When Gage did that fake cry. lol The real Gage came out at the end with that look. Gage has never grown as a character, he's always been a coward & weak. He's an empty vessel anyone can fill & manipulate. No tears from me.

Maggie is like in the comics and Neagan created her. And the years that followed, they continued to shape in that direction. She is a dictator. The white-haired old guy who died here had his first and so far only appearance in the episode after Rick's "Death". He was one of the riders who accompanied Michone to hilltop. That's it until then. The actor is relatively well known for supporting roles in movies.

I'm glad negan finally vocalize how much he has helped the group. Still hating Maggie's hypocrisy though. I get she's seen a lot but she wasn't here to see head's on spikes. Carol saw her kids decapitated head growling at her on a stick. Everyone has witnessed horrible things in this show

one thing tho yes Maggie say that she want to kill Negan and she would have probably done the same but she had multiple occasion to kill him and she didn't she also say that they needed him to navigate so i believe that if the role were reverse in this situation she would have help him for the supplies and Maggie has every right to want Negan dead dude killed her husband in front of her when she was pregnant she has every right to want him dead to be pitty and treated him like shit ..Negan doesn't .(well now he does cause she want to kill him but compare to her no reason) if he actually tried to help her i believe that would have make things a little better for him with the group to show that even if she want him dead and nobody like him he still tried to redeem himself but he choose not to wich make him less likeable for the others that was a stupid decision on Negan part..

I had one 12-pack of tp at the start stored in the garage. And I had a new puppy... I left him for 15 minutes and the whole yard looked like it had snowed. I went around the torn up tp and was like, this sheet is okay, and this half sheet is okay, etc. Lol -- I don't know how he got to it and how he destroyed it all so fast.

Maggie seems to have taken on the the ice cold mantle that Rick went through in earlier seasons. And Daryl’s kick ass scene, slicing through the walkers before finishing them off with a grenade, brought to mind Luke Skywalker’s kick ass return in the Mandalorian when he demolished the dark troopers! Daryl is a bit of a Jedi!

I was dying to see Nikki's reaction to this episode and dog. If Daryl would have been in that train car, he would not have left Gage die like that. Even though he was one of the punks that attacked Lydia. Each episode gets better and better. Can't wait for your reaction to the 3rd one. Talk about a roller coaster ride.

That was the whole point of the episode which most people are missing we established 3 things . 1st Maggie and negan aren't much different they showed that by the gage incident . 2nd everyone has come a long way but the only character that hasn't changed is Daryl he still cares for his people and would die for Them where as others have learned to keep a small packed group (am sure I didn't explain this point properly but hope someone gets it ) and final point is that Eugene is a smart ass person not just book knowledge but overall he has turned out to be a very reliable and trustworthy ally and is the underdog (which I think is gonna play a big role in common wealth)

I can’t agree with the group on this one. I get Gage isn’t the best person he’s made a lot of stupid decisions but most of those were out of fear and he didn’t deserve to not get a second chance when so many people standing in that train car wouldn’t be here without getting a second chance. Maggie can’t be mad at Negan when she did the exact same thing. I don’t think she’s quite in the best headspace to lead this mission. I think Daryl should take lead.

the door wasn't easy to open did you not see how much muscle dude(Duncann) struggle to open it for them to get the door open then bring the kid inside they would have all been attacked by the walkers and he decided to leave the group if he had stay that wouldn't have happen

21:35 Gabe has always had a tolerance for Negan, him and Negan always have had deep conversations with eachother Negan was with Gabe when we first got some back story on Negans wife and the things that happened with her and him..so to me it's ok that Gabe asked Negan what was wrong if it was someone else then you could say since when do you care but Gabe asking Negan that is in character with the interactions they have...also Gabe never really shut him up in the first episode Gabe is and was focused on the mission not about drama.

It's not that Maggie's in a dark place, she believes in 'by any means necessary' now. Folks are gonna say Gage was one of the kids that bullied Lydia, but AGAIN, I have said about this show EVERYONE has a dark past. They picking and choosing who lives or dies, while criticizing others that have and do the same who isn't them. They always been this way. Always remember they chose to step into Negan's space (saviors) cause they thought they were the 'freedom fighters'.

