What really scares me is that the harvesters are shaped as spiders, puts a sense in me that the Martians knew sooo many things about us, since many people are afraid of spiders. For the first time this was the first war of the worlds series that I was actually scared of, the sounds, the deafening screams, and everyone in a panic. It really shook me!
:) Thanks Kaleb. It shouldn't really please me to hear I'm scaring people a bit, but if it's touching the notes I'm aiming for then that pleases me no end lol. Thanks for sharing :D
@@Iknowwhoateallthedonutsfromthe You get a gold star :) p.s. Did you know that your name doesn't show up as "I know who ate all the donuts from the Black Mesa " but instead it just says "user-rv3hh7le5b"... I guess your name is too long for RU-vid to display.
You truly have caught the horror of the book and the darkness of the story. I really don't think I have ever seen WOTW done so well. Amazing work. Can't wait to see more. 👏
What horror? You already know that the main character survived since the first chapter and just a few chapters latter it is said that the marties lost the war.
@@rapatacush3 I'd say the horror is in the broader scale of the story. For a book to get written by a narrator, they obviously have to be one of the few survivors who witness it all. But for everyone else, it's kind of horrific and fatal. Non of the big productions look much beyond the main character and the devastation that must be going on, but it is going on. On top of that, you have total societal collapse. Even after the Martians die, the world has been changed irrevocably, and the horrors of desperation are yet another story to tell. I'd say it's pretty dark and horrific. Though, that said, I'd agree with you that the fall of the Martians in the book (and subsequent versions) happens way too quickly and kind of removes a lot of the tension. The overall concept is horrific, it's that side of the story I'm trying to explore. I do understand your point of view of course, but I think it all depends on how you read/imagine the story and whether you consider the broader implications of what happens. There can be many takes on the story for sure.
@@waroftheworlds1934 maybe in Wells' times. But for us? Well we have already witnessed such things several times. Big, nearly unstoppable machines laying waste, chemicals weapons, exodus trying to escape a conflict, charred corpses littering the streets, ill-equiped men trying to stop a stronger enemy. Europe was full of that like 80 years ago. Now i think about it, maybe the germans probably got the blitzkrieg concept from the book.
@@rapatacush3 that's the 'PLOT' ! I'm not talking about the plot, I'm talking about the atmosphere the horror the humans must feel. Go back to school, if you ever went to one :-)
Oh my god, this is brilliant. The way the filming is done to give you enough to know what is happening and leave out enough for you to fill the blanks in. The herding of the people and their entrapment at the end, terrifying! So worth the wait!!
Thanks Chris! Really glad you're enjoying the approach. I was a little worried before posting that people wouldn't understand what is going on and that maybe I hadn't been clear enough, but I guess i got the balance right in the end. Cheers for watching and more is on the way (as always!)
lol. Yes it's pretty bleak! I wasn't sure if it was too bleak when putting it out, but it's the story. Glad you saw it under more friendly conditions :D
It really was a masterstroke to set this in the 1930's. That period for years has been used to evoke a sense comforting security. A cosy interlude between Wars. Images of listening to the wireless by the fireside, pipe smoking Dads, grimy streets, jumpers for goalposts etc etc. It's almost become a cliché in dramas and TV commercials. Watching this episode, you can almost smell the coal smoke. To drop malevolent extraterrestrials into the middle of a folk memory is genius. Next episode please!
Yes a funny period in time. It has those rose tinted glasses on it, but it was also the great depression. The wealth divide was pretty extreme... but that isn't really talked about much. It's all art deco and fine living in the memory. From the lower classes point of view after going through WW1, I expect this is the icing on the cake! It's been a real education doing this series I have to say. It can be really hard to get a solid picture of life back then. It was before TV and radio only just got going. Photos can be hard to find of specifics too. I imagine a lot of knowledge and records were lost in the 2nd World War. Anyways, very glad you like the setting. I kind of wish I'd set it injected into the 40's from a military point of view. 1934/35 were just on the cusp of new war machines being designed and built. The Martians certainly knew when to strike, because humanity really isn't up to it. Thanks for the comment and thoughts :) New episode is ALWAYS on the way... :D
In the US it was The Great Depression, and a fear of return to war even back in 1934. I don't know if people in the UK back then, termed it The Great Depression? A lookup for me here.
