Well they've been doing helluva great job since Angela Kang stepped in as showrunner, so I'm optimistic this'll end on a good note unlike how Game of Thrones ended.
Even if I never read the comics, killing off Carl was their biggest mistake. He was the legacy badass Grimes who should have outlived everyone and who could narrate the entire story of his Dad and family in the apocalypse to all his children and other children born in the later years of a more civilized society emerging again to occupy the country. I also liked how old man Carl in the comics ended the series by reading the story of Rick Grimes.
I wouldn't say Carl had a big role in The Commonwealth arc. He didn't really play a role until issue 192. I think the biggest characters of that arc that aren't new characters are Rick, Michonne, Dwight and Maggie
I thought about something very, very weird and ironic. What if Negan and Maggie fall in love with each other? That would be a dark twist. And Andrew Lincoln, I really hope that he will be back in this season. He is THE man. Don't get me wrong, I also like Negan, but Rick is just the best. He has proven that so many times and I think Negan is envious regarding that.
I cried for 2 weeks straight when Carl died as far as I was concerned they slit their own throat at that time we all knew he was to be the one so much of the storyline revolved around Carl and Chandler Riggs did a great job as Carl. That did it for me now I watch new ones in its and pieces but don't really know what is going on. No premiere ever will top Terminus what a great story line that was what happened. Thanks for listening to my rant Peace
Once the show is over I'm going to finally read the comics. I know the comics came first but I started watching the show before I ever knew about the comics
Don't listen to her, read the comics if you want. Personally, I think the comics are amazing and also prefer them over the show, but hey, that's just my opinion.
Maybe with the Daryl and Carol spinoff Daryl is alive but carol died and he is remembering stuff with carol, like flashbacks, enough of them to make her a main character. It would be heartbreaking but it would also surprise people. Because I, like you, think they are safe maybe they do it to throw everyone off. Idk just an idea I had.
I just really don't like the idea of a huge time jump in the show because of Judith rn. They would have to recast her & it would lose SO MUCH of what we've built up with the actress since she came back. If they brought someone new in, they'd have to do it early & build her up the whole season but that would be a huge waste of time imo. I just don't think the show has earned that time skip to age jump change. I hate the idea of it, but I honestly don't think that Rick will return for Season 11. I am almost dreading the final season because of the lack of Carl
I agree 💯 percent they should never ever got rid of Carl he was Ricks reason for everything in his life and to get rid of him was one huge mistake along w Glenn and some other favorites that didn’t need to go out the way they did !
Carl's death was a crucial catalyst for the changes which occurred as a result. It had to be either him or Rick at that point or the endless repitition which had grown old fast would have continued and sadly, I don't believe Carl would have had the influence alive that he did by dying.
An article promoted by AMC came out recently saying it would be 3 parts of 8 episodes each. Blame Gimple for the Carl thing. It was supposed to be Morgan but Gimple just HAD to give FEAR to him. I still can't stand him for that last part.
There's another RU-vid channel I subscribe to that will post scenes from the upcoming episode of Fear on Thursdays, plus the first few minutes of the next episode. I scroll as fast as I can past those thumbnails because I don't want any hints about what's to come. Sometimes I will watch the first minutes of the next episode once I've seen the previous one, but I don't want to see all the sneak peeks. Like you said, it kind of ruins watching the episode when you've already seen it in bits and pieces.
Did you two guys upgrade your channel by getting yourselves some Microphones??? I was like God damn your voices sound sooooo different high quality!!!! Great job guys keep it up
Has to be dark, because we got 3 movies, Fear, and two more spin-offs. I honestly want to see Rick escape CRM with like 5 mins left. Only to return to Alexandria to try and warn them about CRM. When he returns he finds Alexandria either in ruins or ran by Negan. Rick initially would think Negan is still bad because he never saw a good Negan yet. Plus Maggie regardless will never forgive Negan, its just TOO PERSONAL GUYS. LIKE RICK WITH SHANE. Unless he saves her kid. Then she may but Negan would save a kid good or bad anyway. Josh your 10000 percent right, if they do a huge time jump showing that every1 lived happily ever after, then the movies and shows coming would be spoiled! Cause just like you said with Darryl and Carol spinoff, we know they will survive UNLESS THEY GO IN-DEPTH WITH THE SEVEN YEARS HE SEARCHED FOR RICK, AND THEY SHOW CAROL'S POV. BUT THERES NO POINT. Great video guys.
