@@l0kk016 yeah but a few regulars like Chris her reina aki syd or lady beard or well anyone who wants to come. It’s like they’re not regular cast they’re reoccurring characters
As much as I like Calli, I can't say I agree with that though. If you take it literally then it just means that you should always be improving when it's perfectly fine to just do nothing of value sometimes and just lay back for a bit. Always needing to improve yourself is a surefire way to get a burnout.
@@Dylangillian you just took the second part and analyze it as it is. it just means don't try to be always better than your rivals (or pretty much dont compare yourself against your peers), you just need to become better yourself (your own way). Because if you always try to outdo your peers that is a sure way to burnout. just do better at your own pace
Calli's first appearance was basically how I got into VTubers so this is like a full circle thing I actually commented on like Twitch Clip on one of the clippers videos of Joey and said that they should get Calli back with her new outfit and Calli has done a lot and changed a lot since her last appearance so this is HYPE
This is kinda cool. When the first Cali episode aired, I skipped it. But now I've gotten into V-tubers via Connor and Mouse, so I just went back and watched the episode and it was great. So this is fantastic timing.
16:39 With the revelation that Calli was physically in the studio for this recording, I'd like to imagine she was there in a Filthy Frank style green jumpsuit, and the boys just had to keep a straight face the whole time
she doesn't have to wear green since vtuber rigging software uses facial tracking. as long as the camera feeding that information to the computer isn't blocked, they can just move the rig over her body in post
@@chipmunkm4n No green screen was used. All they did was take a image of the set from the wideshot angle and the angle from where Garnt and Calli would be sitting, edit those images onto the video and then overlay her vtuber model on top of it.
I honestly wanna see Chris Broad and Mori Calliope in one Trash Taste Podcast Episode.... because I wanna see how much Boomer Mentality can Chris Broad reach with the concept of Vtubing
@@rifalya8114 most likely yes they have previously mentioned how small the non Japanese RU-vid/streamer group is and as Joey said he and the boys have basically mett all of them and similarly Chris has aswell.
This was a real surprise treat. Damn Calli's such a champ. And comparing this to the previous episode Calli was in, Connor definitely shows the most change in his knowledge about V-Tubers
Not wanting to be rude, but video essayist are commonly known for being pseudo intellectuals that find deeper meaning of things because they create the second/hidden meaning
@@luizy6701 absolutely true in general but not for schraffilas imo, I wouldn't necessarily classify him a video essayist anyway but he rarely reaches for any deeper meaning and any deeper meaning he does extract is entirely plausible and could've been gathered by anyone. Nothing about him gives off the impression of psuedo-intellectualism.
@2:03:03: Calli is quoting Coco's graduation advice. It's so touching to directly see that Coco is still in everyone's hearts until now. I feel like crying manly tears right now.
@@darkyatom she did for many people, apart from her other channel, her disappearance meant they were probably never going to see her again, so technically she died, but off the face of RU-vid
Even Calli knows of the incoming flex. You can't be friendly with Garnt until he tells you about the time he worked at the BBC. Then friendship acquired.
I'm really not into V-tubers but Mori is one of the most fun and relatable guest that's been on the show. Love to listen to you all talkign, hope mori will come back on sometime!
To every person asking if Calli is actually there or not, let me remind you of the first rule of Trash Taste. Every guest MUST be there in PERSON. No exceptions.
Are they overlaying the avatar over the real person? In my image, real life Calli is not so small to be covered by the avatar. How are they doing this?
Fantastic to see that Calli gets to be the first guest to be featured on the podcast twice! (Chris obviously doesn't count since he's the unofficial fifth boy)
I really appreciate what Calli said about not having a passion. I often feel low because there are certain things I feel like it'd be cool to do, like stream or play music, but I don't have the drive to pursue them. It was surprisingly uplifting to be reassured that it's fine to not have a passion, and just to enjoy your life how you like. Also it's nice to see how much more comfortable and relaxed Calli is now compared to the first episode she came on.
Calli: Everyone has a different idea of what "content" is _[remembers her "Cursed ASMR" stream where she scraped a fork on a plate for almost an hour]_
It'd be really cool if this started to become an annual thing. Just these cool overall updates on perspectives and large talking points these four bring are so great to listen to. They all bounce off each other so perfectly.
Just from watching the beginning of the podcast, it’s so great seeing how Calli has grown as a guest and streamer. I remember when it took her a while to get comfortable last podcast so it’s great to see her far more confident. My dad can’t be this cute. Edit: She herself mentioned her growth, you love to see it.
I noticed this too from having recently watched her last episode. She seems a lot less like she is playing a character and more just like her natural self which is really enjoyable!