@@mortimerhasbeengud2834 I think people in Britain were certainly going through a similar depression as the US in the 30s from everything I've read. Yeah, a lot was already going on in the build up to 1939 for sure. Sorry for a slow reply, youtube doesn't notify me of replies.
@@waroftheworlds1934 NP 1934. It just never seemed to this yank, that poverty levels seemed so dire as here. Your big strike was not in the 30's but in 1926, during prosperity. Filmwise, What would be slightly, humorous would be a peace faction among the Martians, calling for a halt on this wasteful earth conquest, and instead a civil war amongst the Martians, even on earth! Splendid 'Cinema' 1934. Please carry on.
@@mortimerhasbeengud2834 Oh, I think you are right. I think The US had it the worst. But there were stories from the 30s in the UK, where people would take part in dancing competitions just to get food, and they'd dance for 24 hours straight (or more!) and it was last couple standing who won. So they had (starving) people dancing and collapsing, and I think some died doing it. That sounds pretty desperate, and I think about that a fair bit given the WotWs setting. I almost feel guilty sending the Martians in! I've no idea how wide spread the depression was, but I think it's probably fair to say it heavily affected the west as a whole. But, I'm not an expert. The 30s are (annoyingly for me) quite difficult to gather information on.
I can't believe I've never heard of this channel before now. The 1930s is the _perfect_ time period to adapt TWOTW from its original early-1900s setting IMO; just "modern" enough to be relatively familiar, but still not so technologically advanced as now, and of course it was when the Orson Welles broadcast was aired. Solid work! I believe I shall be keeping an eye on this. 👍
Thank you :) Great to have you onboard! It's actually really hard to advertise a channel without big bucks. Best I have is word of mouth or youtube suggestions. Fingers crossed someone with a larger account might give me a shout out one day. until then, I'll just keep on plugging on. Really glad you like the setting. There's actually a reason it's set in the 30s, and this series heritage is actually from the radio play. If you find the special features video of the bomber run (on my channel), it explains it all in the description. Too much to repeat here :) Anyways, very very glad you are enjoying, and thanks for watching! See you on the next one!
Ah excellently done! Dramatic and terrifying! Wonderful handling machine design and great to see all the machines working together amplifying the chaos. Things are looking pretty dire for humanity. Keen to see what happens next. Keep it up!
Thanks red, and good to see you! Yeah, it's fun to get them all working together, and now that they are fully revealed we can have some proper fun with them. It took a long while to get my head around animating a 5 legged machine, and all those extra limbs add a lot of time. Thankfully now I have some solid foundation animations that I can build on. A lot of ground work for this one that will hopefully pay off in the future, so all good! Thanks again!
very good idea to use the howl of the tripods from Jeff Wayne's version of War of the Worlds for the howl of the handling machines, that howl is terrifying and helps create that atmosphere.
Cheers. Yes the sound mix for this one was quite a difficult one. So much going on it becomes a bit of a soup. The handling machine sound was the last bit to be added because I couldn't decide on what would fit it best, but I settled on what you hear and it felt right. Though it's not from Jeff Waynes version, but if it reminiscent of it, then that is perfectly fine with me! Thank you :)
I just found this series a couple weeks ago and I must say, this is my favorite adaptation of The war of the worlds by far! Something I particularly like about this episode is how the martians were publicly executing people. Its drives home the fact that the martians are intelligent and trying to strike fear in the humans.
Absolutely they are. The way I'm looking at it, is if the Martians were studying us so intently, they'll have a pretty good idea of how to get reactions out of us and control people. Really glad you're enjoying it so far! Many more episodes to come!
Having done the Stourport Ring by canal boat, that opening is amazing! Thanks for another great animation and I hope you'll think about entering these into short film competitions!
