This song is obviously about how America influences the world through culture as well as through war. Btw The phrase: “Vor Paris steht Micky Mouse” (in front of Paris stands Micky Mouse) refers to the European version of Disneyland which is situated near Paris. The last scene refers to the conspiracy theory that the moon landing was a hoax.
@@marcbaur677 its the use of "soft power" also. It is not particular bad or good, but a song to make aware that we are influenced by it day and night. Movies, series, music and all products influence our daily life and as a german we all had a very positiv view (majority)of the US(nowadays our youth falls for corean influence). After the wars in iraq and afghanistan many were worried, because the warmongering seemed so unreasonable and cruel, that the positiv feeling get many cracks. It was just obvious the US decide pretty harsh how things have to work and everyone has to obey or they get really angry. With russia and china they still seem like the lesser evil, but eruopeans got very careful now about how much we want to be "protected" and "influenced".
@@nikolah.8472what you said! ..me personal m fed up with, especially, californian idiology,.. i m german, and i cant forgive what hollywood done to my american icons (fictional or real)the last decade..peace out
It is important to understand that the US' influence all over the world doesn't come so much from the US being more "influential" or rather "inspirational" than other cultures but that those riches and that influence comes from actually profitizing and benefiting off all other countries all over the world. The same way Europe influenced or rather birthed the US after getting fat and rich over exploiting other cultures, colonization, theft and slavery. I just want to make sure people realize this influence didn't come out of a vacuum and it doesn't mean US culture is inherently superior or more interesting than the others. That's more akin to vampirism than inspiration.
It's so sweet for me to watch someone discover "Rammstein" who I've been a loyal fan of for almost 25 years 🙃 keep it up, we'll thank you, and you and your channel will grow from it, Rammstein fans are special and there are a lot of us that you make happy 😇 happy holidays to you and your loved ones Greetings from Germany
and rammstein's "Mein Herz Brennt" (My heart burns) piano version is his masterpiece, as every rammstein fan will surely agree ✌✌✌ Guaranteed to give you goosebumps. what a voice in this song. Read the lyrics first then look at the video 😊😊😊
Greetings from Germany, I became aware of your channel through your Rammstein Reaction videos. I think it's good that you address the topics in an unbiased way. In my opinion, Rammstein is a music band that manages to address socially critical issues around the world like no other and to package the whole thing in great music and great videos. I've only been into Rammstein's music for about two years and now I understand more and more from title to title and song lyric to song lyric. Next year I will be going to a Rammstein concert in Austria for the first time. I'm already really excited.
As a German that understands every single word Till is singing, I am deeply impressed how you analyze and interpretate the song without understanding the lyrics...! Really, really impressive. Big thumb 👍🏼
For future Rammstein reactions, I highly recommend to turn on subtitles. Most of the time, the lyrics are very important and add a lot to the meaning of what they want to show us with the video. Some channels on RU-vid uploaded Rammstein videos with English subtitles. But even in the original videos, in the settings you can turn on automatically translated subtitiles. They may not be perfect, but they really do help. "Angst", "Zeit", "Zick Zack", "Sonne" and "Adieu" should definitely be added to your list!!! ;)
Till has a solo career outside Rammstein where he sings a few songs in English. His solo stuff can be a bit more graphic but I think you'd really enjoy it. As much as rammstein is out there and pushing the boundaries, Till on his own goes so far beyond the boundaries of what society deems ok that he can't even see them anymore 🙊😆
I've listened to Rammstein for years, have been stationed as Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and fell in love with Germans and their rich culture while there. The choice to use the space program was rather humorous to me especially when we all remember Operation Paperclip bringing Germans back to the US to be placed in different science projects. Werner Von Braun was one such German, and he was instrumental in the Saturn 5 program and getting astronauts to the Moon in the first place. So, in this particular reference, it was Germans who were in Amerika. It's such a fascinating period of time for both our nations. The TV used as such an important symbol is very telling, given that when Germany was a significant influence in the Western World, they invented a handy little thing called the Printing Press. They made mass producing books possible, and the spread of knowledge all the easier. Ultimately, we can all enjoy their music and their intentional use of English in the song in order to make a point to Americans. Till speaks perfect English.
I dig Rammstein. I saw them at the Palladium in Hollywood/Los Angeles the late 1990s. Till performed the first song in a special anti-heat suit while he was literally ON FIRE. Unforgettable. Thank the gods for David Lynch and Trent Reznor putting them on the soundtrack to the movie 'Lost Highway' (1997) -- that was my first exposure to the band's music. Besides having the superhuman endurance to do stunts like the fire-suit at every live show, they are incredibly talented musicians and songwriters.
