Four guys come together to create a new song..... and this happened, we are just glad it happened every time they got together. Each one uniquely different, yet recognizable by the distictive "Flavor" each member has.
After this comes the EXTRAORDINARY three-song closer. I've been listening to "Physical Graffiti" for nearly 50 years and it remains my favorite Led Zeppelin album. Additionally, it TOWERS over ALL other infamous double-albums: The Beatles "White Album" - Prince "1999" - Prince "Sign O' The Times" - Jane's Addiction "Ritual De Lo Habitual" - The Who's "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia" - KISS "Alive!".....ALL of them drop to their knees before the MAGNIFICENCE of Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti". "Physical Graffiti" is simply THE GREATEST double album every created. THE END
This entire album shows the diversity of LZ. As I've said before, this record lived on my turntable. I'm hoping you'll give Emerson, Lake, and Palmer some more air time!!! I've always ranked: LZ, PF, ELP as the most diverse and talented.
Hadn't heard this one in awhile - takes me right back to the late 70's and the dominance of LZ. A banger indeed. Thanks, and keep up the good reactions.
One of my fav songs off this album!! My first rock album as a teen many years ago !!! Trampled under foot awesome ! Another GOAT John Bonham, RIP !! Gone way too soon!! 😢. Robert Plant 🔥
Jimmy Page was a master at creating tension, the entire first minute of the song is full of unresolved chords… everything feels like it’s headed for a crash, but then 1:44 …a cascade of notes that resolves all the tension with surgical precision. It’s so good that I believe it is the only chorus to any Zeppelin song that doesn’t even need lyrics…😮
I went to see Robert Plant & Jimmy Page in the 90's with a few friends. We thought it was going to be an acoustic show since it was billed as "Plant and Page". We were fine with that since we were all Zeppelin fans. We went crazy when we found out they had a full band. They opened the show with this song. Incredible night.
