He has been extra savage this episode. And I love that, because they held someone for months, and then 12 days against her will. 5 broken ribs is no joke, when I bruised my ribs I couldn't get up to go to the toilet without the help of my boyfriend for a week. He did everything for me, because all I could do is lay there in pain. He took me to the hospital when it happened, and didn't believe they were 'just bruised' and when the hospital staff asked if I had been drinking He completely lost his shit. Of course I hadn't otherwise he wouldn't have been driving me there. We only drink together, and were playing pool when I slipped and fell. He insisted that I get help, I took 5 weeks off of work without a doctors note. He took 3 weeks off so that he can help me out of bed when I needed to go to the toilet. Broken ribs are agony, I cried and watched my boyfriend cry every single day. Sophie should not have gone through it, I can't imagine her pain.
What confuses me, Sabrina forced Sophie to a police station, accused her of plotting murder, being a spy and being in cahoots with someone in another country, but the police didn’t think to separate the 20 year old young lady from another country from the accusers and make sure of what’s happening??? SMH
It's also strange the cops wouldn't recognise delusional behaviour as a reason to have her mentally assessed. Isn't it a crime to make a false police report. I know Sabrina was shy, but should they not have at the very least questioned her separately about what the hell was going on.
@@gordonirvine6134oh yeah cos American police are famously helpful and reliable? I see hundreds of cases in America where police negligence is directly responsible for people dying
@@katsieb81 exactly, I find it so weirdly negligent especially considering those same police warned her about making false reports, it's like they didn't care enough to bother and that's disgusting 😞a young woman with a bright future is no more because the police didn't care to followup
I'm very pleased that I listened to this. I am a house manager/cook/PA, for private families who live on private country estates in the UK. When you apply for these types of live in positions, you are required to supply a DBS report so that the employer may see any crime records that you may have. What is actually needed are DBS reports also from the employer or at the very least, be sure to speak with the previous employee. I held two posts briefly where I was lied to and manipulated during interviews and once I moved in I was attacked by certain members of the household, whilst sleeping, when they were drunk or on drugs, I can never be sure which! So, as a warning, be sure to investigate whomever you may go to work for, as the UK has some very bizarre creepy, wealthy people who will do very crazy and strange things to you. Be warned!!
I find Sam disgusting not only the literal definition of a simp but he searches for a technical error meaning he is self aware of his guilt but wants to play the system
I think they also forgot to diagnose her with Narcissism. She's very Narcissistic and Sam is very co-dependant. What a sad end for Sophie. May she RIP. A Narcissist can be so evil. Everything they touch, they ruin.
As one of serial freeloaders who is still living at my parent's home on my 30s, I politely reject her from our community. Maybe other community will accept her, but not us.
Yeah those if they hadn’t done what they did they probably would have ended up killing their children at some point down the road. I pray that Sabrina never sees her children again
The last picture of Sophie is so difficult and heartbreaking to look at. Her eyes, face and body posture express her misery and pain so clearly. It’s gut wrenching to look at and infuriating at the same time. I hope that Sophie’s memory will live on through love and that the other 2 pieces of filth’s die with them in prison.
United Kingdom is a very very dangerous country for any foreign woman who lives and works there all alone without any close family members nearby for support. RIP Sophie 💐💐💐
I remember this case . I’ve seen a couple of documentaries about it . Sabrina told mark that she’d had a termination . However when Mark spoke to Sabrina’s brother he said that Sabrina had given birth to a baby boy in Paris. Her brother said that the boy lived with their mother in Paris . Mark has tried to get paternity tests . He said that if it’s his son, he wants to raise him . Sophie went through unspeakable torture . She used to chat to her neighbours . They saw Sophie was extremely thin and looked unhappy but they didn’t try to enquire why . They did nothing ! However that’s how it is in London , especially in Wimbledon .
The irony that Sabrina was paranoid Sophie knew Mark, when he never would learn about her until after her death, so he keeps her with him forever now, someone he would never have known otherwise, while Sabrina rots in prison with her ever growing insanity.