Connor without his beard is reminding me again that he's the youngest in the group. 1:09:10 "if you're often not available, people dont invite you to things. If everyone knows that you're not gonna show up to stuff most of the time, people will stop inviting you" -Connor from this weeks episode of trash taste. Damn, he's right I preffer Bone Chicken. Mostly because I'm able to dissect it with a fork and spoon. The meat closer to the bone tastes better.
My solution is just... Show up anyway. Just walk in the door of a place my friends are, and they all assume that someone else invited me. Granted this only works that well because A) they're all too disorganized to realize whats happening, and B) they like me enough that they're okay with my sudden appearance, but still it works!
@@carton5235 I mean, if you're not invited, most of the times, you don't really know where the gathering would be, unless you're in a group conversation, but that's basically an invitation ;')
I think it’s hilarious that Conor thinks 30 years old is “old.” I can’t wait until he hits that point and realizes that it’s pretty similar to your 20s… just more aches and pains and more responsibility depending on your life situation.
When I was in my 20's I was married and miserable. Now in my 30's I've been single and having a blast. I just turned 39 and recently got into anime and visual novels and I've been having the time of my life. I'm 39 going on 13 I guess, lol. I even got a Yui Hirasawa tattoo last year that takes up half my arm, lol. My patients at the hospital work at seem to enjoy it, lol
Trash taste has been such a blessing in my life man, I don't know what I'd do without you guys. Like, none of ya'll are writers, but the struggles that you do go through are something that I can feel. The thing is with the advice the trash taste boys and Mori gives, it's a lot of the same advice you'd get no matter what field you're on. The circumstances are different but they can still apply and add, to whatever you have planned for the future. "Never stop trying new things" was literally what my father told me when we had a heart-to-heart talk, about me being a writer. "Spend your energy wisely" is something I had to learn because even if you're writing, and you'd love to write more, it's not like you can actually do it. And there are times when I can't work and do writing, and times when that's literally all I can do. At the same time, you can also just "Be yourself" when you are writing. And I'm sure it's the same with music and up and coming artists, because I met those people, and our struggles are the same. Sometimes we like to compare our works to other more established creators a little too much, and realize how dumb that is. At the end of the day, we're all vying for an audience to get people to see our works, be it acting or streaming, writing or singing. To anyone who has plans for the future, please don't sleep on their advice or experiences, because they genuinely work and I've made soo much progress in my own writing just because I'm able to listen to the trash taste podcast. And that's the thing, you can learn as much technical knowledge you can of anything, but if you don't actually set your foot down on something that *feels* like "This is something that *I* can do." then you won't get far. It helps to have knowledge of what you should be doing, but you're gonna need more than that, and it does help broaden your perspective on how far people have come in their own creative paths. Not just because they're successful, but because it helps picture just how hard people work to get to where they are, and how lucky they had to be. My writing has to be professional level atm, but if I can't finish a book, or get someone to publish it, AND THEN somehow keep up with the internet, how am I going to get out of this niche bubble as a writer? And that's dumbing things down. But would I still do it? HELL YEAH writing is what I live for man!

Calli is my favorite vtuber and I don't even watch her streams, she's just so intensely self aware and uniquely herself. The fact that she could admit that it takes even a smidge of ego to do what she does is something I don't think half the people making content on this platform would feel comfortable doing. Her headspace is one of the most interesting on RU-vid imo
On the subject of Jump King: if you liked Calli on this podcast, her recent Jump King streams are a bit like this podcast! Just talking about random things with other HoloEn members.
@@zodiark619 its pretty much just IRL calli sitting there and infront of her is her phone capturing her movement for her avatar then when it gets to mudan he edits it out by erasing IRL calli to put her avatar in there so if garnt decide to put his arm up to block calli's face his arm would disappear

He looked at the bros looking for a reciprocal laugh response to the funny thing he just said, but he got none out of it, so he just subconsciously realized that he was the only one thinking that what he said was funny, and looked away to concentrate back on the conversation. It's just a simple, natural and healthy reaction to have when you say something cringe to your friends.
I think she quoted Coco ay 2:02:00, Coco always says that trying new things leads to a lot better experience for yourself and for the viewers. Man that hits me right on the kokoro.
i would post that but i came to comments just to see....yeah that is coco words for the new vtubers (that can be used inside hololive and outside with smaller and indie vtubers)
I understand Calli's fascination with yakuza movies. I remember this one series that I really like about this young kid who wanted to be a normal kid but was actually the son of a yakuza leader and then he got into this weird situation where he had to pretend like he was dating the daughter of a mafia leader. It was really cool!
The first time she came on I recall her being uncomfortable and quite jumpy. Now she gives off very laid back vibes. Looking forward to seeing her again here.
