Every time I listen to this, the more I wish Rachael and Adam would record this version professionally for the public to purchase. This is probably the best rendition of this song that I have ever heard. Great job to both of them.
What a lady and gentleman ! both admiring each others talent and this is what is so beautiful not to mention this very very touching and emotional performance. Well done to you both ! When you reached those high notes I got the chills of pure enjoyment .Thanks Rachael and Adam ..I listen to this often as its puts me in a splendid mood . ·
+MrTechrics....Thank you for your information have not been here for awhile..... sorry for delay.... yes I looked up Adam Hoek a few minutes ago as you suggested......... Thanks so much
That was the tough thing with this show. I love Rachael but this guy is also fantastic. It’s really tough to decide which is better. A lot of these “battles” I was rooting for both haha
I usually comeback here and watch this when times are a bit sketchy in my life. This puts everything back in percepective and makes me realize just how lucky i am and just how beautifull life is with music around us. God bless !!
Wow!I think this is the best duet I've ever heard & I would like to consider this not a battle...if I'm a judge both of them are qualified to the next round...they sang so beautiful & I can feel deeply inside in my heart...thanks for posting this beautiful duet...awesome!
I think she did better but his voice is still very beautiful. I know they have to make the show exciting but it’s a shame to see such talented people sent home.
Peter Urand I agree - They are both great. It's the Eva Cassidy arrangement that almost all singers have been using for the last 10+ years. Check out Over The Rainbow Live at Blues Alley. I think you will be equally impressed.
This is so beautiful. i got tears, just the way they both act as eachoth sings.. wow.. its great to see it actually sung together and not against eachother. just beautiful.
so beautiful they both shouldve stayed! i never understood that part of the voice. Pit to incredible singers against each other in order to decrease the competition but let the not so great ones slip through by chance. This was a power duet.
Walked in the door just as this duet was starting on TV and... WOW. I was not expecting such heartfelt beauty from yet another TV singing competition. Superb rendition, Rachael & Adam.
Actually, when I first heard them sing I thought Adam sang badly. Now watching it I realize that he sings it with a "haunting" voice which I now like. I believe he lost some of his dynamics by singing as a duet to compliment the song NOT make it his own.
Paul Diamond same, I was a fan of RACHEL but hearing and watching this he actually took risk where she played more safe imo. Adam should have not been kicked out but unfortunately those were the rules and the favor was to the blind girl as the crowd favorite.
Adam if you read this please put a full version on youtube..its uniquely mesmerising and i would put it on loop all night to fall asleep to and dream of. Youre an amazing talent please dont give up ever 🎉
Does anybody else know that Rachel is blind? All the comments are "Adam should have won" well give this girl some fucking credit. She couldn't have read the lyrics even if she wanted to. She did an outstanding job and is so very talented. She is truly an inspiration to young singers.
The good thing about the voice compared to the X Factor and other programs is the fact that you don't have a background on the singer. Most people don't know anything about the lives of the singers they listen to so it doesn't affect how their music is interpreted at all. The fact that Rachel is blind doesn't mean she should have won that doesn't make any sense it's a competition based show. I agree she was good but I don't think your reasoning is right.
I couldn't remember if Rachael was the contestant who was blind, I just remember her name was very familiar, (I didn't really watch The Voice so her name is all I had to go by)
Calling the performance such as this one "beautiful" surely is an understatement. This is stellar!!! I've been listening for almost a hundred times already. Pitch perfect.