Gage was enough mature and old to take his fucking responsabilities he decided to listen Negan and he ran away and put the group in danger, if they had opened that door they would be probably more dead people... Maggie is not the only one who took that decision.. Now sure it's horrible the way he died he didn't deserve such a horrible death. But I can't blame people who have to do dark thing for good reasons.

The problem in this situation is that Gage CHOSE to be selfish and left them while also taking their supplies. Now he expects them to open the door with the high probability of them not being able to overcome the sheer amount of walkers. Remember, them not opening the door saved them quite some time (enough for maggie to tell her story) which allowed Daryl to come save them EXACTLY on time when the door breaks down and they had to fight. Had they opened the door earlier. That may not have been the case and Daryl would have arrived at a train full of his dead friends walking. Choices has consequences. Gage made his choice.

They guy that Maggie left to die also stole all their stuff & took off. The only reason he came back is because he couldn't handle the walkers. So it was a bit different, but even if Maggie had stole or something, the rest still would've hated on Negan.

I honestly think that at the end of the day what Negan did wrong back in season 6, 7, and 8 was treating other communities like slaves by forcing them to work for him, like Rick himself said, it's not about killing people, because at this point, everyone has blood on his hands. Besides, Maggie had the chance to kill Negan, he begged her to do it, but she spared him, so no point bringing that back again.

And Negan had a policy to kill someone in each new group the Saviors met-as the first thing they did. They were going to kill either Abraham, Daryl or Rosita when they met them on the road the first time. I have never seen it as Rick & co killed Saviors first.

They couldn't open the door without breaking it open, meaning that they also wouldn't be able resecure it, putting everyone at risk. Maggie made a tough call but that's what being a leader in the apocalypse means. She had to think of the bigger picture, couple that with the fact Gage had just deserted them, taking all their ammo, food and supplies, leaving them very vulnerable... screw that guy lol. I'm team Maggie!

Screw that kid. He helped beat up Lydia AND he took off with all their stuff and only came back because he couldn't got into trouble. He realized there at the end that Maggie was stalling because she didn't trust him and not because there was no time - clearly there was plenty of time to get him in.

Maggie belittles and berates Negan at every turn and threatens to kill him, yet is mad at him for leaving her to die, yet does the same to someone else. On top of that Gabriel calls out someone as being "a shell of a man who died a coward" when his past is just as bad. The hypocrisy is real.

So we don't remember what Negan did to Maggie's husband? In front of Maggie. While she could have been miscarrying their child. Maybe Maggie should just give Negan a lap dance and massage his feet. God, some of you are unreal with your Negan tunnel vision. Oh, and that kid was an asshole who helped almost beat Lydia to death. I guess some people just prefer cowardly bad guys to heroes.

@@1CarolynK No, but I guess Maggie forgot when she was begging Negan to save her life. If, you feel that much hate and animosity for someone then don't ask them for crap, not even for your life. Likewise, did you forget that Negan was going to stop after he killed Abraham, until Mr. Hothead Daryl punched Negan? Glenn died because Daryl is a hothead, yet Maggie forgave him.

I think Negan pulling Maggie up is different from Maggie opening the door for Gage. Negan pulling her up didn’t jeopardize everyone in the group unlike Gages situation. Gage abandoned the group and has proven himself problematic again so I don’t feel bad for him but Maggie shouldve shown a little more emotion

@@1972jbk I think the implication was that the door was rusted/jammed and would have taken too long for them to open and they didn't have the ammo the clear all the walkers (as we saw). But I do agree, I feel like the whole execution of the Gage and Maggie stuff felt weird. As for dog, I think it makes sense that he was able to jump on one walker and keep it down. Shiva was swarmed by a bunch of walkers whereas dog just had the 1. I also think the Commonwealth stuff was very well done so overall more good than bad but definitely some missteps