Might've been awkward, because she had to behave as her character while the guys could actually see "her". Some might've also already known her as her previous persona. We'll add that I think she was also a fan of the show and... she wasn't exactly used to streaming.
God, my whole day was made as i saw this. So happy to see her back, they talked about it now and then, how she should come back and talk about all the things that changed. The first episode was a real kickstart back in the days. Then she still started out the episode with this forced cutsy voice. Very interested in see how Calli interacts with the boys now that she got so much more experience and now that so much has changed
I find it funny that she was in impromptu podcasts during her Jump King streams, and now she's in an actual podcast again. But I agree that its really nice to see her back again without the forced character aspects from when she first started.
I was actually just like Connor when I watched their first Trashtaste with Calli on, from then that's when I actually got into Hololive and really enjoy Vtubers now. Great to hear more about Calli's creative process and she seemed pretty comfortable here too
“Red” is honestly one of the best song of 2021 for me. The growth of her music from pre-holo to first 3 singles of holo to most recent is incredible look into a musician having talent and polishing it.
She sounds so much more normal in this podcast compared to her first visit. Funny to see the changes between them. I could hardly sit through 2o minutes of her talking previously.
@@jeppyjep well for context, Yabai translates to meaning Scary, or Dangerous(might be confusing it with Yabe, my Japanese is rocky at best and I'm going mostly by what I see from others when they use It) And IRyS, well- For someone who's Essentially "hope", some of her things don't leave people very hopeful that her words are "good"- Aka, she says some kinda scary things. Does them too, without meaning to alot of the time. It earned her the nickname YabaIRyS, cause it mixes both Yabai and her name- TL;DR It's just mixing a Japanese word for scary with her name.
Im always impressed how Calli commits to her reaper character, Gura sometimes cant remember what animal she is, and i actually kind of prefer that, but u respect the craft when u see it.
Since the first collab with Mori, which made me fall into the rabbit hole, I watched approximately 10.000 clips and 100 streams. So glad to see dad again on the best non-anime podcast.
Talk to me a year ago about tea kettles, gorilla angels, thicc dragons, finger stealing dogs, etc....and I'd look at you like you've escaped an asylum, lol.
Man i just love Calli so much, she's the one who just feels most like a homie. She's a superstar in everything she does, but also feels like a real bro
Fun fact: after speaking about death games series, Calli talks about Battle Without Honor and Humanity, which was directed by Kinji Fukasaku, who then went on and directed none other than the movie adaptation of Battle Royale, the grandfather of live action death games.
Okay but Calli's return in Trash Taste makes me emotional. To be honest, Calli is the most perfect Hololive member to have during a podcast especially on Trash Taste. Glad to see her again!
I think Calli is like the perfect Hololive member to have on the podcast. She’s quite down-to-earth and her interests and personality aligns near perfect with everyone else, with just enough difference to create massive talking points for both her and the boys on subjects that the others may not be as knowledgeable on. The dynamic between all 4 of them is immaculate.
On her first visit, it took her almost half an hour to relax and start to casually banter with the boys. After that she gradually became one of the boys.
@@SassySlayer69 Kiara is very interesting, I’ll give you that. Honestly, all of Hololive is interesting in their own respects, but Calli just kind of has a vibe that fits the podcast really well. If they can, I’d love to see them have other vtubers on the podcast, even outside of Hololive.
Mori's collab with Ironmouse was so sweet. and in a totally unrelated note, if Joey were to do a series on current Japanese bands, it would be so cool if one were, say, totally unrelated
She's grown so much. From someone trying to maintain a false image, to growing her into her career and just being herself. This is what a v-tuber should be in my opinion. Glad to see her back.
@@darune4610 she played a character real hard in the past. Look at the last episode she was on. She always answered in character as if she really was a reaper etc. More like roleplaying than being herself.
@@Jug_or_not Literally every vtuber within Hololive has loosened up since debut; people change. Calli's boomer character is still far more maintained than others, unless you genuinely believe she behaves like that in real life, in which case you're a pretty lost cause.
I remember Calli saying that they should premiere the episode or make it live so, people can do super chats and they'll read it. A year later after her first guesting, and it is now happening(AGAIN, I forgot that they premiered the previous one as well).
Can’t believe she’s coming back. I was just rewatching the first one and she said she’ll definitely come back. Can’t believe she kept her word, well done
It's crazy how the last time Mori was on Trash Taste, I didn't even know who she was or even what v-tubers were And now this time after seeing the title, I'm like : "Oh so Dad's back on Trash Taste" Time does go fast huh...........
"I can only give the same advice a senpai of mine gave me, and that's to never stop trying new things" Tears were shed o7 But as always, another fun episode!!
