Did you love the kitchen scenes? Usually that was when the whole Walton family gathered together. So these were challenging to shoot, but great moments in the episodes.

It would be a far better World if we still had shows like the Waltons that showed the Family in the Kitchen

Whoever did the casting for The Waltons did an amazing job. The chemistry between the various Waltons so so strong, so positive, it was easy to believe they were a real family. Thanks for all of these, Judy!

I loved the kitchen scenes , I didn't realize how difficult how it was to film the meal scenes

I noticed during the years that everyone had their specific place at the table, no switching places. I also liked to see "what was for dinner".

I absolutely love The Waltons, I still watch the reruns today, and I have the whole series ❤

Just found your channel... my sister and I watched The Waltons in the 70's, I made sure my kids watched "quality" tv so they watched as well and now I have the entire DVD series for my grandchildren and my husband and I still watch!!! Wonderful times !!! Thank you Judy.

Those kitchen scenes that looked so family oriented and fun were not so fun after all, I think it's amazing that all the kids make it look so easy. We know the adult actors can pull it off and the children were as professional.

I think Judy that you should write a book about the show. I think that you would do a wonderful job. So many details and so many memories stored up in your mind. I think that it would be a wonderful success. Thank you for the memories.

What the world needs today is more Waltons. I was devastated when Amazon took it off their prime selections.

I remember an episode where Livvia and I think Jason were at the table each, eating a piece of pie. That all I can remember about that episode

The Walton's was my mother's favorite TV show, she would be 106 if she was still alive. She loved the kitchen scenes. My parents were married in 1929. They raised our family during the depression. I was the youngest, so I was not born till the 1950's. But I heard many stories about the trials and tribulations of raising a family at that time. The Walton's felt like they were a part of our family. There were 7 children in my family, but my brother and I are the only two left. So please keep the videos coming, I enjoy them very much. Hello Ms Norton. Your character, Mary Ellen, was my favorite, so strong, she was way ahead of her time. I wanted to say I love the kitchen scenes, but after hearing the behind the scenes stories, I feel sorry for all the work it took to get through them! Great job, I’ve said the Walton kids were the hardest working kids in television, most were in every episode. I believe you appeared in the most episodes?

With the kitchen scenes taking so long, I know MY tailbone would have gotten a little tender sitting on those benches, especially without any back support. I applaud y'alls endurance.

The kitchen scenes were wonderful J.N.! I'm from a small family of 4. Our kitchen scenes were a bit different than The Waltons family of 11!! I always wanted to be part of a big family! Because there was no stepping out of line!! There were simply too many people to put you in your place!!!

My mother grew up in a family similar to waltons. big house, loads of acres of land as far as you can see, mountains, logging, carpentry, tiny town, whole thing. so similar.

I wasn't even born when The Waltons was on but I started watching a few episodes and it's a pretty good show. They deal with a lot of issues we still grapple with today.

Kitchen was the best scene sitting down for meals and just an all together family time ❤

I always loved the kitchen scenes. There was such great insight into the family - usually laughter, sometimes bickering, but always love!!

Hi Judy, Last night, I was watching Season 1, Episode 3: The Calf, again. I wanted to tell you, I saw Olivia take a bite of food close to the beginning of the show. I think I've seen every season and episode but this was the first one where I actually saw Olivia eat, and she chewed very slowly! You mentioned it on The Kitchen Part 1 and I've been watching closely since. I have 70+ episodes recorded and I had to tell you, she did it!!! I really love the earlier seasons when everyone was there and the kids were smaller. Y'all were so cute and fun! Take care and thanks for your comments and memories!

The Waltons are still my favorite show and last night I watched the first three episodes of season one, again. You had said that Michael never took a bite of food and I had noticed that until last night. It was either The Carnival or The Calf episode she did take a single bite of food. That's the only time I ever saw her do that. I can't remember which one of these videos, part one or part two, where you said if you had seen her take a bite, to let you know. Everyone in my family knows how much I love The Waltons. I raised my kids watching this show. Thanks for these videos that you do telling us about the episodes.

When the family would gather around the radio like we did the television was always fascinating as a kid. I remember asking my Mother if they use to do it, her parents my grandparents use to.