@@StaceyRPGReacts gosh, you are the best reactionist on youtube, you really dig into clips, not just blabbing 'oh that was fun cool subscribe yada yada yada'. That's great that you can see the message. I did not pay attention to the round dance innuendo, you've nailed it
Just want to say, you have the BEST playlist on RU-vid! Well organized. Your Rammstein - Sonne showed up on my RU-vid and before watching that, I wanted to see your "First Impression" on Rammstein first and due to your playlist being so organized, I found this video within seconds! Amazing! Now, to watch this video!
For better understanding: The song came out while President Bush Jr. was starting the Second Iraq War and was looking for allies in Europe for this "operation".
The first time Till sings in English is in the song “Stripped” in 1998. But Rammstein sounds exactly in native German! I personally heard Till’s voice at a concert where he sang in French and russian. But in my opinion, only German should be heard in the Rammstein format. The most ardent fan of America is Richard Kruspe (guitarist), by the way he lives in New York. Is it really you at the end of the video?? ))
I'm from Germany and had never been to a Rammstein concert...until a friend took me there. I was incredibly excited. It takes a while to get through all the texts. I like your channel a lot, all the best to you!
When he says…”This is not a love song, I don’t speak my mothers tongue.”….as an American…I see that, and its so true…when friends go to Europe or if we go, its my families goal to learn the language, not force them to speak English…its not right that we force them to speak English, and then when they come here to America, we get upset when they cant speak our language…German is an AMAZING language and Ive learned it from listening to Rammstein….Ive learned Japanese and Italian, and Spanish.
to be fair as a german im glad we speak english as our second language. Of all the languages i think english is really easy to learn, specially for germans its really chill, because the grammar is so simple. German would never be a world dominating language, much to complicated for the masses and i have to admit sometimes weird logic. French is a beautiful language too, but much harder to learn. Mandarin would be terrible so its not the end of the world to have one language that all can speak without much trouble.
I like your reaction to this video, you are a very smart woman and you understood the message from this video at the first attempt. I am a big fan of Rammstein band. before I watched your video, I watched a reaction video by black pegasus and he didn't got it right away keep on dooing a good work love ya....
'Amerika' was Rammstein's commentary in '04 after the W. Bush/ Cheney administration declared war and the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 under the pretense of seizing "weapons of mass destruction" (which never existed) as a pretext to topple the Saddam regime and seize control of the oil-rich Persian Gulf. Til Lindemann (vocals) said it was a plea for Americans to consider how much influence and power the USA has globally in terms of culture and products... and those in power have to realize that poor decisions to go to war and invade foreign countries, accusing them of 'terrorism' without any proof, will have the same kind of negative ripple effect worldwide. America is capable of great things... but they also have potential to cause irreparable harm. The Vietnam war was proof of that and the 2003 Gulf War was another colossal f+++ up which half the US opposed vehemently.
There is an other Rammstein song where Till sings in English. If you think of an other English word for cat you have the title of the song and what it is about.😅😅😅
@@lycansotvier4327 One thing is the words that were sung in English but the German sentences were just as naughty if not worse. Rammstein loves to shock and provoke.😂😂😂
Rammstein is the best live show I have ever seen in my life. I've been to many concerts but the performance Rammstein puts in with all the explosions and pyro and flamethrowers is next level shit. I highly recommend if they come back to America again
With Rammstein, music videos an lives are always two different experiences. I would recommand for a beginning MV: Mein Herz Brennt (piano version) Ohne dich Zeit Adieu Angst Sonne ... Live: Any title from Paris or Madison Square Garden Enjoy
Really nice react and a great review. :) If you're looking for more Rammstein songs, I can recommend the following (in order): - Rammstein - Engel (Live in America) [CC] - Rammstein - Ich Tu Dir Weh (Live in America) [CC] - Rammstein - Benzin (Live in America) [CC] - Rammstein - Rammlied (Live in America) [CC] - Rammstein - Waidmanns Heil (Live in America) [CC] I would recommend all of these from the "Bucksttabu" channel because they have CC. These are all live recordings from Madison Square Garden, from their 2010 American tour. Another German band I can recommend to you is "Electric Callboy". Especially the songs "We Got The Moves", "Hypa Hypa", "Everytime We Touch" and "Pump It". You won't have any copyright problems with this band either (which is not unimportant for you :) ). On the contrary, Electric Callboy occasionally respond to reacts to their music videos themselves. :)
If you enjoy the style of Till's vocal style with Rammstein.. it would be nice if you check out Seeman, Du Riechst so Gut, Zeit. Otherwise, Till has some other solo/side projects, I.e. ich hasse kinder, sport frei, Le Jardin Des Larmes (with Zaz). Look forward to more Rammstein reactions 👍🏼
Hi Stacey. I like your reactions to the best band on the planet of its genre RAMMSTEIN. It is not necessary to have large guitar solos or drums for its sound to be brutal. Their concerts are another level. I would like to recommend you to react to Main teil, Mann gegen mann, kaike lust, official video. Actually they are all very good, but to start with those are good. The Hallelujah great theme song would also be good. Another recommended band is Rage against the machine. Greetings.
