Honestly I wish Abraham was still alive, He was such a cool character with an interesting arc story too. I certaily would of enjoyed Abraham going up against Negan or meeting Ezekial and His tiger too.
@@kindnessark8064 I stopped watching after the episode when Abraham died. He was one of my favorite characters. I only just downloaded season 7 and 8 this week to check it out. I didn't want to spend any time watching Rick and everyone eat Negan shit for two seasons. It turned out to be pretty good, but only after the sting of Glenn and Abraham faded for 4 years. I know a lot of people who quit watching after that episode.
Why didn't they slaughter the fuck out of the Saviors? Those people were about to slaughter them.. it's only fair. When that girl surrenders and says "Don't shoot! Please. it's over, we're done." I'd have said, "that's right bitch, you are done" and shot her in the head.
Not really. His conversation with Rosita in the season 8 finale reveals it was a last minute plan brought on by Gabriel's plan to manipulate the bullets so they couldn't kill Rick's group. Eugene admits he got the idea from Gabriel so he didn't plan to sabotage the saviors at first. And his comment about wanting to do something with his pathetic life (quoting Rosita when they kidnapped him) all suggests it was a last minute plan.
@@madisonestes6124 Maybe he thought Rick's side would win anyway, since he prioritizes his own survival he didn't want to be punished or killed by Rick's army
@@shannoncurry2037 Exactly. You and Madison are both right. Eugene is a selfish coward, but you see him take a few risks to help his friends on several occasions: the bullet with Rosita, helping Sasha kill herself, helping the doctor escape, not ratting out Dwight's double cross, etc. He could have been beaten or even killed for some of the stuff he did. Granted he could have been killed for a lot of the treachery he did against Rick's group also. He is a fascinating character even if his stupid speech pattern does get annoying after awhile.
Certain death? Lol, those idiots there were about to shoot targets that were almost a mile away with assault rifles. Even with normal bullets, they would either not even get to their target, or slow down pretty significantly.
rogelio ramirez Negan trusted Eugene when he made the bullet for Rosita. Then Eugene earned Negan’s trust throughout the duration he was with The Saviors, sort of like what he did with Abraham and his group by showing how smart he was.
Are you trying to tell me they didn't fire a single shot on the way there? All those people, and not one of them needed to shoot a single zambie? No, this was just a stupid moment.
This is easily one of the best character arcs on the show. The writers had me 100% convinced that Eugene was a fucking weasel. I was done with him. Then in a hail of sabotaged bullets he rose from the fucking dead and became one of my favorite characters of all time. Eugene IS a certified badass.
@@JonCombo shrapnel is extremely dangerous, he basically gave them glorified grenades in the shape of a gun. Even regular bullets that backfire accidentaly could mess the hell out of your hand
@@JonComboIf you want to know what would happen if a gun explodes next to your face, watch the Kentucky Ballistics accident. He probably would have died if he didn’t have medical help right away.
Negan lost the moment he killed Abraham - Rosita makes Eugene make her a bullet to get revenge - Rosita Shoots at Negan, but fails - Negan finds out Eugene made the bullet and takes him in - Eugene tampers with the bullets in the final battle, causing Negan’s rule to end
Some criticizing this moment but Eugene DID give a rounds test to Negan and it was unlikely anyone of them would have tested the guns by shooting at a walker as they all drove in big ass trucks to the hillside.
He gave Negan a few **pistol** rounds (likely 38 special). Having good rifle rounds is a totally different story. In fact, Negan should have said "we aren't fighting this battle with revolvers Eugene. Why am I testing this pistol?"
I criticize it because its dumb to think the bullets wouldnt be fired out of the guns because of hot loads. Even if u load a cartridge hot enuf to blow up the gun the bullet still leaves the barrel. Dude wouldve gotten shot in the back of the head and rick and the gang would have died in a volley of bullet fire AND ALSO the guns would blow up. Bullets already left the gun by the time they "blew up"
Spiked ammo wouldn't really kill you. Maybe take your eye out if you're really unlucky, but it'd destroy guns for sure. A more realistic outcome is everyone is confused at what's going on while Rick mows everyone down like the mass murderer he thinks he's not.
Like, possibly if you had it in your shoulder it could launch fragments into your throat, but that’s with a rifle or something. With a pistol it’s just gonna hurt your hands and arms, mostly. Hell, even with a rifle you are probably gonna survive.
A lot of them probably didn't die imediatly, but it certainly made them unable to fight back. If there's a bulltet, in your hand, you'd probably find it difficult to pull a trigger, much less aim with that hand. We also see Rick and Co shooting, so they were probably killing the ones who were in a somewhat good enough condition to put up a fight.
It must have taken a lot of courage for Eugene to pull this stunt. He could have easily been found out if Negan or any of the Savior had thought to test the ammo first.
