My very first thought - before ANYTHING else, when the news dropped that the Knicks whiffed again was "Monday's Voice of REason is going too be EPIC". I was not disappointed, and you are not wrong on any count.
If you're a Knicks fan and u dislike this you're part of the problem. Only thing he said that wasn't truthful is us going to Brooklyn. That'll never happen, we just won't go to the Garden either.
Im a big Knicks fan and i agree with Rich 1000%. this is the punch in the face that the Knicks and the Garden needed. Being a NYer and growing up in Brooklyn, i saw see MANY things go to the Barclay from concerts and shows. only thing keeping the Garden open is Billy Joel. Been saying for years Dolan don't care because the fake fans(to pricey for real fans) keep going and they sale out the Garden so why put a winning team out there.
What was telling at this point in time was that although the Knicks probably avoided a cluster by not getting those dudes in hindsight but the bigger thing wasn’t that they chose the nets. To me it was that they didn’t even have a meeting to take a pitch from the Knicks. It’s one thing to choose the other team in town but it’s another level when you won’t even sit down with the one that’s always been the team of the city. The fact that the Knicks aren’t ever a destination for a major superstar when they should be seen like the lakers are as the historical franchise in the huge media market to the extent that superstars don’t even take meetings to let the team give them a pitch says a lot about just how far the stature of the team has fallen under Dolans reign. And while they don’t ever land the big names later on they don’t even draft to compensate. There was some stat out there that the Knicks hadn’t signed a draft pick to an extension in over 20 years at one point which is absurd. You can’t get stars to take a meeting and the people you draft basically never get extended to stay on your team. And the boon is that the real estate and brand value despite everything allows the team that has been abhorrent and a place players avoid for decades now continue growing in value and remain the second highest valued franchise in the league. And that’s the sad thing for fans of that team is that Dolan has been able to do the worst job possible as the owner and the money rushes in anyways so he never has to change.
Rich is always entertaining when he's talking about the Knicks, but it's interesting to watch this three years later. The Nets have won only 1 playoff series with KD and Kyrie and it looks like the team is about to be blown up. What a huge disappointment for Nets fans - at least the Knicks are still worse!
Rich is right! New York fans should boycott the games or it will never change. I'm not talking about only going to the garden. Stop watching on television as well. Television is where All Pro Sports make their money
Topanga chronic boycott everything with Dolan’s name. Don’t go into MSG for any events. Not just nba games. Don’t go to radio city music hall, don’t watch games on TV. Don’t accept his money at restaurants, as a matter of fact, put big signs outside businesses, Dolan’s money ain’t welcome here.
Merrin Thomas Idky people even love Madison square like that. It’s old and there’s rats everywhere. Barclays is waaaay better. Plus people go to knicks games just to see other teams superstar players like lebron and steph drop 50+ on em. That’s the only appeal
So let me get this straight...us knicks fans are supposed to be upset because one player..kd decided he wanted to play game 5 on one leg and in the process tears his achilles cause of outside noise displaying weakness for giving a damn what others say...and another kyrie who displays no leadership qualities whatsoever and who couldn't even take a loaded Celtics team past the second rd? damn knicks fans oh man we best go and boycott our knicks cause they are actually building the rite way for once.....damn knicks fans..the sky be falling!🙄😑
Soooo the Knicks dodged a bullet by not signing two injury prone guys to long term contracts and people are mad. One of the players, Kevin Durant, will potentially miss the entire year. Does anyone remember Antonio McDyess?
These dudes are hysterical...Kyrie in Brooklyn (without KD next season) is the exact same situation that they just finished criticizing him for last season, which means the Nets are screwed if KD isn't KD in 2020. T
Not sure if James Dolan is the reason for this free agency fiasco. For one, Kyrie Irving (for whatever reason) was hell bent on joining the Nets. No offer from the Knicks would have been good enough. Then, he persuaded KD to follow him. The Knicks not offerring KD a max contract might prove to be genius. He'll be in his thirties coming back a year later after an achilles injury. Who's to say that he won't play significantly worse? And, Kyrie might ruin the Nets' locker room similar to the way he allegedly did in Boston before KD even suits up for his first Nets game.
What I don't get from this rant is... not once did he point out specifically what Dolan did wrong. Even Eisen doesn't know. He seems just like a popular bloke to beat upon amidst tragedy. Entertaining speech, not overly factual.
I'm hardly a die hard Raptors fan. Casual basketball fan, at best. But I can watch: Eisen A. Smith Kellerman All lose their fucking minds about Jimmy Dolan and the Knicks, all day. Every day.
The fact they're the highest valued franchise in the NBA is preposterous! Like Bill Burr said once on his podcast: "the Mecca of what?!" The team is right up there as one of the all-time overrated teams in all of sports! They've been average to mediocre for almost 30 years and are even worse than some small to mid market franchises when acquiring or nurturing elite talent.
