Shane is the most underrated character in that show.He was so much in front of the others when it came to surviving.He got adapted to the new situation of the world way faster than any other one did.When u see Rick now u will see that he became like shane a lot.He understood that you are not safe anymore and that u cant trust anyone.Kill or get killed

Shane Was Right About Everything

I dunno what y'all are saying but Shane till this date remains as one of the toughest survivors in the series. I hate people who disliked him for that Lori affair and shooting Otis. It was Lori to be blamed not Shane. Without him, Rick and his family would've died. He's a fully complex character. Has everything what it takes to survive the apocalypse. If the directors hadn't killed him off, the show would've been more badass if they were to front him along with Rick and Daryl. The 3 of them would dominate the zombie apocalypse as long as there's no Lori.

Shane was a realist. He knew what it took to get the job done without having emotions getting in the way. Rick has been controlled too much by his emotions and it has cost the group several times. If shane were alive during a meeting with the governor and ricks group, shane would have put a bullet in his head and ended it instead of trying to make peace and coexist, which we all know didn't work out.

Shane's expressions around 2:02 shows so much emotion, it literally kills me.

Perfect to Shane . Still my favorite character till this day. They killed him off too soon even tho he went past his arc.

What makes Shane such a good character is that when you first watch the show you don’t really know whether he is good or bad. Admittedly, when I first watched the show I hated him. Then, upon rewatch, like many others, I realized that he knew the reality of the apocalypse and the sacrifices that needed to be made to keep his loved ones alive. Also upon rewatch, I realized just how toxic and destructive Lori was to Shane. What once was a good man who would have done anything for Lori and Carl (and Rick) was turned into a violent, dangerous person who ended up having to be killed by his one-time best friend, all because of Lori’s manipulative and mentally abusive behavior. He was also put into one of the worst situations imaginable when he was forced to kill Otis in order to save Carl’s life. Overall, Shane is the best character ever on The Walking Dead because of his willingness to do whatever it took to keep the people he loved safe, even if it made him look crazy to the other characters.

I absolutely hated Shane during season 2, but after witnessing all the shit our survivors have been through and now Negan in the picture, I see that Shane wasn't wrong at all, maybe a little crazy over Lori but still Shane season 2 was Rick Season 5.

season 2 episode 8 (when this song also featured, at the end i might add) was without doubt one of the best episodes of the walking dead. Rick finally sorted his shit, the air was clear and goddamn jon bernthal is a terrific actor he nailed it and the last scene was just epic, with him in that car staring at the lonely wandering zombie and civilian playing. pure class,

Shane and Merle were misunderstood

Shane was easily the best character on The Walking Dead. They knew what they were doing with him and Jon Bernthal brought him to life like I wouldn't have imagined. I'm a pretty hardcore fan of the comics, but I could have forgiven them for keeping him alive in the show. Hell, it would have made up for them killing Andrea.

The most realistic, human and best written character in the show. Season 2 was the peak of the show, less characters but well written with depth, not many events but still well written and executed.

Shane did nothing wrong at all. He did check on Rick in the hospital "not to mention he was only one to do so" and he heard no heart beat. Lori was the one that fucked him over. Does anybody else almost literally cry when watching this? I am a dude first off :P It's insane how his character was so good at heart, and the way he always pretended he got over killing Otis but he NEVER did. Was so fucking emotional that it slowly broke him down piece by piece and showed he wasn't a ruthless killer. he was a cop pretending to be fine with the world and attuned when in reality Killing otis was eventually his turn into insanity and ultimately, death.. R.I.P Shane Walsh..

back when walking dead was so damn good, so many different characters with great stories and development arcs, when atmosphere had that sublime feeling of desperation with barely any hope... so sad this show fell on its face so hard, almost a caricature of its former self, so so sad

i’m currently rewatching the second season and this video just popped right in time. i miss so so so much the first time i watched the walking dead back to 2014. that is pretty uncommon but shane is, in fact, my favorite character. even tho he did a lot of bad things and made the wrong choices, he’s the most interesting and seeing his downfall in every episode leading to his death is utterly fascinating. he left a hole in the show for me that it’s unmatched until today. same goes to rick, their relationship and the beautifully strong bond they had.

This is brilliant. It's cut so well and the emotion... wow, it really gets to you. You did a fantastic job man, you really know how to get those heart strings pulled.

Shane was a good character and all, because he protected Lori and Carl. But he still killed Odis and tried to kill Rick for Lori, because he was driving insane. He was a good survivor, but went a bit far with the killing.

I loved what they did to shane, in the comics he was just a plot device to develop characters like rick, lori and carl, in the show he is a plot devise but he is his own character too.

Shane Walsh is still my favorite character to this day. I won’t deny that he was a colossally fucked up individual, especially after leaving Otis to the walkers to save his own skin, but sometimes that’s just the way people are. One way or another you always have a choice. Up until his death Shane was a survivor and he did everything he could (good and bad) to keep his group alive. He adapted to his post apocalyptic life faster than any of the other members, and while that undoubtedly was a good thing, it was also one of the things that led to his demise. Long story short, Shane Walsh meant well and tried to be a good man, but the bad, fucked up man inside made him a mad dog.

I loved shane as a character, like he was a great guy, but he did what he had to do to survive, but he wasn't as strong willed as rick, and just lost it, he was so complex, from wanting to keep lori, to wanting to keep his best friend. He just lost his mind.

Pure nostalgia. no other show made me feel so immersed into the world up to the point where they introduced negan and let carl die. It rly lost it's spirit and deep episodes over time. Shane is still my fav Character and the lonely Walker in the field Episode is still the most memorable Episode beside the Beth an daryl mountain goats episode for me in the entire show. this Song at the end of the Episode just punched me Off the rails and Made me get tears in the eyes bc i knew it was something special.