I think they release the sneak peeks and photos before they get released by "anonymous" ppl. Rick has to come back before the season ends, it just makes sense!
Who's job is it to take care of Judith and RJ? Maggie's back so is she the new babysitter? It's like they forgot, Carl would've made sense he was the big brother. Daryl, Carol, and Negan off doing their own thing. The movie is Rick trying to find his family. What do they say to Rick when he returns? Sorry we forgot to watch the kids".
Lydia was seen living with them for a while with Daryl, so she could be the stable presence, with the whole, "It takes a village....." thing being more literal in these complicated times. Aaron keeps leaving Gracie too, so presumably people just pitch in. They've certainly had reason for that to be the norm with all the orphans who must have been left, eg after the massacre of so many of the Kingdom by the Saviors and so many tasks taking parents away for long periods. Children depending on only one or two people would make no sense in such unstable times.
@@moragmckay3779 Judith being the python gun carrying kid is not going to see Lydia as parental guidance. If they time jump again another 6ys Judith will be 16, Hershel 14 and RJ 12. Babysitting not needed. These kid's should have some kickass skills by now and Judith should have run out of bullets for that gun by now.
@@jewelweed5375 I thought you were talking about now ie when they were all taking off during the six episodes. I also meant Lydia more as company and help with RJ etc as well as female advice; more like a big sister type of babysitter than a parent. However tough and well-armed, an 11-12 year-old still needs some stable older person to turn to. I can't see a six-year jump, bypassing the whole Maggie/Negan issue they were at pains to set up. That would be a real cheat.
He was on the show for 8 years- grew up with it, and has had to be on there the whole time- I find it fine that he left because he has to have literally anything else in his life to pursue, so on paper- Carl can never die, but when it’s a young mans life, it’s a little less set in stone to keep him for 11-12 years right?
@@_e11e_78 fair enough- but I feel it is two things- a more interesting and holistic effect on the people and the environnement (i.e. you see the effect of Carl throughout the show proceeding his death, and that Is much more interesting than him never being in danger, and the main cast not having that consequence) as well as a studio understanding of the fact that he is a kid, and though it wasn’t his decision to leave, it is one that allows him to go be a kid at least a little bit, and the pursue movies etc (like he’s done recently) so yes he didn’t decide to, but that’s not the point
@@conlinbuttermann8803 you're completely entitled to your opinion ofc, but I respectfully disagree 😉 And if you think they were at all concerned with him "being a kid" well I just flat out think that's wrong. From everything that I seen at the time, both he and his family were completely shocked, as he'd been led to believe different. In a deleted FB post his father said this "Watching Gimple fire my son 2 weeks before his 18th birthday after telling him they wanted him for the next 3 years was disappointing," That doesn't sound like a group of people who had Chandler's best interests at heart to me. As for the storyline, I think they can change it up as they've done with many other characters and still tell a good story, and though heartbreaking, the storyline around Carl being bit was good TV to some extent, but I think it's certainly caused a bit of a ripple effect both on and off screen.