Knicks fans, please look at what us Dodger fans did to get rid of Frank McCourt. 2011 sucked but it worked. And the best part is, you can boycott the owner and still go to the game if you really want to. Just don't buy beer or merchandise at the arena. Get drunk at the bar, and buy a jersey online or at Champs. That's how you do it. James Dolan has been allowed to run this team into the ground for too long and it's time it ended.
Seriously, you guys honestly think we should have given a max contract to a 30 year old with a torn Achilles who is going to miss his first year? As much as Dolan sucks hard, we did well for not signing a contract as inane as that.
The Nets are a threat to take a step backward under Kyrie's "leadership" next year and to disappoint if KD comes back at anything short of 100%. Or even if he DOES but Kyrie doesn't see him as legitimate guy to give the ball up to. They threaten to be Westbrook/KD II under those circumstances. Dolan FOR ONCE did not muck it up this off season and they didn't MISS OUT on Kyrie and KD, they NARROWLY ESCAPED them, instead. You'll see.
@@allensaunders449 Nonsense. The Knicks have been chasing after 30+ year old "saviors" coming off of recent injuries for nearly half a century and look at the results! There's NO franchise LESS in need of yet another injured "savior" than that one. Add to that, Kyrie is not only a bubble head and a franchise-killer, but apparently KD's pimp daddy. Kyrie said to Durant: "we're going to Brooklyn, bit*h, not MSG" to which the latter replied: "yes, daddy." Was it some CRAZY move for the K's to stay away from such a situation?! Maybe Kyrie straightens his head out and does NOT murder the Nets, and maybe Durant comes back 100%, and maybe K. Irving permits KD to see the ball once in awhile (genius that he is), but THAT'S a lot of money to bank on that confluence of events and Dolan--while not the smartest guy in the room--clearly eventually learned to stop throwing good money after bad on long shots. His daddy was rich, after all (though I have no idea if his mama was good looking).
@@dantean The knicks franchise is dead now they need a shot of adrenaline. If i lived anywhere in the 5 boroughs i would ho to nets games now not knicks
@@allensaunders449You want to believe that, but, trust me--IF YOU LIVED HERE--you'd do what everyone's GOING TO DO, which is to NOT go to Staples very often. I mean, once in a while, sure, but read this reply a year from now and I'll BET you won't be getting back to me with some HUGE uptick in Nets attendance figures.
I love how Knicks fans think they are somehow better off. 20 years and only 1 good season. 20 years and the only memorable moments at the Garden was Linsanity. 20 years , worst record in the NBA. Knicks fans trashed the only star they had in Carmelo of course stars aren't clamoring to go there. Knicks fans would've been doing cartwheels down Broadway if KD and Kyrie signed there.
@@LewdConnoisseur Yep and even then it's kind of shocking just how few Yankees caps you see these days. Seeing Islanders jerseys downtown back in April was truly bizarre!
I’m no Dolan fan and I’d like to see him sell the team but not because he didn’t sign Kyrie and KD. Both those guys are injury prone - KD is now in his 30s coming off s devastating achilles injury that few have come back from well and Kyrie is a locker room cancer that has glass knees and is a ball hog. Both will tie up huge $$$$. The Knicks were smart not to sign them!
Lets let this play out first. Not a kyrie fan and theres no guarantee durant will be okn. Personally i want the knicks to die but i actually think they have a decent young squad.
Can fans and other people who hate these products quit going to the games? I love when people madden bash after continuing to buy it. So Rich won't be going can the rest of the knick fans follow suit and leave mr dolan an empty arena? Pry not so nothing will change. I love the NBA but fans need to speak with their wallet, not their smartphone.
There will be Knicks fans who will jump ship to the Nets. Face it, the Knicks have no plan, they're just a collection of individuals that hope they can take a shortcut to success through free agency.
The Knicks have avoided maxing out a guy who will miss all of next season and when he returns will be a shell of his former self. Of course they won’t sign anyone else worth a damn either. The Knicks and the Garden are the most overrated dual entities of all of sport. Only provincial New Yorkers still buy their own hype and self importance. It’s been that way for decades...In the real world Indiana is more important franchise.
I think I speak for every OTHER NBA team and fan to say please shut up already. DOMINATE the sports news with this team's ineptitude...there will be other trades and opportunities, and the rest of us suffer with our teams for years. Especially in the smaller markets that New Yorkers wanna look down on. So, Just....stop it.
This rant is ridiculous. Blaming Dolan for this is just nuts. As a Knick fan, I am also disappointed about free agency but this rant is uncalled for. I will officially stop watching this show because of the nonsense I am hearing.
