I wanted to redo the dance video I did because the quality was soo bad. And it was one of my favorite videos. and the episode Felicity’s Spring is one of my favorite episodes in the Virginian and definitely my favorite episode of James Drury.
Based on the episode Felicity’s Spring.

Emily this is Katherine Crawford, (Feliicity) and I must tell you how wonderful this video is. I've been playing it and crying for two days! It makes me wish we could move back in time and come at it from a different place than when we were (I was) so young. I was so uncomfortable with Jim, and he took a dislike to me.. so sad and really caused by my shyness I am sure. sadly. Who wants to be with someone who is so shy and moves away from any communication?? But this video will be one of my strong favorites of everything I did.. What is your background? How did you learn to do such an exquisite job? And the MUSIC ! Simply wonderful.. Are you a pro? you have real talent. And I am so grateful you made it.. Thank you!

Wow, this is a honor! Thank you sooo much! I’m so glad you liked it! It’s nice to hear your side of that happened. I’m eighteen years old and I’ve been watching westerns since I was little, starting with Roy Rogers and such. I started watching the Virginian about two years ago. That I don’t know... 🤷‍♀️ Lol you can thank Garth Brooks for that lol no I just do them because I like doing them! Thank you! I’m glad you think so! You’re welcome!

@@emilysullivan2336 Emily that's amazing! Truly you must go show your things to a studio or network or something.. so they can hire you to edit for them.. it's a fine occupation and you are already more talented than most of them. You have talent. Believe me. I just thank you so much. And you are so young. One year younger than I when I played Felicity. And you are just beginning. I am getting on now, (it was shot in 1963 I think.. so count the years. But we never forget those days, and you have made it so easy to get right into it all and enjoy it beyond words. I answered Laurie, below, about why Jim and I were not friends during the filming.. so everyone can understand it. I must say it is hard to believe when I see this now. He was so magnificent and had such love in his eyes. And so did I. We were friends later though. Until he sort of left Hollywood. How long has this been up? I just found it. Could Jim have seen it before he died? This was his favorite show of all of them and I wish he could have seen your cut. I have subscribed to you now. But I don't think anything could be better than this.. Thank you again Emily. My son, below, has asked if we could get a digital copy. We'll pay for it of course.. what do you think? It would be only for personal use.

Emily I told my husband I wrote to you saying you should present your videos to networks or studios, and he said that really you should go to film school...that way you’d broaden out and have even more potential... I don’t know if that’s something you might consider.. are you going to college next year? the best film schools are NYU in NY city, and USC in Los Angeles... look them up.. they look for people who are creative, as you are, innately. Your grades are less important. What are your plans as of now for when you graduate..which is now I presume? I just want to encourage you to set your goals high.

@Kathy Price thank you! I’m very glad you think so. You’re very welcome, It’s my pleasure! I didn’t realize that you were that young when you filmed that episode, you did a excellent job! I couldn’t believe it either, you both acted soo well together! That’s good! I uploaded this video in January... I had put up the same video about year or so ago that had terrible quality so I redid lol okay awesome thank you! You’re very welcome. Yes I’m working on trying to get it to y’all, there’s no need to pay for it since I technically don’t own it. Lol but other then that I think it would be fine!

Really? I’ve never even thought of that... lol I wasn’t planning on it... I haven’t found anything really that I want to go to college for and hadn’t thought of something like that... okay thank you! Just to continue working at the moment lol thank you! I appreciate that!

I saw this particular episode on TV when it first aired. A real tearjeker. The older sister played by Mariette Hartley knows that the younger sister (Felicity) played by Katherine Crawford is terminally ill and wants her to have one last wonderful Spring. Felicity doesn't know that she's dying and Hartley's character allows the Virginian to fall in love with her without telling him. Interestingly, James Drury and Mariette Hartley acted in "Ride The High Country", the year before Drury was cast as "The Virginian". In that movie, Drury played a loathsome bad guy whom Hartley marries before she finds out just how bad he is. If you haven't seen "Ride The High Country", it's worth seeing on many levels; it's a fine, elegaic western and was one of the last movies for long time western stars Joel McRea and Randolph Scott. It also gives you a sense of just how good an actor Drury was. Drury played a lot of bad guys on various TV shows before he became a good guy on The Virginian.

To Katherine Crawford ; I have watched this now, probably too many times, and cried each time. This episode touched so many people; more than fifty years since it was filmed the emotion that you and James Drury brought to the story endures. The look in your eyes, and his...... it truly was a great love story and one to be cherished, and yes, wouldn't it be wonderful to go back to when I was watching "The Virginian" with my family as a young girl, I loved it then and do now. I read the posts here and was so touched that you took the time to comment. and support the young woman who created it. Thank you both for the memories and rest in peace dear Mr. Drury.

