I really disagree with the point of "whenever you're attacking a leg you want that one to be heavy," he even refuted this in his own point of shoving them hard. You shove them hard to to shift their weight to the back foot. Wrestlers and judokas know this, when you shoot a good single leg in wrestling, you drive with chest/shoulder pressure to push them backwards, making the leg closest to you light. Trips in judo operate under the same principle, you attack an uchi mata by hipping in, pushing them towards the rear leg so you can elevate the lead leg. I agree that having them come forward can be a good setup to expose the ankle for picking, but saying the leg should be heavy when you go to pick it up isn't true. You're not stronger than that leg, you gotta get it light to beat its strength.

Whenever you try to ankle pick someone that doesn't have their weight on the foot it makes it a lot easier for them to turn and escape. Yes we smash into them to shift the weight to the back foot, but initially I want the weight on the front foot to get the best grab on the ankle.

Ankle picks aren't single legs and have different mechanics. You want weight on the leg that is being attacked so it sticks. Even better to have their head over their toes. Also your point about judo shows how little you understand the game. There are throws like osoto gari that require you to get weight on the leg being attacked. Different attacks, different mechanics.

Buchecha would probably disagree seeing he was really good at this.

Yoel Romero would also disagree and last I checked this was grappling. Maybe you should watch a krav maga video instead

Works for me in MMA rule sparring where knees are allowed 🤔
