I had no idea this game came to Switch. I went to find it on the eshop and it’s on sale for $2.99 that’s 90% off the list price. That’s a definite no brainer for me. Thanks again for an awesome review. Keep up the great work and epic stache. Haha.
I was very happy to find this was on sale midway through watching the review and picked it up! Told a buddy of mine about it and he bought it too. Thanks for making us both aware of it :)
I purchased this a while back and started playing it recently. It really scratches that D&D itch. Thanks for the review and helping me get it on sale. More than worth what i spent on it. 👈👈😉
@@BudgetGamerChannel Hehe Hey man, hope you've been well. We made a conscious effort as a family to unplug for a few months and then after that the world went nuts. I've been quietly enjoying the videos though, and it's great to see your channel going strong. I'll try to stop being antisocial and engage more. 😂 All the best.
Just bought this game after seeing it on sale on the e shop for like 3 bucks and ofc after watching this helpful review. Thanks! The aesthetic looks very nice thats what caught my eye
I have this on my wishlist like forever waiting for a dirty cheap promo. Having read the book (and all the other FF books) I'm a big fan of this style of game and this particular one seems quite good even when compared to the one released on Nintendo DS a few years back which is also good but different in a lot of aspects (and fetches top dollar nowadays unfortunately). And as always keep delivering good indie reviews!
Thats so cool! I always struggled with reading as a kid, but these kind of books kept me so invested. It was so cool to see a game based on the FF series.
I've owned and played the original book adventures and I loved them back when they were new. They gave me really good adventure feels, although today they are quite dated but still interesting. I really hope this developer adapts the other books in the series, especially since I never understood all the environment descriptions, sometimes it was really tough to imagine how everything looked. Just revisiting these adventure worlds again is a wonderful nostalgia for me and I really hope to see all those books come alive. For now, I'll cherish this game though, and your review helped me decide to actually buy it.
Oh! I just saw it's only 3 dollars! I may just have to add it to my digital collection. This could be really fun. Also, we are still playing Glass Masquerade (first one) and enjoying it a lot.
I clicked fast when I saw this in my sub box! I've been looking at this one as it's on a crazy sale in the UK eshop right now & it looked interesting. My main concern was the combat being annoying with the ability to hit empty squares, but if you can study each enemies combat style I suppose it wouldn't be an issue for long. Great review Dude, I'll most likely be grabbing this one now!
Cool dude. I hope you enjoy it. There are some subtleties in enemy animations that tell you if they intent to attack of move, and each enemy type has an explicit move-set, so after you fight 1, you can do much better the next time you fight the same thing. I thought it was pretty well done. 😎👍
Literally just stumbled upon this. It's so awesome looking. This looks made for me. It was on sale 90% off, so it's not a complete loss for me either way
thanks for the review, man. been on the fence about getting the game but your review sold me. too bad about the loading issues, but i guess as long as the game doesn't crash, it's not a dealbreaker.
I had bought this just a bit before the review went live, and now I've defeated the warlock twice (with Gilfane and Twenty-Three) in a row. The starting section has, indeed, begun feeling repetitive, and knowing the usefulness of certain items begins to dictate the which route to take with the endgame in mind. The two random-generated mazes are the worst of slogs. The enemy patterns are so predictable chains of actions (such as one type constantly alternating between sidestepping and attacking diagonally) that many battles become easy enough to go through without getting hurt at all. I think there might be a bug, too -- the achievements list seems to reset constantly on Switch. But I still intend to keep playing it a lot more; it's been that fun.
Really? I hadnt noticed the achievement resetting. 🤔 The repetition in the usable items is pretty annoying though. It would be neat it each character's quests reset new items and such.
As a further observation, now that I've unlocked all characters I can see and have finished the game with multiple characters: the last three characters (Goblin Scourge) replace the orc entrance with the goblin entrance (with many, many, many goblins). That helps a bit with the repetitive start, and the maze-skipper item helps with the tedious maze.
Great game, I had to completely reset on a dragon fight though because it crashed. I was able to retry the same fight so didn't lose much progress, if anything I think I did better the second time around.
I don't know how to feel about this game because the tactics was fun and I was doing very well until the "no win sandworms" because they are very aggresive and can attack way more than you and that was when a very successful run ended in three deaths in a row. Which was pretty lame. It felt like there literally was not a way to win.
I got this last year. I enjoyed it a lot, but haven't replayed it since. It's a bit of a ball ache to start from the beginning and repeat everything each time you play.
