually released in 1982, "lick it up" was '83!
That was a great video, Mikko! I love the vintage Yamaha equipment behind you. Also, I think I have to shop for records from Finland. Here in the United States, we don't have any of those ... what do you call them .... BLACK colored records. Very cool! ;-) Cheers! Tom
Hi Tom! Check out The Omega Order. They are the official distributor for Svart Records, which is the most interesting Finnish record label these days. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Mikko, I'll check them out. I've only got two records on the Svart label; the most recent one I got was the album 'Climax' by Beastmilk which is fantastic post-punk. They have recently changed their name to Grave Pleasures (I think) but I haven't heard their music yet. They are no longer on Svart ... but now I'm going to explore more Svart releases. Thank you for the reminder! Cheers, Tom
It was great to listen to all your stories behind the 20 Vinyl Tag questions. Sorry to hear about you have lost your older brother though. And thanks for the shout out :)
Hi Mikko, That is a beautiful pressing of Mighty Blimp's debut album. > Very cool to hear your story behind Kiss's 'Animalize'. I would say that it was the perfect album to start you on your journey. I am sure that every Kiss collector in the VC would agree. Comparing that you my very first record which was a 7" of Bobby Vinton's 'Roses Are Red' is like night and day. Very cool of your dad. Beautiful Genesis box set. That is my favorite era of the band. I guess that everyone has so many favorite bands. I remember seeing you show the Tarot album before. Is that a tough one to find now? 'Back In Black' was a great way to start off the 80's for AC/DC. I was fortunate to have seen the show at a small theater called The Orpheum in Boston. Angus was on top of Brian's shoulders and they came through the orchestra onto the stage to start the show. I had seen them with Bon in a club two years previous. You could tell that their sound was a whole lot fuller in 1980. One of the best hard rock bands ever. A great 'feel good' choice. This was also a 'feel good' vinyl tag. I enjoyed it very much~ Rob/Boston
The Yamaha continues to spin and looks better than ever. You forgot to mention the 4/k lp's your hiding in the shed in the backyard / second 'secret' music room ;-) This was pure Mikko, fantastic video brother. - Lj
Thank you for "Viitasen Piia". Sampled some (eilen luvattiin lunta) and it reminded me of Shawn Colvin (for example" Another plane went down"), both in music and also in cleaver lyrics (=sometimes slightly strange) stuff. Great
Hey Mikko Great video, going to do one of these myself, eventually! Love your choice of coloured vinyl, thankfully they didn't ask for a picture disc, ha ha!! And your most played record Seventh Son, like you i think i must have played that 100s of times, still a classic album, and still probably my favourite of all time. Cheers Dean
Hello from California. Enjoyed your vinyl tag and I did one the other day in fact. I have one album from the late 1970's that is Finnish. The band is Finnforest and the album is Demonnights. I really like it very laid back jazz-fusion have you got or heard of it?
Rand Kelly Hello! I know the band but unfortunately I don’t have any of their records. The original pressings are really hard to find. Luckily Svart Records have reissued the just awhile ago. Maybe I’ll get them some day. Thanks for watching!
It was an easy guess that Kingston Wall records would become collectibles, but not this quickly. I don't wanna sound pretentious, but i own a lot of black vinyl, believe it or not. I knew you were gonna show Maarit, but i was expecting to see some other album of hers. I've never heard of Viitasen Piia. And she has two albums out already? Good video. Pasi
black vinyl? ..... shit man, thise are hard as fuck to get..... I'm still on the killer haunt for a grail of that magnitude \,,/ THE PROPHECY the best song off that album! cheers bud JC/Miami