Thanks Cosmic. I did wonder as I made it how someone familiar with the canals would find it :) Now I know! I actually did some work for British Waterways about 20 years ago, for an interactive learning tool. And so the opening shot is actually partially incorporating part of that very old model. I repurposed it and upgraded it of course, but side by side you can see they are fundamentally the same. I thought it'd be fun to incorporate some old work. I had to do a lot of research for that project I can tell you, and so I became quite familiar with the feel of the canals. I've had a couple of trips on the canals too which were great. I sometimes consider living on the canals. Big change though! So anyways, yes glad you liked! Also, I've never thought about entering them into film competitions. I'll have to have a think on that and look around. It's a good idea, thank you! Have a great weekend!
The fact that the Martian machines are based on spiders and other bugs and stuff is really cool and scary Keep up the good work! Excited to see whats next
Not since The Great Martain War (1913- 1917) has WOTW been captured so beautifully. Cracking work. Sat thought the whole thing creeped out. Perfect for this Halloween.
That was really lovely to read, thank you ever so much! And yes, I'd never thought of it being fit for Halloween, but I suppose it is! I forget how much horror I put into it in terms of atmosphere, because when you're making it, you get so used to seeing it, that you lose sight of how fresh eyes see it all. SO very glad to hear it's hitting the spot! Thank you again :)
This visual and soundscape is working from our subconscious. You have tapped into the half - remembered forms of all our nightmares. I find this deeply unsettling. It is quite brilliant.
Cheers :) Honestly, the whole production seems to come together in a very dream like way. It often feels like it has a life of it's own and I'm just kind of capturing it somehow. It's a very hard thing to convey. So long as it works, and people are enjoying it, then I certainly won't be changing the approach!
i recently found a book that includes three H.G. wells stories that i LOVED when i was like, 6 years old recently, i've gotten back into the WOTW. this is amazing man, keep up the good work!
:D Frank! Thanks my friend. Last time I uploaded, you were just a day into your London trip. Time goes way way waaaay too quick. Good to see you and hopefully catch up soon, until then, as you say... good magic! Oh and thanks for watching too!
Hehe, you managed to get the sound into letters rather well! I'm not sure I could have done it. Really glad you have enjoyed it so far! It's funny, but the sound mix just seems to manifest itself. I kind of sling things in there, and it takes on a life of it's own. I mean, it's not random, and I obviously edit, but there is an element of just hearing sounds that interest me, and dropping them in to see if it adds to the mood. For sure worked with the handling machines. TY :)
It's 0400 here in *The Corn Zone* (Iowa USA) and I've just discovered - and instantly subscribed to - this gem of a channel. What could be a better surprise for a lifelong Wells enthusiast? Nothing, actually. Regards, Kev PS. I could continue with a list of superlatives but they're self-evident. What a delight this series is . . . -K.
Well, thank you very much Kevin :) To please a big fan of Wells is the best thing I can hear in a day. Really glad you're enjoying it. A new one is in the works, but it's a very time consuming one, but its starting to take form now. Fingers crossed you wont have to wait too long for it to appear. I just don't want to compromise on quality and rush them out. Anyways, thank you again, very much. :)
And I appreciate your patience, thanks BBY and good to see ya. The real problem I have, is that I'll be mid production and have a really great idea, start work on it, and then realise that it should really be it's own video, and then have to go back to what I was doing. It's good because I have other cool videos waiting to complete, but it's bad because it can cause delays. I'm having to take a "when it's done" approach as a whole. The whole Martian cages bit at the end had a totally different look originally, but i decided to start over from scratch because i wasn't happy with how it looked or worked. No one tells you before you start working on something like this that you're going to have to come up with practical technology for aliens. Absolute nightmare :) Love it of course.
Man i haven't watched you for months its good to see the fact flying machines and handling machines are recently implemented! But im still wondering. What are the things that fall off the flying machine?
Ello again. Glad you're liking the progression! Well, the Martian spears as I kind of nickname them in my own head, are... well, we should start to find out in future videos! But to give an insight, they are kind of cages. But there other aspects to them. Im at a crossroads with where I go with them, and it will depend upon how the story unfolds. BUt without doubt I will be doing more with them in the future, and it will make sense in time!
Thanks Glory! The spiders are called Handling machines in the book, and I've tried to capture the description from there. Somewhere between a crab and a spider, seeming more alive than a machine. The film versions didn't add them for some reason. Glad you liked!
Hey, I have a question,@@waroftheworlds1934, What did the machine do to the person at 2:41 ? I saw him dead at the other scene, but what did it do to him earlier?
