This is single handedly the most beneficial video I’ve ever watched on youtube..great video I’m gonna get the book and God bless anyone reading this in life
I've had a career as an artist and I think I've overcome resistance by simply being inspired to make art. I've enjoyed the process so much there wasn't that much temptation to do things like watch too much TV etc. As your work improves so does self confidence so there's no reason not to overcome the resistance towards fear of putting your work out there. I was lucky--I've liked drawing since I was five years old.
Then you are incredibly lucky. Have you ever felt at any point that once your passion became your profession, that your desire to create diminished in any way?
@@hakametal I can get burned out from time to time but that's about it. Some projects I work on are more interesting than others too. But actually overall, the better I get at my craft the less frustrating it is and easier to enjoy. I know when I was younger there were times where it was so frustrating because the art didn't look how I wanted it. I really do feel if you are truly inspired you won't get bored in your pursuits. That doesn't mean there won't be times where it is difficult.
Hello there! I relate a lot to your comment and I would like to share my latest video with you, where I talk about my top 10 conclusions about the War of Art. Thought it may interest you, given that my videos are all about creativity, personal growth and self-help. Thank you for your time! How do you overcome the initial hurdle when you’re starting out, and your work is not that great yet? Is it just sheer passion? Do you ever question whether this is what you were meant to do?
@@sentientbeans For me personally, yes, I think it is the pure interest- partially in drawing itself and partially for the subject matter. Don't be worried too much about comparing your work to others or to a really high standard in the beginning. If you are struggling, watch tutorials or take classes on the core fundamentals. That will make you improve faster than just trying on your own, esp if you aren't seeing results fast as you would like. Aside from that just try to have some art sessions just for fun too!
Awesome!!!! I tried listening to podcasts and had to sift through too much and the language. You've covered the core without a single cuss word! I'm so impressed and thankful. This makes so much sense.
Thanks for the summary. I overcome resistance by sitting through the time I blocked for my creative project. If the fear is strong, I sit through the fear. It goes away relatively fast.
This was an awesome book. I wanted to read it again, but you covered it in 6 minutes. Maybe reading it again would've been part of the resistance. You just saved me some time to do the work. Great video.
I am so delighted that I just discovered your channel! I am so grateful for this discovery 😄 thank you for the tremendous effort you put into your videos.
Wow Nathan I'm hooked on your channel, you have great story telling and animation skills. I looked online to learn more about you, but couldn't find much. I'm interested in learning about the tools that you are using for animation, they are so much more interesting than a powerpoint presentation. I wish you could share with us a little bit more about your secrets. Thanks for putting this together, I'm a business man without enough time to read all the books that I want. I find these summaries to be very enlightening. I purchased the productivity game pdf compilation and I print out each one that I find particularly interesting.
Loved this book... Stumbled upon it in my collection about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, fell back into my default. Need to revisit it. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for your contribution to us. It teaches and inspires! The style, quality and creativity of your channel's summaries distinguish it from other similar offerings.
Dear People, I implore you, read the book yourself. This does little to really convey the messages in this book. I watched this very video a few years ago. Yesterday I decided to buy the audiobook and what i got out of it has changed the way I think.🙏🏾♥️
Good summary. Still reading or listening to the full book is good for important details and significant points -> Also Recommend: " *Can't Hurt Me* " by David Goggins and " *Flow* " by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
There's a big flaw in this theory: "the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference". You might be resisting something because you genuinely hate it but you're trying to force yourself to do it either for a job or because it's a bad faith assumption that you "should" be doing it. Definitely be careful with telling the difference between "love because not indifferent" and "hate".
If you had a course on the process you use to make your videos from the very beginning till the end and it cost $50 or less i would buy it. (even if it was just you talking 45 minutes to your cellphone camera)
I feel like some things get mixed up a bit here. Resistance and fear or anxiety are not the same things and can even have nothing to do with each other. I believe it's important to overcome resistance, but there's also moments when it's there for a valid reason and might be a message to actually keep us from doing something that would hurt us. And at the same time just because we don't feel resistance towards soemething doesn't mean it's not valuable or worth aspiring to. I think it's just a bit more complex than that.
You need to read the book (or download the audio book). Pressfield goes into the relationship between all of these things, how the ego is naturally designed to protect us from reality, the conscious self versus the unconscious self, and understanding where creation comes from. This summary is only a summary. You may not believe resistance and fear/anxiety are the same thing... but they are deeply related to each other.
Great video. Not entirely true that all humans are creative (at least to an extent where creative production is possible), but I think resistance is not limited to creative endeavors only. Love the summaries, keep it up!:)
'How to talk about following Jesus, without mentioning His Name' ;) I can tell you every wisdom that is in this video is in the Bible. Plus you get more in the Bible :)
I got the idea of the video, but the Hitler example is beyond senseless. There is just so much more into consider regarding his failure as an artist, his political career, the start of WW2. It ruins the entire message of the video, because you use an example you dont really understand.