I just read Katherine Crawford's comment made 3 yrs ago about this Wonderful Video you produced (then reloaded in COLOR like all the other VIRGINIAN videos). I totally feel the same way Katherine does about THE DANCE video as well as the episode Felicity's Spring. I watch it everyday even though it brings tears to my eyes the love they shared fills my heart with joy. It's so true what Felicity said to her students about life. Thank You so much for all THE VIRGINIAN videos.❤

🥺 i’m so bummed! i hadn’t heard of Mr Drury’s passing just last month. 😢 So reason i know now is that this series is on TV 📺 on INSP channel. This month (i think in honor of the V’s recent death) they’re running clips of very current interviews with James. This episode used to be on RU-vid but now i can’t find it. 🤷‍♀️ i am THRILLED to find this tribute to that Felicity’s Spring episode! 😃 So on the TV clip before this episode aired Mr Drury mentioned that he and Katherine Crawford didn’t get on. Actually what he said was “i HATED her and i’m sure she felt the same.” 😤 Said they since became great friends and he has no recollection of _why_ he didn’t like her in the first place! 🙆🏼‍♀️ He also declared that considering that it was such an emotional and beautiful episode, and that they really _HATED_ each other irl, it certainly PROVED what GREAT ACTORS they were! 🎭 lol, _MODEST,_ eh? 🤭 But truly, he was RIGHT! 😬 OMGOSH he was such a wonderful man, i’m soo grateful that someone recorded some of his final words. 🎙 Sorry this is so long but i also can’t tell you how GRATEFUL i am to find this clip here on RU-vid! 🎉🥳 It was so touching to watch AND this gave me the opportunity to share what he said about that particular program! SUCH A GIFT! 💝 TYTYTY for posting!! 😘

Laurie, this is Katherine Crawford, and I can explain what happened. I was very young, 19, and very very shy. Uncomfortable. Whenever I worked I tended to stay away from the series leads because I felt too insecure. What would I say to them? So, I never approached them, as I might later after the shyness was gone. And if someone shies away from you, it is natural to assume they don't like you. So shy people often create this negative response, which they don't realize they are the cause of. A mistaken impression, and sad for all. Then, he and Mariette had a definite something going on. Whenever I happened upon them they would stop talking and look at me as if I was intruding. So I was really very uncomfortable on the set and would go to my corner, so to speak.. Shyness never leads to good outcomes. He and I would step into the scene and do it, then leave. It wasn't that odd for me since that was about the norm for all the different shows I did. The regulars vs the guest stars...The regulars often, not just with me, had their own lives onset which didn't involve these constantly rotating guest stars. I know that Jim said he HATED me. The writer of the Virginian book, Paul Green, told me. I actually don't know why he had such a strong feeling. I didn't dislike him at all. I just avoided him and was very uncomfortable with him.. Not too much time later, I married, and my husband was friends with Jim, so we started socializing. There was never any mention of the strained relationship from the show. We enjoyed each other very much under the different circumstances and that's how it remained. We spoke to him last about a year ago.. So the double whammy of his relationship with Mariette, plus my extreme insecurity and avoidance of him are the cause. That's it. Too bad. If I could do it again today, that strain would never happen. I finally completely got over my shyness, thank heavens. And this episode was his favorite of all the episodes over nine years. So I know that he was very happy with the result.

I just started watching The Virginian this month on the INSP channel only because it comes on so much along with Gunsmoke which I loved madly like Bonanza. I also loved The Big Valley, High Chapparal,The Lone Ranger & The Rifleman All from years back . I never watched The Virginian because it was longer than an hour. Wow did I miss out. The first episode I saw I couldn't get over how James Drury came off as such a strong but soft spoken character. Not to mention he was absolutely drop dead handsome. When he talks it's enough to make you cry he's just so good in the role. I love classic tv. I love that I did finally watch the show. I was already a fan of Lee J Cobb, John McIntyre, his wife Jeanette Nolan, Doug McClure,Charles Bickford , Ross Eliott & Tim Matheson from their extensive film & tv credits. I wrote this because the video here is heartbreaking but beautiful.I thank the person that uploaded it. I envy the fans that have known the show from years back.It now goes to the top of my favorite Westerns list. When I saw the title of the episode it reminded me of a similar episode from Gunsmoke when blacksmith Newly met fell in love with & married a woman that stole his heart completely only to find out she has leukemia & only has about a month to live. "Spring" was in that title
