I know that this took you FOREVER to do. YOU will go far in life friend. RARELY does anyone finish something like this. The usually start and realize that even a few minutes takes DAYS to make. The sets alone- what pain. Well done friend, well done indeed.
Okay this was actually pretty awesome. For starters, this was a cool adaptation in general. I think it told the original story well, while adding some elements from other adaptations as well. And with some added original ideas as well, I thoroughly enjoyed and was captivated by it. However, I do kind of wish the black smoke was kept and some other stuff like seeing more cylinders fall. And random question, but why did this take place in 2055? It doesn’t seem to affect anything, and I was a bit confused about the reason behind it. I don’t know, lol. I also loved the Martians and their machines. I am not exaggerating when I say that you legitimately made the best Marian design that implements the idea that they designed the Tripods in their own image. I often find this idea stupid, but you pulled it off perfectly. The Tripods themselves were also neat. I liked their design and the build was just fantastic! The same goes for the Handling Machine, both look amazing. My only real gripe with the Martians - specifically the Tripods - is that there’s only one on screen and never more. Which is weird because in basically every version of the story they are in groups. I’m guessing it’s because you couldn’t have made another one, but a bit of simple green screen could have worked. Not a major issue, just a small nitpick, if you could call it that. The stop motion was pretty good too. The walking cycle for the Tripod was janky at times, but every thing else was good, and the cinematography was beautiful in certain moments. I do have some genuine problems with this film though. For one the sound effects are pretty basic for the most part. They are bad necessarily, but they could have been better. The same applies to most of the music too. Another problem I have with it is the end. Personally. I felt like it was a little rushed and didn’t feel as satisfying as it should. But the biggest issue with this movie is the voice acting. Now to be fair, it’s not bad per se, when it’s the actual voice. It’s painfully obvious when you use the pitch shifter or something like that. And because of the pitch change, it ruins the performance of the character. I’d recommend trying to find people to voice act those roles, instead of just changing the pitch if you can. Overall, this was pretty good. Definitely my favorite Lego War of the Worlds Stop Motion on RU-vid. Great job! 7.5/10.
thank you for you feed back it takes place in 2055 because i did not, and still don't have modern military minifigures, only storm troopers. so i thought i might have set in the future so the storm trooper armour can be futuristic military soldiers. I only had one tripod because i do not have enough parts to make more than one, and it was kinda hard to animate a lego tripod that big, because it had a massive head and a body with skinny legs, so it liked to fall over a lot, which is why when it was walking the top of its head is out of frame, because i was holding it up so it would not fall over, if you pause it at the right frame you can actually see my fingers holding it up lol I know that editing and voice acting does seem a bit rushed, but at the time i was still kinda getting on my feet with the complex editing and sound design, and with the voice acting, I will admit was lazy, i had no script and i probably should have gotten friends to help me with voice acting or used an AI voice generator, but this war of the worlds series and movie was a learning experience for me and I am now writing scripts for my brick films. I have written one for the project I'm working on now. its about 26 pages long but thank you for your feedback and i hope to improve voice acting and editing in my future brick films.
I don't know how long you've been doing brickfilms, but taking on War of the Worlds is a pretty ambitious project no matter how long you've been at it! Well done bud, well done!!