@@1972jbk I agree killing gage and maggie letting him die was very weird, but them being able to kill the walkers shortly after makes sense because they had a bomb that time, and they had no choice but to kill the walkers so they had to face it knowing they dont have enough ammo, luckily daryl was there to save the day with the bomb

I heard someone in another video comment that technically Negan has now actually been with "our group" significantly longer than Maggie was time wise. From Season 2 to season 9 when she left there wasn't actually THAT much time that passed. (Think Laurie was newly pregnant when we met her and she was no more than 3 1/2-4 when she left...or last we saw her at least) Negan b/c of the 7yr time jump has been with Alexandria almost double that before any other time jumps after Rick's last episode. I love Maggie, even after this. You can’t go through seeing as much evil in the world as she has and not be changed for it. I remember back when Lori told Hershel she hadn’t felt the baby move in days and was worried about a Walker being inside her trying to tear its way out. And that’s exactly what those women were going through that Maggie talked about. What Maggie did by killing the ones who were still alive but tortured brutally, could be seen as an act of compassion given they do not have the medical facilities to deal with gauged out eyes, limbs removed and stitched back on, and Walker babies in utero. After having personally experienced something horrific at 9 years old, I completely understood what she meant by having lost something and maybe it’s not a bad thing she did. She can see the evil that exists now. She’s clear on it. And it’s everywhere. This is where I think Steven might be able to empathise a little with Maggie because he’s always maintained taking in new people into your group of people he cares about would be a no-go for him. She’s trying to do right by her group and protect them from the evil she knows exists. With Gage, yeah they should’ve tried harder instead of wasting time yapping about it. I’m sure he could’ve made it inside. And even if they tried and failed, it wouldn’t leave Maggie being looked at like an a*shole to everyone now. When I saw Negan looking at the hanging bodies, I literally said “yeah you used to do shit like this as a tactic” and sure enough, so did the Reapers. Shock people into standing still in disbelief and then attack.

I completely agree with your assessment with Negan. I'm all for team Negan. Maggie forgets what kind of world this is. Out of all the people she has dealt with before Glenn and after Glenn (she even talks about that dark story) she shouldn't give him such a hard time. He did 7 years. Not a lot of people do that in this apocalypse. Glenn wasn't personal for Negan. Negan has done just more than his time.

Maggie will never forgive Negan for what happened to Glenn. I don't know if Negan has changed or not, but I wouldn't care if he has changed. Everything he did as the Saviors' leader, there's no making up for that. The mistreatment and disrespect he's getting is something Negan is have to put up with if he's going to stay at Alexandria.

@@steverogers6572 Some folks can change, while others can't/won't. That depends on the mistakes that were made and in Negan's case, I wouldn't even think about forgiving him for the shit he's done. Whatever he does for the rest of his life(no matter what he does), Negan can never make up for his past atrocities. Yes he did, but a few good deeds here and there doesn't make up for his misdeeds in my book. Negan went to jail for 7 years when he should've been doing a life sentence as Rick wanted, but Carol let him out against Rick's wishes to fight Alpha. All due respect, Carl's dream was exactly that, a dream. It was never going to be real. It was just the delusional dream from a delirious dying child. Carl wouldn't have died in the first place if he had a kept his ass in Alexandria over looking for Siddiq. You're right. I don't believe in Negan anymore than the justice system. Why should I believe in someone who likes to kill folks and could ditch them at anytime like he did with Maggie? And as for the justice system, what justice system are you talking about?

@@steverogers6572 negan is trying to be a good man and had done good deeds for the group during the whisperer arc, but I hate that he hasn't shown any remorse or regrets towards maggie, maggie not forgiving negan is valid and will never not be, the thing with maggie right now is she changed and she values survival more than morals, which is beautiful writing cause it's definitely very different from glenn's character. I hope her character develops which is what the show is kinda hinting now if she stays like this throughout the end I'll be pissed , I once loved maggie and I hope she becomes a more loveable maggie just like what she was. The maggie today is a product of everything she have been trough, there wasnt really any focus on maggie's development during the death of hershel, beth. Now after glenn's death and her failure to get revenge on negan, she's in a dark and different place right now