@@_e11e_78 I didn’t know about some of that, so fair enough- maybe it wasn’t handled the best- and that’s never satisfying for anyone involved. I appreciate what effect Carl has both alive and dead, and though getting to that behind the scenes may not have been the best, and understandably, from what you’ve said, not the most professional, I still feel as though having him go through the whisperer storyline and making the same mistake he made at Alexandria with the Anderson kid and caring about another girl to start another conflict would be criticized, and rightly so, for repetitive character behavior, and would undercut what Carl represented/represents for the characters. Though he has some substantial stuff at the end, I feel getting to that point in the comics is slightly laborious, whereas giving Henry that path, and setting up why, and having us still care for him a bit, but not letting it be stale, makes that not A undercut Carl’s purpose, and B not create a lulling sense of repetition, that had they kept him on, the show would be criticized for. I do agree, the things I didn’t know about are not the finest moments of executive decision, I feel the story is made richer with what symbolism and power Carl has before and after season 8 episode 9. This is great, I love these constructive conversations :) (no sarcasm)
I dont know if you can get much darker then the Negan's debut with bashing in the head of one of out beloved characters or whisperers wearing dead masks and hanging heads on poles but we will see
I agree with you guys about the opening minutes. I stopped watching them because the first 3 minutes of the episode was always boring because I had already seen it
I feel like nobody are talking about this, but i'm so excited to see what they do in terms of walkers. I know Jeffrey's son will portray a walker, which is really cool 'cause we've barely had any child-walkers on the show. They're many years into the apocalypse, so will there still be BIG herds of walkers? It's the last season so i really wanna see them come up with some really insane walker scenes, since the show is really about walkers. Some of my favorite episodes ever are episodes where walkers have been the actual threat - for example in ''Beside the dying fire'' and ''No Way Out''
They have to tie the CRM and Commonwealth together somehow. It's unlikely they don’t know of each other. The Reapers shouldn't be some random group. Tie them to the CRM. Our people are caught up in the middle of all the overarching conflict.
One more thing bout my theory. Jerell also points out around the 7:20 min mark. A good ending ruins things to come, like Darryl and Carol. We just need to find out why they leave basically unless they show things during the time jump. Negan's origin show rejuvenated the franchise. If Rick returns finding bad guy Negan in charge of the Commonwealth PLUS CRM...Think about how dark that is. Seeing Shane's entire theory came full circle about not killing to ensure the safety of his loved ones. He let Negan live. He never saw Negan redeem himself so even for that SPLIT SECOND, its like when you think you lost your wallet that feeling is instant but horrible than you find it. Now if Negan was the most successful leader in the entire franchise. The Saviors had the biggest group (besides CRM, Commonwealth) Rick will think he's bad whether he is or not. I think him then going to find Michionne, Morgan, Darryl and Carol with Negans help is the way to go.
The comic jumped 25 years after Rick's death! I think the way the comic does it is the only way it would work with the Rick Grimes' movie still to come. They could show certain people in the future still alive with a system and structure set up with politics and what not but still leave it open just for the movies to truly end the story line(Kind of like how the tv show prison break released that movie explaining what happened to Michael Scofield). What a bullshit move Scott Gimple, you killed Carl off just so you didn't have to pay Chandler Riggs more money because he was turning 18, on his 18th birthday he gets fired. ... what a douche bag.
My question... If things in this final season are going to be very(x4) DARK, why will this be the last season of TWD? You can't end a series with nothing but darkness. Also, any more word of the switch to Disney+?
there is no switch to disney plus.. they will be airing the eps of all seasons on disney plus in the UK and Ireland.. the walking dead universe is still owned and operated by AMC and always will be.. if you live in US the walking dead entire series is on Netflix and FTWD is on Hulu and Prime.. its the last season and its going to be dark and it needs to be dark not all rainbows and unicorns
@@detestor420 For the people in the UK and Ireland that is a switch, requiring an extra, expensive subscription to watch, which is causing a lot of anger here.
@@timmywinfrey8111 It's been widely announced in the UK, because Disney has taken over Fox, so from next month Fox programmes, including TWD, will be only on Disney plus.
I actually have not read the comics, I know its different then the show but I chose early on to let it all be a surprise, I will read the comics after the series is over
I think the comic jumped about 25 years. Carl was in his late 40"s after the jump. I have a feeling they're going to change ALOT from the comics for the final season. The commonwealth arc wasn't that dark in my opinion. I can't wait to see what they change!
If they jump 25 years, most of the characters would be dead. They certainly couldn't be played by the same actors. The only way they could include such a jump is if adult Judith is relating the story and most of the scenes are flashbacks.