Worthy of Heisenberg himself playing the germans like a fiddler on the roof, when it came to the "A bomb" development through Norways heavy water plant. Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
So rather than shooting Gabriel first and letting Rick and the others see that first - or maybe have the Saviors massacre Rick's group and make Gabriel watch - instead this one time Negan picks the very least dramatic option of just shooting everybody at the EXACT same moment...because, you know, Negan isn't a very dramatic guy. And this _just happens_ to be the ONLY way Eugene's plan would work. How very fortunate!
Eugene either intentionally used the tampered bullets on his own terms or after Rosita scolded him made him realize who he was or he didn't know about the tampered bullets and rushed every bullet or Regina thought none of the bullets weren't tampered with.
I am so right! Even before the very first time he was with Negan, he is so submissive. Then I said.... hmmm Eugene is planning something! I predicted it and it happened!
@@LifeOdysseyMotivation He didn't have the idea until after Gabriel tried to sabotage the primer. Then he escaped from Rosita but only after she got to him for being a selfish snake in the grass and helping Negan kill all the people who saved him countless times. He then mixed up some kind of explosive to contaminate the gunpowder with or did double-loadings of gunpowder to make the guns explode (this would also be difficult to do without someone in the assembly line noticing something was strange. It would have been better if they had a scene with Eugene individually replacing the first 2-3 bullets with special exploding bullets right before the battle. The idea that he made all 10k rounds of ammo as exploding rounds stretches credulity.
@@WarGrowlmon18 issue is the only way this works is if they all fire, some definitely didn't fire at the exact same time, there'd be at least a few that didn't fire and were fine.
This is why Eugene was so worried about Gabriel running earlier. If one of them had used their guns to try to shoot Gabriel, they would know the guns were defective
@@LodesDipper Yeah, Eugene was probably thinking he might need to kill Gabriel to keep the facade up (since his gun was the only one that worked). It’s pretty cool how everything makes sense after the fact lol
how did Eugene make sure none of them were fired early ? did he tell negan they weren't ready til the last minute or gave him some good test ones to fire first ? did he tell negan to shoot them all at the same time instead of 1 by 1 ?
Negan and Eugene had a conversation before leaving the Sanctuary where Eugene gave Negan his gun with good bullets to test them. Then Eugene suggested assembling a firing line to all shoot at once, so it seems like he planned it all out.
@@adriancarrazco4595 Those were revolver bullets. The scene would have been much more believable if Eugene handed him an AK/AR with test ammo. Otherwise Negan would have said "What, are we fighting this battle with 38 Specials?"
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 negan is not a graduated oxford student. He had no idea you could made handmade bullets you're comparing a person with an average IQ of a genius ( more than 150 ) with a normal guy ( probably smart but not genius, 100 to 120 ) IQ
Twd had been losing steam for so long, especially at this point, but scenes like this kept me around as long as I did. What a great scene and Eugene redemption
Savior's unsuccessful ambush at Rick's group as the bullets kill/wound the saviors themselves instead and destroy the saviors guns in the process. 1:01
I would've stayed still not knowing what to do now like Eugene if they realize it was me all along and they look at me while yelling my name like Negan's "EUGENE..!"
Ya like that would mess up Negan's hand without sending shrapnel into Gabriel's brain LMAO.... This season was the beginning of the end of good writing and logic for this show....
If this was a real situation that would happen. If I was one of those people I wouldn’t know those bullets would explode and if I hear I bang from a bunch of other people and smell smoke while staring at the enemy I would think the guns are shooting until the gun in my hand explodes and I have plastic shrapnel in my face
@@Bsoslsh 223 Remington ammunition may be shot safely in either a . 223 Remington or a 5.56mm chamber. However, you should only shoot 5.56mm ammunition in a rifle with a 5.56mm chamber or you are risking a potentially catastrophic (and dangerous) incident. Also a lot of those guns were AKs, i.e. 7.62x39.
I could tell from the second Eugene first said “I’m Negan” that he was wholeheartedly lying and was playing the long con. A lot of people seemingly didn’t see it
Its kind of dumb how the only gun that was fired before then was eugenes gun with nobody practicing or shooting a walker before then, but still this is probably my favourite scene in the walking dead. The dread as negan starts counting, building up as the giant firing line arrayed on the ridge about to riddle the heroes with bullets and then the euphoria when it all literally backfires, the animalistic way negan growls "eugene" and then everybody chasing the now unarmed saviours. It's such a good scene.
this is the exact moment when i really love eugene. without touching enemy, no bleeding, but can take down more than 50 people including Negan without a single hit
Just because u overload a round with powder doesnt mean all the guns wouldnt fire, dude with a gag wouldve got shot in the back of the head and the whole group wouldve died in a volley of bullets AND the guns would blow up.
Can someone explain the geography to me? Rick's group had no idea where they were coming from but they advanced to where they were visible and could fire in two seconds, yet Negan's small group was online with the rest despite not moving. And they were supposedly just cresting the hill when it came time to fire, but were all facing downhill when their ammo exploded.
@@longshucksgaming Those are some serious angles. Did you catch the angles where everyone in Rick's group is looking around with no idea where Negan is?