One thing that might have slipped through: The last scenes show the movie set, with the moon landing scenery and everything else... One stereotype about the US is that their citizens easily believe in absurd conspiracy theories. Like that very popular one that the moon landing never happened and was faked in a film studio. This is also especially interesting when you think of the Trump period, where every fact could easily be declared "fake news" or in existent by the president from one day to another... So yeah, reading a full translation of the lyrics also is a good idea. But of course you got the essence of the song. "... and in front of Paris there is Mickey Mouse ..." refers to Disneyworld Paris. Which is kind of symbolic for America's idea of superiority of culture. As if you could make a city like Paris better, if you place a Disneyworld there. Pretty absurd and narcissistic from a European perspective. ;-) I really liked your reaction. It is not that funny, if it is your country, that is criticized, of course. I could feel that slight moment of shame. So yeah, that's what it is about, obviously. Don't mind. We Europeans might have diverse opinions about the US, but that does not mean, that we do not get that there is a huge part of the population that is overly patriotic, but also a huge part that essentially hates how things are run in its country. So, best regards from Germany and have a great weekend, Stacey!
Hi Stacey, you are so great. I love your channel and the reactions. I hope you give a reaction to the Song "Zeit", "time" in english. This Song is the most powerfull emotional that i ever heard. There are very poetic words in this song. But you must have subtitle to the video its better for understanding, the language is very difficult. Best greetings from germany (sorry for my special english)
Very perfectly grab all in that video! Great reaction! Please consider doing one of these three - I think you'll be good at these: Mein Teil (live from 2013 - be sure to read the background story beforehand. - with subtitles) Engel (live from Madison Square Garden - with subtitles) Ramlied (live from Madison Square Garden)
There are two meanings hidden even for most Germans. * "Amerika" is actually a village in Saxony in East Germany, founded in 1787. Since Rammstein has its roots in East Germany, they could honestly say, they could as well live in Amerika. * Rammstein posing as native Americans has also a long tradition in Germany, even more so in East Germany where a lot of people up to today identify with the native tribes and cherish their (idealized, of course) culture. So when they pose as native Americans, this is how they would like the USA to be.
I mean they have the Song Deutschland about Germany, the song Moskau about Russia and the song Amerika about the United States. Each of these songs are showing some criticism of governments but rarely people (maybe except of in the german one which si way more personal and therefore giving a critique towards the people and the government). I think this song is like the song Californication of the red hot chili peppers by the meaning in some way. Its not necessary about not being abel to escape the culture but more not being abel to escape the influence politically. America does something somewhere and it affects billions of people. Till sings in english sometimes. They have a song called P***y which is one of the fans favourites at the live shows. There are videos available on certain 18+ sides for the uncensored version which is straight up the whole band doing p*rn and there are censored versions. And there are some others. Till sings English in his solo project a lot called "Lindemann"
Pussy is also a really funny and good song from them. But watch the live performance. Or „ich ruh dir weh“ „Sonne“ and so on. Rammstein is just a really deep rabbit hole to check out. So many great songs
The song is taking the piss out of America and Americans, that is why Till say's this is not a love song. As a Patriotic British Man I am not a fan of the American influence on the United Kingdom as I imagine that citizens of other countries are against it and want to keep there own traditions and identity and not become Americanised. 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🏴💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Lindemann has a solo album in English - 'Skills in pills'... He did that in collaboration w/ reknown Swedish producer/ songwriter Peter Tagtgren (of the band Hypocrisy)
hello young lady from amerika i also looked at ramstein the song is very good yes you re right it was more english than german but the song song is about amerika and that s way is more english than german because of american culture i suppose by the way im german too but my favorite group is an american rock band boston especially 2 songs the first song what s you name number 2 is i need you löve i löve this boths songs is in my opnion very nice and good my suggestion is to you to include these songs in your video show or listen to the rock band boston and then decide sorry for my bad english unfortzunately my english is not so good i hope you have a löittle underständing with me thank you for the great music video show keep it up young lady
Hey Stacey. Saw all your Rammstein videos in a afternoon! Amazing job, love all your reactions and yout Final Thoughts. I know you already Reacted to "Du Hast" but i wanna ask you to react again but to the Original Video ( not the concert one ) to know the really meaning of the Du Hast
In fact this song is about overinfluencing, how amerika's influence over anything and anyone is to big with all consequences coming from it. Hellas more bad than good due to the overinfluencing and that's not because it's america, it could happen everywhere but america has this certain status and this evolves from it almost automaticaly! Rammstein found this inspiring enuogh to make a song of it and many chauvinistic americans didn't like it for that! It's also a little "making a fool of" of what america stands for. Rammstein never get's out of the way to confront people with extreme things like politics, war, sexuality, human state, etc. and I myself like that, once in a while slapping people in the face with something like that isn't bad, it's even necessary! Some years ago they were dismissed everywhere due to the nature of their songs, nowadays it's more tolerated because even tho their lyrics are most of the time at the edge of offensive, they're mostly right! But the truth isn't always loved, isn't it? Well I do (and you do as well, at least I think...), just as many more people...! Stacey, keep up the good works, I love you're reactions. Greetings from Belgium (a bordercountry with Germany, maybe that explains something...😉😆!)...