It's the UK. She'll probably be back out by the end of next week with good behaviour. Seriously tho, this one got me heated.. I hope they throw away Sabrina's keys. RIP Sophie 🙏🏼😔
Please don't mistake plain old evil for "insanity." Sabrina is NOT insane, she's just REALLY, REALLY MEAN. There's a world of difference! I personally struggle with insanity. The number of people I have physically harmed so far is zero, & I'm planning to keep it that way. I try not to emotionally hurt anyone, either, but the complexities of human relationships are such that I'm always hurting people's feelings by accident -- however, I recognize my culpability in this & hold myself accountable. I apologize & try to make amends & if anyone gets so hurt that they no longer want to have anything to do with me, I realize that it's their right to make that choice & I leave them alone forthwith. Sabrina made her bed & she should have to sleep in it -- no matter whether or not she was abused at any point herself, she CHOSE to behave as she did & she's NOT the victim of this story. I also hope she rots in prison, but the woman, though almost entirely not right in the head, is SANE.
"while Sabrina rots in prison with her ever growing insanity", i like the way you said that, "her ever growing insanity".......yes, unfortunately it appears people like that just get worse exponentially, a constant doubling of her symptoms confined within prison walls would indeed make her worse by the day. And as Adrian said, her not being able to cope with prison life is precisely the point of a prison sentence. Poor Sophie, what suffering, how that must torment her family And of course Sabrina is in no way a victim, but is most definitely insane, she is mad, all of her very own doing
Being a nanny is the most underpaid yet very risky job, Rip Sophie. When things get extreme people need to secretly run away and seek help when they are out in a safer place.
The Met police have failed her! How on earth could she be man-handled into a police station by her live-in employers and accused of a stupidly ridiculous crime, and then allow the victim to go home with her abusive accusers is downright insane!
The law with regards to things like these has always been a bad. If Sophie had gone to them they would have simply sent her away with 'if it happens again then come back and report it' . The police would only arrest Sabrina if she really hurt Sophie in a way that Sophie had to go to hospital. Also if Sabrina is a female so police tend to look lightly at females who do abuse.
@@orinorio1 I don't think this is a matter of law changes. This is a matter of safeguarding policy awareness, and I can't imagine that the police don't have safeguarding policy. Safeguarding policy applies to all employees, should we be aware of data that puts people at risk we have to report it, regardless of the sensitivity of that data. Surely it's the same for the police?
Am not surprised. The police, in general, are nothing but useless goons who just want to strut about feeling cool. This goes for all policemen/women from any country in this world!
People like Sabrina do not come to the world to pursue happiness, but to make sure that nobody else finds it. Sabrina and Sam do not deserve to experience joy or peace ever again in their already miserable lives.
This case has always haunted me. It’s just so disgusting and awful. Sabrina is truly rotten to the core. I can’t imagine the confusion and fear Sophie went through. It’s just heartbreaking. Sam is just as despicable.
Sabrina (the middle age witch) and her pathetic stooge Sam should spend the rest of their lives behind bars. I’d go as far as to say solitary confinement is almost too good for these evil narcissists. My heart goes out to Sophie’s family and friends. Such a horrendous and tragic loss of a beautiful soul.
Something similar happened to me but I managed to run away. But I tell you - being abused while alone in a foreign country with nobody to turn to for help is the most horryfing thing. Even after 10 years I almost had a breakdown just hearing about this case. Poor poor girl I can imagine what she went through... 😢❤
Halfway through the video, I realized that I had heard of this case. The torture they threw on that poor girl was so unbelievable....sorry I couldn't listen to the rest of the video. Rest in peace Sophie
"People in this situation often feel too hopeless to ask for help." This is heartbreaking. I believe the poloce didn't ask about her wellbeing because of the address and presentation of station Sabrina and Sam presented. Coersive controll is a difficult thing to express. So sad.
This is one of the cases that is burned in my mind. I identify with Sophie. I have friends who were au pairs in London. This could have been any young girl from Europe in the nineties. I feel so sad and furious for Sophie, and sick when I imagine what she suffered at the hands of those monsters. Rest in peace Sophie, we will not forget you! ❤
Congratulations. You aren't severely mentally ill. Hope it stays that way. I went a little insane a few years ago - even hearing voices - and it's pretty awful, especially since you can't recognize the extent of it until you are better.