@@helisisl Well, the Handling machine is manned by... martianed by a Martian, and it wanted to look at a human, as it was the first time it'd looked at one up close. The Martian doesn't care that it "broke" one of them, as there are plenty about. So it grabbed one, it had a look, then threw the body aside and carried on with it's mission. The Handling machine is extremely strong, and people aren't. I think saying or showing what happened to the man is a bit graphic and slightly too harrowing. But stretched and snapped is probably what happened. His legs and arms bend in unnatural directions when slumped on the floor. The key part though, is that the man was tossed aside and the Martian didn't care. It's possible the man isn't even dead, but certainly passed out/in a coma and left to die. But he wasn't going anywhere. It's kind of dark. I did consider showing more, and had thoughts about the machine experimenting on the man a bit, but I felt that seeing the man left for dead said plenty enough, and the imagination can fill the rest.
Absolutely awesome 👍 more action, more creatures. Going in the right direction. Now all you need is to make them a little longer. Really enjoy them a lot. Thanks 👍👍
Thank you very much! :) As for length, we shall see. I never want to bloat them too much. When I get to the end of it all, I'll be editing together into a full film version. So see it as a film that is being made before you, one where you probably see more than might end up in the big final edit. I'd love to do longer videos though, but they'd become more and more spaced out. To keep momentum up on my end, i need to keep them reasonably regular. Anyways, we'll see. Some of them will be longer for sure.
@@waroftheworlds1934 They are all great, but this one really was very exciting to watch. Lots of action and lots of creatures too. Thanks, I really enjoyed it.
Thanks Eagle. Yeah I've tried to give them a cohesive styling and make them sit together instead of being too cliche in making them all look the same but just with different appendages. I try to let the function dictate the design as much as I can. Really glad you like :D
I like how deliberately vague this is all kept, so you can't tell what is going on, how things happen, or moreover, why, just some overt details with you left to draw some conclusions. Keep it up!
Oh hi Salvo :) Really glad you think so! Thank you! Though I promise not to take so long for the next one! It was starting to make me quite anxious with how long it was taking. But I guess sometimes, you've just got to keep plugging away until something is done.
i’ve been halfheartedly keeping up with this series for awhile, but now i feel so bad. I love wotw, and this has to be my favorite thing (other than the musical) to come out of it. Everything about this video, especially the beginning is so great and i will certainly be making more of an effort to keep up with this.
Thank you :) I think as more people started watching, I realised that the story was far more loved than I had expected. And so, as time has gone on, I've broadened the scope of it and put much more time into the episodes. It makes it slower to produce, but I think people want to see something good. I think the Harvest episode is a good indicator of where I am headed. But the more moving pieces you add, the more you have to move them about and make them work and have a logic. But, I'm trying my best. The next episode is currently kicking my ass with how much work it's taken. But I hope it'll be every bit as good as Harvest, and a good follow on. Fingers crossed. I look forward to seeing you at the next vid! :D And thank you again for the lovely comment, great to have you here!
Sorry about that. Funnily, I had a kind of weird dream nightmare with my own flying machines in the sky and some really weird things happening. What's weird is that I didn't even recognise them as my own designs. It was like living in one of my own videos. Freaky! Sorry if it gave you a bad one!
"It was the beginning of the rout of civilisation, of the massacre of mankind." Now we've even got "Great Martian War" vibes with the spiders acting as infantry to the tripods... and I love how the darkness and grey-black colour pallette really adds to the horror of the events!
Cheers. I've not seen The Great Martian War, only a few clips of it. A bit like the BBC version, I've kind of avoided any new influences since starting this, as I don't want to subconsciously mimic them. Though, I imagine all versions cross over at some point. And yes, I've grown to love working in the black n whites, glad you like it too :)
Oh Sasqadia! Thank you so much! I don't know what to say. I'm sending you a massive hug. You've been with me the whole way, and that's always remembered. But the tip is above and beyond. So thank you so much. Deeply. You're awesome. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful Christmas and holiday. Thank you thank you thank you! Much love!