I loved the kitchen scenes! I just can’t believe how you all acted so natural, like you weren’t even acting. Sweeping the floor…taking stuff out of the oven…etc…and remembering your lines all at the same time! How do you do this? Did you all have to sit it a room first and go over lines before actually performing? I would be a mess!

I'm not sure about the Walton's kitchen, but in my family the kitchen table was where all the communication would happen. I have told my children that the most important piece of furniture for a family is the kitchen table if you want to encourage communication. I always enjoyed this series, keep up the videos and your wonderful bits of information.

It's really interesting to hear about the funny things that make the actors laugh, I never would have guessed Michael Learned such a wonderful performer and actress I had such a problem with keeping a straight face. And I do admit if I were in her place I couldn't have done it either!

I enjoyed the kitchen scenes. I remember many summers growing up at my Grandparents. We used spend our days with them while my parents were at work . Being that it was a farm, that was my summer job as well. As a result, we didn't spend much time inside the house during the day. The exception was for the noon dinner. So, that said, a lot of time was spent around that table. I have many happy memories of those times and my Grandparents. I miss both very much, but keep both very much alive in my memories.

You really can't imagine all the hard work involved in creating each scene.. I always thought it was more everyone needing to remember their lines and that is it.. but after this episode Judy ..I can tell it was much much more involved. Wow! You all did a great job at a really hard task..😘🙋💖💖💖💖

My late grandfather reminds me of Ralph and now that you mentioned him singing off key...well...my grandfather couldn't sing for anything but would sing songs like that too around me. I was very close to him and miss him so much! He was born on March 17, 1927. I see Ralph was born in 1928. So they were close in age. I wonder if they met in Heaven and chatted and hung out and got to know each other better? :)

I loved watching the waltons as a young girl I would often watch with my grandad and now that I'm grown and my children are grown and yes they watched it as well now my sweet little grandson I watch the reruns with him and he laughs a grandpa sometimes 😊

Just watched this one. So funny!! "I shot the sheriff!" Hilarious. Great insight into the obvious joy of making the show. It came out on the screen, it really did. I also like your descriptions of the set, which are a little different from what we saw on the silver screen. Very interesting stuff. You probably already know this but let me be another to tell you how wonderful your show was and what it meant to me and the whole country. So cool to see the joy that came in making it. I always wanted life to be like what I saw on t.v. when I watched The Waltons. I had a horrible childhood and I would have given anything to have one dinner scene like I watched on The Waltons.

I.just watched the empty nest that grandpa passed away that episode was so sad he is so missed after all these years

I loved that kitchen it was so warm and homey and comfortable. By the way, I watched “The Wedding” on Sunday and saw the close ups of you and Tom (Curt) and I saw the close ups of you two, when you were on the ladders. It was done very well.

So glad I found your RU-vid channel. We watched all the shows back when originally came out. Started watching and recording them from METV but some episodes were not available, so for my 75th birthday last month my hubby bought me the DVDs of all 9 seasons and they movies. We watch every night. I can't believe they let Curt go the chemistry between you two was so amazing. I understand he was a good bit older than you. Thank you for answering this old grandma who still cries during many touching episodes. You're still as pretty as ever.

Really enjoy your "behind the scenes" You Tube videos. The Waltons was such a wonderful, wholesome tv show that gave the viewing audience a moral lesson in every episode. Although I am not involved in the entertainment industry, I can certainly appreciate the difficulties of filming the kitchen scenes. By "day's end," you all must have been so tired of food. lol. One of the Christmas scenes, grandma came out into the living room through the door by the coat rack.

There is one thing I've noticed and that is while at the table most of you would pick at the food except for Ralph Waite I noticed in a lot of the table scenes he would most likely be eating was he always hungry my brothers are like that always hungry...thanks Judy!!

I love the Walton's I watch it everyday I'm going to Skyler VA I know that's not how u spell it. To stay at the walton bed and breakfast can't wait all the actors in the show hold a special place in my heart thanks so much for the info Judy great show

My favorite sceen was the passing by train with the supposed corpse of President Roosevelt on board. THE GOOD NIGHT MR: PRESIDENT gave me goosebumbs. I still remember the big funeral celebration for Chancelor Adenauer how sad that made me But what makes me really sad is the thought that the show will be sooner then later a forgotten gem. The younger generations of today have other shows and this one even with so great actors and directors ( not to forget them ) will be in not to far times something for TV enthusiasts and University specialists for modern American Culture