I'm extremly sorry Sophie Lionnet. as a father myself this history touched me in very deep way and i really feel devastated for not doing nothing even as i'm not from that country or knew anyone or the history itself. still i'm so sorry for Sophie and i really hope she found peace .
I’ve heard this case previously, but didn’t realize until I saw Sophie’s photo. I didn’t recognize Sabrina at all. Sam and especially Sabrina deserve to be reconnected only in their prison cell blocks.
I have seen this on some other show that went into much more details. Unbelievable that neighbors never reported them. It was so sad. These two should have got the death penalty if it was on the table. It was despicable.
@@cdes1776 She was a grown woman who had contact with her family and the police. At the end of the day, only you can save yourself. Victim of abuse? Report it to the police. Language barrier? Ask for a translator or use Google translate. Stolen passport? Again report it to the police and take the report to the consulate to get a replacement. Accountability really is our kryptonite isn't it?
@@ArshesNei8 I think you might be downplaying how they treated her and how much control they had over her. She had no freedom and worked 70 hours/week. We can't put ourselves in her shoes.
seriosuly the way you tell the story and voice is the most comforting amongst other true crimes story teller- sometimes I got annoyed by how fast they talk/ read script and intonations- I’d rather not to finish
I had an ex that would make stuff up to tell people. She wasn’t crazy to the point Sabrina was though. She told a bunch of people that I used to beat her when we dated. Everyone that knew me called her out on it and said that never happened because they knew the kind of person I am. Even her best friend since childhood called her out on it and said there’s no way that actually happened. Her best friend actually stopped talking to her and she has since become one of my best friends. The problem was the people that didn’t know me would believe her so I had some people around town thinking I was a scumbag. It sucks having people who don’t know you viewing you as a woman beater because of a lie.
I am so sorry you had to go through that. My older sister was beat by her ex (i was living with them and saw the bruises) and no one in his family believd her. She left and he lied that she was cheating and that their son was probably not his. And those assholes believed him until a dna test was done. And they saw him no longer put effort for his son.
this is one of the most tragic cases, Sophie just wanted more for herself, and the incredible amounts of actual torture and horrors she was subjected to breaks my heart. I hope and pray that both of these monsters get every ounce of what's coming to them for what they did to her. ugh, sickening
i'm tearing up, from shopie fate, and from the hotline you provide, that could safe someone life in the future. and the possibility that sophie though, that the police can't help her.
There needs to be a law to protect young women like Sophie. This should have never happened - I mean dragging her to police station for a crazy paranoid reason should have been a red flag. RIP beautiful Sophie.
I just hate these cases where there was a window of opportunity for the victim to escape, but they waited a little bit too long and then they were trapped forever. RIP Sophie 🙏🏼🌹🕯️
It is not easy... I never thought I would be in an abusive situation... but there I was... these people trap you... the abuse happens when they know they have you under their control... these are very manipulative people... sometimes circumstances are bad...
This is a bad analogy, but may help explain why Sofie didnt tell someone at the police station.... Until you have truly experienced an anxiety attack, you have absolutely no idea how debilitating they truly are. I suspect Sofie felt something much worse in that moment. ❤
Sophie should have gone to the police immediately when they took her passport etc. away. Why did she even go on working when they did not stick to the agreements? This is totally beyond me. RIP SOPHIE 🙏
@@saymyname2417 I guess she didn't trust the Police... I come from India and police here is shit... so I stayed in an abusive relationship till I could escape...
I won't be able to sleep tonight after watching this. My heart breaks for Sophie. I'm absolutely devastated. The photo of her frail state will haunt me for a long time. This really breaks my heart.
I’m not kidding when I say this is the only case I’ve ever seen that genuinely made me feel sick to my stomach. I hope she’s in a much better place now and I cannot comprehend how someone can do that to a human being, especially one barely beginning their life
Adrian, Thanks for your sharing, I love to enjoy my hour lunch listening to your channel. Keep it up and will support you from other side of the world, Hong Kong👍
There are 2 cases in the USA that I would love for you to feature. One is Florida's Michael Dunn who shot and killed someone due to loud music at a gas station and the other is a woman called Lindsay Haugen who strangled her boyfriend with her bare hands as she said he wished to die. Both interesting cases and I think both would benefit from your input. Love your videos Adrian.