My interpretation of the end bit was that the red weed was used as this strange organism that would pierce its victims with its tendrils and harvest the humans of their blood in a matter of seconds. Which given the earlier bit of the herding gives the martians a striking amount of efficiency. Edit: crazy idea. But what if to incorporate the curate from the novel, you had a scene showing a sermon from a religious fanatic discussing the horrors of the martians being an act of Satan?
You're certainly along the right lines for sure, but not entirely. We'll certainly find out though! As for the curate, I already tried a few videos back to do a curate episode, but I couldn't get it to work properly. It was too early for him as a character. Certainly, we'll be getting a religious (or confused religious) character at some point in the future without doubt :)
This is slowly but surely becoming one of the best adaptations of wotw. But I have two questions. 1) is the heat ray fired from the cockpit of the handling machine where the martian is seating? 2) are the tentacles used to grab Humans organic or mechanical? Another great episode well done!
Thank you :) I'm really glad you're enjoying it. As for answers:- 1) Kind of, it is fired from the left hand side of the Martian cockpit (from the Martians point of view), the small heat ray also has independent rotation, so it isn't bound to the exact orientation of the Handling machine and has a wider range. I'm hoping to do some images at some point, diagrams or cutaways of the machines for a proper nerd out. Now that everyone has kind of seen them, I can start to share a bit more. I'll post something about that when I get to it! There are so many things I'd like to do, but my resources are me, and most time is invested in keeping the videos in production (and trying to pay the bills). 2) The tentacles are mechanical/technological. The Martians are very much intuitively connected to the machines, and the mechanisms on it reflect what is most natural to them, much in the same way as we'd create hands for us to interface with if we were controlling a humanised robot avatar. Tentacles are what the Martians know, and so that is their primary extension. I have a fairly solid(ish) idea of the scope of the Martian technology, and try to keep it in the bounds of what would be probable or possible, but I also have to make some leaps in what might be possible if you were a species several thousand years ahead of humanity. Considering the Martian backstory and reasoning for everything happening is a major rabbit hole that i often have to go down when deciding what is happening. Anyway, I'm going very much off track, but yes, essentially the Handling machine tentacles are very much technology, but that isn't to cancel out the idea that there is a bio-mechanical aspect to the Martian technology. Though I'm ahead of the audience, I have to say that I'm still learning about my Martians as time goes on and questions are raised. Trying to keep them cohesive, reasoned, logical and realistic is a big challenge. Way more info than you asked for, but there you go lol. Well done if you made it to the end! Thanks again!
using spiderlike contraptions to cattle the humans...simply ingenious the work so far has been spectacular and each episode better than the last. can't believe this passed my radar for so long
Thanks Pyro and it's great to have you here! There's much more to come and the work never ceases, so I look forward to seeing you again :) Best wishes!
Oof the spider handling machines actually brings a joy To My face and actually makes me utterly terrified sorry to Not comment before but seeing the harvesting with that one guy was terrifying actually made me shed a tear because how amazing this is GREAT WORK!
What are the handling machines doing to the poor fellow they picked up? They didn’t stab him with anything, so I have to assume they were retrieving the blood from his hands and shins, if so that is a really inefficient manner to do it
I think youtube deleted my comment... Anyway, I congratulate you for this great work, without a doubt one of my favorite chapters, the quality of modeling and animation is amazing! The wait was worth it, good job once again!
I didn't see any notification of an older message, and it isnt held for review or anything. RU-vid are a funny lot. Did you post a link, that will usually do it I think. Anyhoo, glad you re-commented, and thank you very much! Glad it was worth the wait :) Though it was a bit exhausting to make. I've had to stop for a little break before I get the next one into full production, but it's already on the way! See you at the next one!!
i am astonished about your efforts being put into these types of animation! its impressive, horrific (by that i mean from the points of human view, it is terrifying) and pretty cool i know one of the channels who makes the animations based of 1906 war of the worlds but this is also a masterpiece too! infact i actually like the efforts you put into it, everthing is pretty well done, even for a very small channel of only close to 2k subs i was once an animator of roblox studio of making content about size comparsons and things, getting to 500 subs you should get more, you get 1 additional subs! thanks for the content, might aswell bring some popcorn also why is there alot of lasers outside my window?