Getting on my "Jacob Young Soapbox" - He was a re-cast (for an actor that won multiple Emmy's for the role and also won an Emmy himself for the same) that I thought I'd HATE for a core character (Lucky Spencer) on "General Hospital," a show that I've literally watched since I was 4 (I'm 43 now). He won me over & that takes a LOT of doing. Don't count him out just because he's a "soap actor." He's good, DAMN good, and we're lucky (no pun intended) to have him. Whatever character they've cast him as will be worth watching - personally, I want to see his spin on the smarmy little a-hole, Sebastian. End of rant.
And they also have to add in rick to part of the world beyond storyline because he at crm when hope goes there so they gotta end it all together sort of even with fear because althea and isobel
Weird that they are introducing the Reapers and the Troopers, but not group from Walking dead beyond. ( which were in both fear and walking dead. Rick)
@@amon8579 yeah I stopped reading the comics between after the whisper war and the commonwealth so I didn’t know that, cool tho to see what they do here
How dark do you believe a caste system is? Which the Commonwealth is. The Reapers were created to give the people in Alexandria something to deal with while story is going on in the Commonwealth. In the comics there was nothing going on in Alexandria.
When they talk about the characters history I wonder if they mean when they go to the Commonwealth and they have to go back to living there old lives and take there old jobs
Thats why i said my opinion but hey thats cool that you think ep 1 was the best, definitely didnt see the story going this far and if the nukes do go off will kinda explain some different aspects of why some states are not explored as much in the shows
@@348tacos7 Yeah I know I'm just kidding. If they went by your profession pre change, Maggie would either be a college student or a farmer. Negan was in education, so that would prob make him higher up in this society if going by the comment Marcus left.
Really brutal and dark? I hope it doesn't return to the style of the seasons which lost it so many viewers, with endless war, anger and deaths of people we haven't had the chance to care about, or formerly-loved characters changed so much we don't care about them any more. It's more recent method of taking time to round out the characters and show the details of how they are rebuilding their society with basic technologies while struggling mentally with their past trauma has made the show must-see TV again, occupying viewers' thoughts long after the credits have rolled. These past few seasons have been a great reward for sticking with the show when it seemed to be an endless, repetitive round of unremitting death, destruction and misery. If its final season puts us through that again it will be a betrayal of its loyal fans and a very sour note to go out on.
Realistically speaking, zombies will be less and less of a threat as years go by. Why? -- cuz people will learn how to deal with them effectively and the zombies are progressively decaying which makes them slower and weaker. so i ask you this: Does it make sense to have the zombies as the main threat for 10+ seasons? Zombies are only a threat when they are in a huge group. But even then, in the comics, they figured out how to safely solve that problem. So no, the focus on zombies would be dumb
@@PeacepiperF20 😂😂 the zombies killed a lot of people at the beginning and often enough as seasons goes by. And the show isnt even about zombies in the fiest place. Its about ppl surviving in a zombie world 😂
Let's be honest. This show is top notch and I watched the first 6 seasons several times. But then it just started to get repetitive. Neegan was the Governor all over but without any of the true-ness that is a conflict in all of us. But when they started blending genres like gum picked off the bottom of diner table like Fantasy (that group in the junk pile with their own lingo), the group wearing Crosses on their armour and Neagan's group) it lost everything that held us to it. And let me NEVER mention that hideous King Ezekial. What? We all went that crazy that fast? And started talking like robots in a junk pile world? And Carl was still around so a million years had not passed. They blended too many genres: fantasy, sci-fi, futuristic, King Arthur ertc. Then they killed people we loved and the show needed like Glen and Abraham. It went off the rails and I could NOT bear to watch. I started Fear the Walking Dead. Far gar better show. By a million miles.
How is Fear better?! Give me 5 reasons why it’s better. Season 4 and 5 were absolute garbage and not even season 6 can top the Walking Dead in its prime. Negan wasn’t The Governor all over, that’s like saying Voldemort is Sauron all over.
You do realise there's a wprldwide pandemic that has been delaying many productions, inclusing the start on the Rick Grimes movies? You do know that right?