Did you notice, that in the photo that Daryl finds with the two kids, there's a bunny rabbit in it?? It's the same one that Maggie picks up and then throws back down on the ground. At the end of the episode, Daryl lies to her, when she asks him if he saw anything else in the tunnels

I love JDM and think Negan is a great character, but I'm not feeling a complete redemption arc for him. It's not even the fact that he killed people (although the delight he took in killing Glenn and Abraham was sick) but he also enslaved people, forcibly took over communities, and was a rapist. He coerced women into sleeping with him or bad things would happen. He told Sherry he would kill Dwight if she didn't marry him and her sister Tina would only be able to get her insulin if she also joined his harem. He justifies it in his mind because they have a "choice" but choosing between death or sleeping with someone is not really a choice at all. That kind of behavior is disgusting and I feel like the writers haven't really addressed it that much since season 7. I mean, he made that gross speech about taking widows back with him to Rick, saying he wanted Maggie to be a part of his harem. If not for his rapey behavior, I could see him being redeemed, but as someone who has dealt with men like him, it's really hard for me to see him as a redeemable guy. I think his charismatic and charming behavior definitely manipulates people into thinking he is a great guy. I feel like the writers went too far with his character in season 7 and are trying to backpedal a bit by not bringing up the very sinister things that he did in season 7.

I feel like Maggie's transformation already started happening at the end of season 8 when she said "we'll show him" like she's some sort of villain. She clearly didn't like Rick's decision to leave Negan alive and tried to take actions into her own hands later. I'm not really surprised to see how a couple years could've turned that Maggie at the end of season 8 into the Maggie we have now. I personally don't dislike Maggie's transformation as it really makes everything less black and white and the episode really just shows that history is written by the victors, hence why nearly everyone was okay with Maggie leaving Gage but not okay with Negan leaving Maggie. That being said, I don't think this makes Maggie a villain. Not at all. Just years of protecting the one thing she has left of Glenn and being a leader has taught her that being a survivor has been more beneficial than being righteous, especially when it comes to keeping her boy safe. The story she told this episode supports that.

People like Gage would do what Nicholas did when Noah got killed. Gage was a coward and if they rescued him, he would have gotten someone killed simply because he is untrustworthy and will immediately go into survival mode which is to think for himself, it’s like Nicholas back in season 5...Glenn gave him so many chances and in the end he gave up resulting in Glenn nearly being killed right there, so it’s not rocket science to Believe that the same would have happened if they kept gage along for the ride.

Man, Season 11 has started off real strong. And the Walkers feel like a threat again because supplies are low. Nice return to form. I like how Maggie being completely cold was meant to piss you off before she gave a story about just one of the things she saw while by herself trying to survive. Then you realize she's kinda where Rick was in Season 5-6.

If Gage hadn't betrayed them and ran away with the supplies, they would've saved him. That combined with what happened to Lydia in season 9 the kid deserved it IMO. Okay, maybe not deserved it, but he would've died anyway or get others killed. He was a problem.

I liked the evolution of his character, and when I learned that he was going to be part of Maggie’s main group in season 11, I immediately hoped for a beginning of development, his character was still put forward in this beginning of season 11. with a shocking death and Gage wanted to redeem himself, he was a good guy even if before he was a little asshole. he hurt me deeply, you can see he was sincere and he was also afraid🥺

I don't have a problem with Negan Rick and gang killed his guys in there sleep and was going around killing his guys before they even know who they were. Negan killed 2 of Rick's guys so I feel they got off good. I agree with Steve, Negans plan was to kill one guy then Daryl did that Glenn was just the closest person to him.🤷‍♂️

They were monsters that went around stealing from other communities and forcing them into slavery. They would kill members as an example if they didn't comply. There were even pictures on the wall in the outpost (trophies) of people they killed. Not just two. Just because they didn't spend an episode showing all the murders, it was made clear who they were. Some of his men already tried to kill Sasha, Darryl, and Abraham before the raid. The only error was that Rick didn't have all of the information about Negan's numbers. Otherwise, they would have rolled up on the gates of Alexandria at some point and the death count would have been even higher.
