Gunny King I've been saying this for the U.K. and US version forever, and the only coaches of both versions that actually do this are Christina Aguilera and now Jennifer Hudson, but I guarantee you that people are going to start calling JHud a spotlight stealer and attention seeker by doing this. Happens to all the females that coach through demonstration. Seeing coaches do this not only teaches the contestants but also some viewers who are singers but can't get to the show. These little 20 second lessons can go a long way for some people. Hopefully Jennifer doesn't stop doing stuff like this. She's been a great addition to the UK version.
Jennifer Hudson is so underrated, she's the modern day Whitney Houston. If she had the the right songwriters and producers she would be just as successful as Adele.
You know what! It's not about how good you sing, it's about how much you get people in their hearts when you sing. I can't deny Jennifer Hudson is a really good singer... but compared to Adele is not fair for them both Adele is out of technique of singing. She always just telling you a story with a melody
I never said there was anything wrong with Adele's singing...and I wasn't comparing them either. Adele is successful because she has a beautiful voice and really amazing songs to go with that voice. I think Jennifer is just as good but never had the right songs imo...😒 I think Jennifer's voice is extremely soulful and moving, same with Whitney Houston. All I was saying is that she should be recognized more and not judging a talent competition, it's a shame really.
Edwin Arthur According to the 24 people who gave my comment a thumbs up, I guess there are a few out there who are on drugs. But to each their own :) It's okay if you disagree with me, however I don't think she is as good as Whitney, but she's the closest thing out there right now in my opinion.
In terms of what? She doesn't poses the silkiness Whitney's voice had, she absolutely does posses the agility, the rich velvet tone Whitney had, the control, the transitional genius Whitney was and most of all the grace and charisma.. What an insult to Whitney's honour.. Jennifer sounds exactly the same in every song.. No diversity in her voice at all.. Monotonous and boring in the long run.. Whitney was a gem, a rare kind
Jennifer Hudson should have been on this show a LONG time ago. She doesn't have the vocabulary, but she's able to give the student examples. What Jennifer is trying to say is, the singer needs more resonance awareness to have a solid and soulful belting voice.
I would have preferred someone to demonstrate rather than speak and say, "You need more resonance awareness." I would have said: What? I think Jennifer did exactly what she was supposed to do. That was an excellent demonstration, and everyone got it.
Wenton Wintrex I gave her credit for giving an example. The pitfall with singing to teach your voice students is they'll begin to imitate your sound. Every voice is as unique as the finger print. "You need more resonance awareness" is naming the problem. It is the diagnosis. Then you give the student tools and vocal exercises to help them achieve it. If JHud leaves it at just singing for her students, they will be left to their own devises to figure out how to imitate the sound. I do this for a living and have two master degrees in vocal pedagogy...
I got that you had either taught voice or had taken voice lessons from your original comment and that you wanted to brag or I mean share your knowledge. However, this is a TV show and people tune in to be entertained and sponsors desire high ratings; not for folk to be bored out of their minds with classroom jargon and flipping the channel. Again, Jennifer did the right thing. There's no wonder why she's on TV and you're in a classroom teaching students. Have a blessed day
So your issue is that I shared knowledge? Sounds like something you need to work on within yourself. Also, it was a teacher that taught you how to read and write. JHUD being on television is the result of teachers sharing knowledge to help mold her into the person she is today. So yes, I'll be in a classroom grooming and educating our leaders of tomorrow while you continue to troll the comment sections on youtube...
The best thing about having great vocalists as coaches is that they can listen and understand exactly what the contestant does with their voice. Christina was the same way, she would demonstrate what she expected and it helped the singers hear what it would sound like, it helped a lot.
+Huy Le, I know right! JHUD's voice just caaarrrriiiieeessss. don't need a mike. Off the hoof, her voice that is. You go JHud, So glad she's back in the USA coaching on this side of the Chanel.
She’s a Dramatic Soprano. People with that voice type and good technique are effortlessly loud and powerful. She doesn’t need a mic to fill the room ;p
I love this new auntie J Hud. She's such a positive influence on these young singers' lives. No wonder they got her on the American Voice. She adds so much to the show.
Jennifer Hudson: What did you feel you need to work with, vocally? I feel like there's a lot for me to learn. JH: Are you alto? 여자애: Yeah. JH: Okay I could tell that already from the song. I was like, I wish you would have picked another key. Now can you take it down just a hair step? Will you get to the "Some people want it all," You want to be able to almost sound like that piano when you hit that tone and not just clip it or barely make it. And you don't ever have to force it up but, "want it all, I don't want nothing at all. If it ain't you baby. If I ain't got you baby. Na na na~" You see what I'm saying? You should probably be staying flat foot and sign. You don't need no piano, you don't need no tone to let you know what key you're in. Sometimes you can feel if you're in the right key. So that's just a little J Hud then Mama sit on back down, sip my tea while you just sigh, okay? ("Some people want it all" 노래 부르면서) 이렇게 부를수 있어? "You should probably be staying flat foot and sign" (???). So who's going to be your coach? Jennifer Hudson! JH: Oh! I went for that. Wait, are you doing TV? You shouldn't even have to think. What is wrong with you child, what if J Hud said "you took too long I don't want to be your coach." Jennifer Hudson. JH: Swing this train, swing that train, pick it up, 'cause we divas.
lolll the musicians are so hyped-up when they come in.. the bassist even throws in a power-lick at 0:42.. As a musician I certainly know how it feels when being led by a powerful singer such as Jennifer..
She is a good coach. Diamond was good, but after Jennifer had turned, she lost the key of the song and she realised that and tried to fix it, but it didn't work. Jennifer did a great job and deserves to be on the show.
I love watching this and I may have said this before. JHUD productions provided old school coaching from the point when her chair turned to the point when that young women stepped down that stage. Our young people (indeed we all could) could use this level of mentoring in all disciplines.
This is a nice moment and I don't even know what happened afterward what team she ended up on if any or how far she made it. It's just good because she didn't just comment and move on she gave VERY constructive criticism and advice and the girl you can tell she is listening and willing and able.
All you guys below me bickering need to knock it off. Jennifer Hudson was awesome by giving advice to her future student. She teaches her way, just like you guys teach vocals a different way
jennifer works her as off. she doesn't just sit there like a log. she can tell a talent exactly where he or she needs work. very inspiring. i feel sorry for her colleagues. they're on the sidewalk while she's in the street.
Jennifer was teaching, here. She was our favorite (loving) teacher. Think about it. Think about that teacher in your life who took the time and explained in a way that made sense to you.