Thank you Marina that is much appreciated! Yes, the 1906 inspired version is totally it's own thing and i love that he is doing that series. @kevinmccullen1. It's quite unique and it wasn't until a few months after I started mine that I even became aware of it. Interestingly, I think we both use Lightwave to make our different series. Thankfully our tone and approach is totally different and there is plenty of space for us both. Maybe one day we'll do a crossover and make our Tripods fight each other lol (after we've both finished our series anyway!). I'm actually wondering about doing a kind of regular extra video series which is part "behind the scenes" and part chance to talk about War of the Worlds, other versions of it and what I like in them, and highlight other peoples series (like Kevins). Also talk about a few films, directors, animators, animations, artists work and things that have influenced me over the years, and which have shaped this series. I also want to talk about A.I. and art, because I have some deep thoughts on that, and it's an interesting time to be alive. I don't think it would have much of an impact on production of the main series, but it might be a good way to make content more regularly that people would enjoy. Just thoughts right now. Do you think that would be something you might watch? I'd obviously make it as fun and interesting as i could. As for subs, I didn't really expect to get more than a couple of hundred subs when I started and was very glad of them! But 2k in a year, I'll take that happily! And thank you for subbing yourself :) As for the lasers outside the window... I do hope you have a shovel at hand, you may need to start digging in the opposite direction. :D
Thank you Martin :) I will see what I can do. There will lot's of Handling action in future videos. There will be some really cool (if complicated to make ) videos coming up, especially as the invasion has begun in earnest.
Just discovered this series today, and I've subscribed, watched, liked, and now commenting. If it continues up to the point of getting a "Thunderchild scene," can we get HMS Warspite in on this? I know it's not historically accurate as she was being reconstructed from March 1934 to March 1937 but, c'mon!!
Welcome aboard! And thanks for watching, the sub and the likes :) Great to have you here. You might find it funny, that Warspite is precisely the ship I'll be using. There is quite a while to go before I get to that one though. I've done a little work on it, but only preparation. When I get to that one though, I know a lot of people are really wanting to see it, so i'll be putting extra effort into it. Should be pretty epic! Also, yeah, I looked up what was going on with it, but only the most ardent historian would make a big deal out of it. Besides, this is an alternative timeline, so who is to say that such details weren't slightly different in this one!
I think 1934 is the perfect time for a WOTW spinoff to take place in. Still ancient enough to fit the source material, but also giving us technology like sound, cameras, cars, planes ETC. to enhance the storytelling
As always I know ive said this for like every video you make but as always absolutely amazing. I love everything about it I like the Martians push the civiliains too one place to do god knows what. But I do have a question the spires that came from the flying machine. I originally thought you were gonna go the Black Smoke route. was that red weed or? and like whered you come up with that idea its spooky xD I fuggin love it. this whole series it brings out my imagination lol reminds me of when I was a kid and I read the novel and watch the movie for the first time! Keep up the amazing work like OMFG I LOVE IT
Thank you most kindly for your lovely comment :) We'll find out more about the spires (I call them spears) in the future episodes, so i won't spoil it. They kind of grew out of the original idea I had for the Martian cages (which i actually scrapped after a fair amount of work, as they just weren't right). But they kind of grew to be more aligned with where I'm going with the series. So, all I can say is that the spires/spears are derived from the cages, but I'm unsure yet if they have actually replaced that concept and are now in fact something separate and unique, but they will tie into future episodes for sure. Actually, it's going to start getting interesting the more time goes on. I'm going to try and push the concept of the book (and the other versions) as far as I can, but without losing total focus on the themes. Also, I'm really glad it fires the imagination. Exactly what I want to do :) Anyway, the next few videos are all going to be pretty fun and action packed. The next one is already underway, though I did have to take a bit of a break as the Harvest video took way longer than I liked and nearly burnt me out. But back on track now! Again, thank you, for all your comments. They keep the fires burning! ;) Have a great weekend!