Hi Stacey.. loving your channel, watching you find new bands & music. I would recommend a band called the Warning..3 sisters from Monterrey Mexico. I suggest you watch "EVOLVE"& "MORE" from this years MTV music awards.
All you need to know about this song basicly is "This is not a love song" and put the rest of the video / lyrics into context to this. Then you know what this song is about.
I think you didn't know that Coca-Cola created the Red-White dressed Santa? Thats because he sings "Coca-Cola wunderbar" when Santa was shown with the kid in Africa.
btw: not sure if you have done a video about "Feuer frei" ... in the move TripleX with Vin Diesel they perform also live on stage and that was already in 2002 - so you see they are also known in the USA for quiet a long time ;-)
Haha, catchy song and I really like it. Nor will I apologize for who we are as American. We would all do well to remember that Germany was so insane, they waged war with the entire world, not once but twice. That's not us Till.
Don’t be that last person to react to Peter Gabriel In Your Eyes but be sure to do the one from The Secret World Tour. Trust me it’s a magical experience.
All of Rammstein's videos are great, but also check out the live shows. Their shows are the best ever! no other band can compete with this (in my opinion). I can especially recommend "Ich tu dir weh", which took place at MSG, New York.
Mein Teil, Mein Land, Sonne, Ich tu Dir Weh, Feuer Frei, Rosenrot, and just so many more for you to check out and that are so interesting (among other things).
We are all living everywhere. (German headphones, IKEA desk, Korean monitor, Taiwanese computer, Japanese car, Chinese food, Vietnamese clothing, etc...)
At minute 3:02 the old man prays towards Mecca as Muslims usually do. At 3:05, his prayer rug is aligned with the oil production facility. Their videos are so often full of hidden clues.
Don't know where you're from but if you ever get the chance to see them live please consider doing it. You will be blown away and they will ruin any other live performances for you. 😂
Pet cemetary and Stripped are two covers that Til sings in English... There is a all Englush version of Du Hast, which people interupt as a 'love song' RADIO ^ ZEIT Auslander, Du Riechst so gut ( 98 ver( Are awesome videos as well check ya later... eh
Translation of the German lyrics: When there’s dancing I want to lead even if you’re whirling around alone Let yourselves be controlled a little I’ll show you how it really goes We’re making a nice round dance Freedom is playing on all violins Music is coming out of the White House and Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris I know moves that are very useful and I will protect you from missteps And whoever doesn’t want to dance at the end doesn’t know yet that they must We’re making a nice round dance I will show you the way Santa Claus is coming to Africa and Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris
Nice reaction , Girl :) You need to check their live performances. Check the live concerts from Paris and the Stater, Madison Square Garden. The worth it Greetings from Bulgaria
I love how they pokes at the United States so sarcastically. We deserve the black eye since we got our fingers in everyone else's pies worldwide. Yes we are the bad guys. Always have been. "Rammstein needles Amerika" We deserved it. And it leaves us what is suggested as the faking on the Moon landing. But he winked. Fun stuff.
The "this is not a lovesong"-thing is also a quite literal musical quote, referring to Public Image Ltd most popular song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Az_GCJnXAI0.html , a little reminder of the origins of Rammstein.
If you want to do more Rammstein videos, i strongly recommend always using ones with good caption, because those lyrics really matter a lot. There is a RU-vidr calld educated marine who does very good translations. Good ones to proceed might be "Angst" which is not quite as open to interpretion as many others and has a clear way in which the colours are used. "Zeit" is an audiovisual masterpiece and just pure art. Look out for visual puns like figures of speech being visualized or tiny hints towards other songs and videos.
If you like to hear a great and see a somewhat disturbing music video with Till Lindemann, then you should react to his band Lindemann and the song Praise abort. And he sings in English too, the whole album, Skills in Pills. It's so good hehe. If you do, the piano guy is Peter Tägtgren, he is also a famous musician in the metal world, from the band Hypocrisy and Pain. Cheers from Sweden
Hi Stacey, love your channel and your reactions. I would love for you to react to a band called Pink Floyd. A huge rabbit hole. If you want, you can start with “Comfortably Numb” from their Pulse tour live in 1994. 🙏🏻
