ACT Against Hate Alliance was established for the purpose of identifying solutions to stop the rise of hate crimes in California and across the United States, with these crimes threatening the very essence of Democracy and unity of all who call this country their home. In a monthly Media Forum, AAHA has brought together experts from different sectors to focus on solutions. The April 19 program will highlight the essential role of religious leadership in helping to address causes and identify solutions for hate crimes. Religious leaders can reach out to their audience and use their influence to bring people from all walks of life together to share experiences and to see their commonalities rather than only their differences. Religious leaders coming together in an open and honest dialogue across communities is an important beginning.
Senator Bob Huff and Mei Mei Ho Huff have devoted their careers to public service and building community programs. They have both identified the issue of rising hate crimes as the most important issue confronting our society today because of its reverberating impact across the entire country and beyond. “We must come together, as we have done on so many pressing issues, and work to stop this devastation. No one is left unscathed when hate crimes take place, and we all have the responsibility to act. This month, the voice of leaders from multiple religions will help illuminate the issues as they lend their expertise to finding solutions.”