To be perfectly honest, neither of them have spectacular voices, like Karice Edens, whose voice is simply amazing; range, emotion, etc. However, with Rachael, we have to consider that she is singing about things, life in 'la vie en rose' and 'bluebirds, rainbows', etc…that she has to imagine, is forced to imagine in order to emote. This makes it difficult to be critical of her. Also, she seems so sweet and delicate that she seems that she would break if criticized. Adam, here in this performance, I am sorry to say, left me cringing. This song is a standard and there are only a few things one could do to change it up as it was perfectly sung in 1939 by Garland and everyone who now sings it, is compared to her, which is why Liza never sings it, as she has said many times. I do realize that singing duet with one who cannot see, must be difficult and nerve wracking because he had to watch her at all times to make sure they remained together and see, himself, when to come in and sing and not do so terribly well, that he seems a bully outshining a sweet, young, blond girl, who cannot see, per chance. She, though, I must say, sang the song very well and it's always emotional listening to her, because of her lack of sight. He, however, with the head notes and the trills and such, ruined his part of the duet. I feel it was awful, his part. One looks at her and thinks, 'oh man' then one looks at him and hears him and thinks…"oh, dear.' I can see why she didn't win as she needs lots of learning and when I heard her duet with Delta, in 'The Prayer'..she changed octaves, going lower, and it did not help her in any way. It, indeed, I feel, rather made listening to her, uncomfortable. Problem always comes back to, however, that in criticizing her, I sound like a bully, which I am not. Believe me, please!?! Am glad she did the show as it shows she has chutzpah and hope whereas Adam has dreams based in non-realitiy, and, for me, a voice not worth a damn and made worse by his choices. I really don't mean to sound insensitive but I think that a person with a handicap might feel offended if one used their handicap to cover up flaws, solely so one does not feel guilty. So, many ight disagree with me, but neither deserved to won but whereas she could have carried the song, alone, his contribution ruined the song. Head noted are hard and very few can do them successfully. He is not one of them. I am sorry if I sound insensitive. Was not my purpose. Adam, learn a skill. Rachael…keep working at it. Simply said. Peace, y'all! Now I feel guilty. I lose either way, whether I tell the truth or rather, my truth, or cover up because she is blind. So, this is my truth as how I saw them sing this song. Sorry for those who disagree. Peace!
Rachael has "kept working at it" with two successful albums and is working on another two albums which will be released together in the near future. I'm guessing one may be in English and the other in French or Italian, or perhaps a mix of both. Apparently Adam has a successful singing career back in Holland.
Sarmadasco, its clearly something wrong with your ears and perception. Cause both of their voices are special, and she, she is producing such pain trough her singing i can see it in colors. This performance has such gentlenes, and power at the same time its beyond belief. It should be a battle, the judges even inspire that, but these two, sing like world class duet. So, yeah every voice is not for every ear, but beyond that, what have u achieved in the world of music to share such mindblowing criticism?
Amigo X You misunderstand. I think she has a good voice, but it is very different than the standard singer who sings, 'standards.' I cried at her performance, more for the symbolism within it than the actual voice, but it did reach me. It is not a criticism, but an opinion, my own. One need not be a cow to appreciate milk. Now, my question to you, why the hostility and bitterness and anger over a couple of lines about a young lady, mostly, we don't even know? BTW, in another comment about her, I go on to say how amazing it is, indeed more amazing….that she is blind and still able to sing a song about seeing the world in colors and rainbows, etc. I did cry at her performance. Believe me, please, when I tell you that I am not some cold hearted creep who goes around criticizing people and as I am a 'nobody'….well, then it shouldn't make a difference, should it?
what r u talking about this song is not having the most spectacular voice! what makes it great though the way they sang it and moved a lot of people--there is something about the 2---that makes them great! its just so beautiful
sarmadasco I admit i did misundertood, and than i simply wondered, how can someone not like this, and i respect diversity and different tastes, but these two touched my very soul, so i came out defending them all guns blazing :) didnt mean to hurt or attack you. It was a very spontaneous reaction, i usually dont even coment. So my apollogies if i unintentionally crossed any lines.
I don;t know if I would say she is awesome….but I would say that he is, indeed, complete shite. Ruining a song that the entire world knows and is a standard. But his trills and head notes made it pure rubbish. She is sweet and her singing the song about images she has never really seen, makes it very emotional for us, the audience. She knows how to work it, though, as she had to know singing 'La Vie En Rose' given she is blind, would bring the audience to her. She does the same with almost every song. I do wish, though I cannot find it, the reactions of the judges when she reveals she is blind. I really would have liked to see that,
Here's a link where you can see Rachael's full audition (La Vie En Rose) including the judges' reactions: www.dailymotion.com/video/xq94c8_the-voice-australia-rachael-leahcar-sings-la-vie-en-rose_shortfilms
I think they both sang beautifully. Both their voices gave me goose-bumps. Their voices are different but they complemented one another perfectly. An interesting rendition of an old classic. Kudos to both artists and may they both meet success in their futures..
Both Rachael and Adam deserve all the accolades they get..they have the gift of golden voices and the love of music...they both deserve the accolades of music worldwhide...God bless them both