I remember this coming up on the news! So so sad her life was so cruelly cut short so young 😢 R.I.P. beautiful Sophie 🙏🏻❤️ and I hope the perpetrators rot in hell
I'm from Denmark, and I would love if you would consider covering the 'Field's shooting' that happened here in Denmark last year. The case really points out many relevant things, that I think should be given more attention.
I’ve listened to probably hundreds of different cases that have taken place all around the world on different channels. Truth be told, I’ve probably ,like most , have become desensitized to some of the horrors described in these “stories.” However, this case actually brought tears. To see the photos of her smiling at the beginning of it all to the final picture taken of her, undoubtedly while being mocked and tortured by this couple, absolutely heartbreaking. If ever the death penalty was justified, this case would be it.
This case always makes me cry. I moved to the UK in 2009 from France and the first thing I did was to be an au pair. I remember hearing about the case and being very shocked. It feels really close to home. I felt a deep connection with Sophie, she seemed such a sweet soul. One of the most heartbreaking cases I know
The Au Pair agency should have intervened and investigated Sophie's situation - how did they miss this? Or did they hire her without an agency? Which is just horrendous. What a horrible, tragic loss of Sophie. RIP
Mental Illness and addiction are NO EXCUSE for VIOLENCE! I have bipolar, aspergers, depression, ptsd, panic disorder, chronic pain , and I know there's no good excuse for violence!
This was so hard to listen to how could 2 people be so bloody cruel. I can’t stop thinking about Sophie how she suffered in silence my heart goes out to her family and I hope those monsters rot in jail R..I..P beautiful Sophie ❤
What I love about Adrian's channel is that even his voice is so soothing and kind to listen to that he makes even the most horrible stuff sound better. Plus the coffee intro.
This Hass to be one of the worst crimes I have ever heard of obviously aside from the horrific child crimes, but I mean just the delusion in the mania of this woman is just so outrageous. It’s you couldn’t even write this in a movie.
I tried to get my friend to break up with her possessive boyfriend, she wouldn’t listen, she “loves him”. She unadded me on things and we haven’t spoken in over a week. I’m hurt that she wants to continue to be used.
My heart breaks for Sophie’s loved ones. Especially her Mother. Life in prison is too good for These 2 evil minions. I think in a strange way Sophie’s death doesn’t have to be for nothing, though. In a way, this horrific loss has spared the children she cared for from a life of abuses at the hands of their deranged mother and minion father. Rest in peace dear beautiful Sophie.
When Sabrina dragged Sophie to the station and accused her of being theif, spy, etc police didn't bother to check that deranged Sabrina has a habit of filing false complaints and Sophie shud hv left just as Mark did
RIP Sophie 🙏❤️ That these evil monsters did such a despicable act is horrific. That they did all this with the two children in the home is unbelievable & abusive
Very very sad. Sophie did NOT deserve this abuse . I hope they never get out of prison. They have to pay for what they did to Sophie. May God rest Sophie's soul
Adrian mentioned that during the trial there were others who were aware of the abuse Sophie was suffering: I think the ‘others’ that knew of Sophie’s treatment by the mouth breathers known as Sabrina and Sam, should also accept some responsibility for what happened to Sophie. How can you turn your back on someone being treated so inhumanely? Just leads me to question their morals too.
So close to going back home to safety, yet so far. If only she had got on that plane. Absolutely awful. How can anyone commit such horrific actions to another being.
It took me to about half way through that i recognised this case. This case haunted me. It is horrific and they tortured this poor girl, and my heart broke for her. Poor Sophie she deserved better.
I wonder if Mark finally got a dna test result of the child and what the outcome of that was, would be nice to know that Sabrina's kids went on to have a happy well looked after life instead of the trauma of the care system
Of all the people for this poor woman to meet and go to work for... she has to meet these two absolute monsters..I just can't understand why these things happen.