@@waroftheworlds1934 YEAHHHH omg duuuude please keep up the good work I'm looking forward too the next video waiting on full anticipation for it I'm okay :3 your doing an amazing job. ALSO YOU HAVE AN AMAZING WEEKEND TOOO YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARD :D
1:08 That sound is fucking nasty. Nothing beats "ULLLLAA" in my opinion but damn that's terrifying. Its a combination of the menace of the 2005 horn and the alien otherworldly "ULLLA"
Glad you like! Though one thing I will tease, is that we haven't even heard the Ulla's and the Allo's yet :) You'll know when you do! Thanks for watching!
I can honestly say THIS Is quite impressive, I remember reading this a few times, and I Must say The tentacled smaller spider drone things, are EXACTLY What I envisioned them to look li,e no to mention the sheer scale of terror of the masses, the one dead body that got caught by the tentacles mirrors PRECISELY How it was described in the book a desiccated man mid 40s slumped forward on a corner, devoid of life and eyes vacant and distant, THE SHEER TERROR YOU CAPTURED Is REMARKABLE YOU HAVE EARNED MY SUBSCRIBTION! MUCH LOVE & SUPPORT From A FULLY Native American Born (Lakota) Jewish Adopted ManChildThing! CHEERS! :D (Also what did you think of the BLACK DEATH FOG From the book? That part horrified more than ANYTHING ELSE In the book, also WHITE BLOOD CELLS WIN AGAIN! XD)
Thank you very much! Really glad I'm capturing the conjured images of the book well :) This video more than any of the others is probably inspired by the book the most in terms of the madness on the ground. It's a really tricky thing to do. Thank you also for the support and subscription :) Great to have you along for the journey! As for the black smoke, we will most certainly be getting to that and I want to explore it fully! The horrors will all unfold!!!
I do have a quick theory in this episode we see that the Martian spiders are not killing that much people only when they get to close then they fire there heat ray. Well what if the Martians do this as a sort of convergence strategy because the best way to round up humans would be to chase them and sometimes shoot them with the heat ray and near the end we see the Martian spiders sort of form a barracked to stop humans from leavening the area.
LOL Your comment had me and this missus laughing. I... CHAD cameraman will survive the Martian onslaught and bring forth tales of the invasion!!! ...from behind a bush as often as possible. And thank you :)
Hey dude, it took a lot of work to get this one out the door. I had to go radio silent! Hope you enjoyed! You'll maybe see that spoiler from a while back!
I've been told by a lot of people it is analog horror, though I didn't actually set out to fit in any particular genre. I'm interested, what would you say separates it from being analog horror in your book? p.s. Thanks for watching :)
I wonder if you were inspired by "NOPE" with the ending? If not, you should totally check that film out, im p sure it gives a reference to Spielberg's War of the Worlds too.
I have seen Nope, but only the once a couple of years ago, and I'll be honest, I can't remember the ending. I remember something about a motorbike, but I'd need to revisit it beyond that! :) The big inspirations for the series are the various War of the Worlds versions, but then a mix of so much sci fi that it's hard to nail down. I kind of fancy doing a bit of a run down of the kind of films/TV/books etc that set the tone for me doing this series at some point. I've no idea if it'd be interesting to anyone or not though. I don't know if Nope had an influence on me or not, I did like it for sure. A very interesting take on UFOs. I have a friend who I met through making this series that absolutely loves it though. They're always sending me gifs and pics of it :)
Thanks Sazan, that means a lot :) And yes, the bacteria... though I might be making it a little slower to do it's work in this version... the invasion might not just grind to a halt. I have some very cool ideas for where we are going with the story. I was always disappointed in other versions that the Martian death all just happens like someone flicking a light switch and then it's all over. It wouldn't happen that way in reality. So expect something a bit more realistic but also grander in scale as we move into future events! I can't wait to get to where I am going!
I'm really trying hard not to skim over the harsher realities of an event like this. Also the almost surreal nature of it all. It would be hard for people to comprehend what is happening and would be in a serious state of shock. There are some really interesting idea's to explore in this world. Thank you for watching, and a new episode is in production. It's a little bit late though as it's very complicated, and far more work than I originally envisaged. But... one foot in front of the other, it'll come together. Cheers!
Thanks! I think it will become clearer in future videos. But essentially (kind of spoiler alert if you read on, but not much) they are deployable cages of sorts. That's kind of the simple version. I wanted to go a little further than simply cages. Think storage.
