I really liked the Volkswagen Arteon. It's a great looking car in a compelling form factor, provided you aren't looking for an SUV. Sure it's a little pricey, and there are always long-term reliability questions with any VW, but overall the Arteon gives you a premium car experience inside and out. And it's a hatchback!

I've had my Arteon since 2021. Absolutely love it. I've even got up to 34 MPG on the highway. It's comfortable, roomy, and reliable. No issues. Since VW is killing it in the states in 2024, I'm going to upgrade to a S5 or RS5 after I've had it for a few years. Your Arteon is just gorgeous with that red paint. I have the Metallic black color that doesn't show off those curves as well.

I'd narrowed my next car to the VW Arteon and Acura TLX.. You reviewed both Outstandingly! The 2022 VW Arteon is edging out the TLX after watching your videos. The back hatch and rear legroom are important factors for me. Thank you!

As a first owner of CC since Feb 2015, I will say that yes Arteon too is not meant for the typical American buyer. If you are not into Audi - BMW race because of money or don't want to be a servant of madly expensive brands, like creating your own standards and appreciate premium / stand out vehicles, Arteon is for you. I continue to love our CC 2.0T Exec, gives a smile of satisfaction and pride every day. One bonus with CC and Arteon, you will scarcely see another.

Excited to see the '22 getting the HP bump + DSG which... appx. 5 people will know about. Certainly a if you know, you know kind of vehicle. I'm an ex GTI owner, my father still has his CC marching towards 110K on the odom, I have so many different suggestions for him for when the time comes lol, but my heart comes back to this purely for how unique/rare it is.

I'm looking forward to the 2022 Arteon also. Currently in a 2016 GTI but would like to have something bigger in the near future. AWD would be nice too. The only thing holding me back is the lack of support for custom tuning. MK7/7.5 GTIs are endlessly tunable with Cobb Accessport support. Price will also obviously be a factor. My Autobahn was $30k out the door brand new in 2016 and the new MK8 is over $40k for the same trim. No thanks lol.

Surprised VW would switch to a DSG when most reviewers either have no complaints or actually praise the quick shifts of the conventional 8 spd auto. Not sure most Arteon buyers wouldnt rather have the smoothness of a good conventional auto over a DSG which can shift lightning fast, but can also be a little rough/jerky under some low speed driving conditions.
@pawelzieminski6717
@pawelzieminski6717 2 года назад
@@jbm0866 I read the 7 speed in Arteon uses wet clutches. There is on like this in Audi A7 (probably not identical but same in principle) and reportedly it is very smooth
@evo5dave
@evo5dave 2 года назад
@@jbm0866 I have an Arteon with DSG here in the UK. It's actually pretty smooth. I came from a UK spec Infiniti Q50 with a Merc 7 speed auto and there is absolutely no comparison. No pause, no sluggishness. Only time I have felt any slight jerkiness is the first 100 yards or so when the car is started from cold.
@jbm0866
@jbm0866 2 года назад
@@evo5dave If I were buying an Arteon I'd rather have the DSG versus a conventional torque converter auto, but I'm still surprised VW made the switch since reviewers stated the 8 speed auto was smooth and shifted reasonbly quickly as is. It's not as if anyone buys an Arteon for stoplight drag races or track days after all.

I rented one in France a few months ago. It was an R-Spec 4Motion, fully loaded. When I returned to America I toyed with building an Arteon on the VW site and was shocked to see how de-contented the American top version is. Why does VW continue to dumb down our products? I mean is a HUD really to much for us to enjoy on this thing?

Because if VW include more standard equipment in the US Arteon, the they would have to increase de price, and at that price point US consumers would rather buy an Audi or BMW. As it is now people find it expensive for a VW which is not considered a luxury brand.
@jbm0866
@jbm0866 2 года назад
Near $50k is already too much for most Americans to stomach for a fully loaded anything wearing a VW badge, and sadly that includes the Arteon. We dont see VW as a "premium" brand like Europeans do, (not the same as luxury brand, just a step above lower end makes) and as such they have to deconent the cars sold here to get the msrp at a palatable level. I hear ya though, I used to own a 2016 GTI SE, and Europeans had many options that we can't get even stepping up to an Autobahn trim.

Wow I so much agree with you. There are only 2 cars that really like...Buick regal sportback gs and Arteon. However both of those are dumbed down by owners. A least the Buick had torque vectoring. I pick up my custom built 2022 Arteon tomorrow… I had the 2017 model and got rid when it was parked on my drive endlessly due to C-19. So happy I’m getting it back, and a new edition that looks stunning. Your vid has got my hyped for sure! Only quad exhaust vehicle in existence that not only tries to hide that fact, but make it appear to have the same fake exhaust outlets found on many VW/Audi products these days. Thats literally the only true misstep they made with the exterior though, very well executed.

I just built a similarly optioned Arteon on a European configurator and the pricetag is 65 545 euros (73721 dollars). Mind you that it has a 2.0 TSI with 190 hp and not 268 like in the US and it has a 7 speed DSG and not the 8 speed tiptronic. As well as in the US you get more standard options.

I hear people complaining about the touch control climate, but every option is indented and you learn the correct ones and I never find a problem, I just slide it up or down. I think it might be a learning curve but a majority of people complaining don’t actually have the car/ drove it more than a week

I had an '86 GLI and loved it. Good to see the that ergonomics are still killer, as well as driving feel. With all those rear headrests I would certainly drive with the seat backs down. However I won't touch VW again due to their diesel fraud. It's rare to find a decent sedan these days so it's no wonder they'll sell a lot.

"Atl least when the vehicle is brand new." That line is why this car doesn't resonate in the US sedan market. People want cars they can confidently take at least into tbe 150K range. Love this car but I'm afraid to buy it.

My 190 HP Arteon is powerful enough for German Autobahns. Traffic permitting I can reach up to 145 mph but most of the time 90 mph to 120 mph is generally more realistic. Why you think you need more powerful versions in North America with its speed limits rather confounds me.

I feel like vw/ audi is fading in the US. I skipped the B7 passat because it was made big and floaty to speak to Camry buyers. I went back to Audi only to find that my B6 passat had way more standard features than my C7 A6. My wifes Touareg is miles ahead if the Atlas in every way except MPG. This is very disappointing. Im currently considering a newer car and for the first time since I purchased my first GTI in 95 I may move away from VWAG. The issue I have doing that is what was mentioned in this video. The interior layout in Vw and Audi makes sense and repairs if needed are fairly easy to do.

I just don't feel the same about the Arteon. The grille is honestly really ugly. Not crazy about the rims either.
