This was a super heavy heavy heavy ultra metal fest. Maybe the crowd find them too soft for the style of the festival you know not moshpit style of music that many want. Also the weather was too much...very hot. It's a duality... the previous festival in France was more kind of popy festival and for this reason they include MORE and not QOMS that is suited for more heavy festivals. At this point their music is in the middle: it's not too popy for some music festivals like Coachella or Glasto but it's not too heavy for a metal festival. I think the reception of Wacken crowd and the other metal fest in UK where they are booking could be the same kind of cold and not enthusiastic bcoz their music is not metal and here is a bunch of dudes in hopes of moshpits and strong noisy metal that aren't Warning's music. The next festival in Spain called Mad Cool suits perfect for them...is not only pop and is not metal or heavy rock actually is a mess of styles for all people and The Warning is with Avril Lavigne, and bands like BMTH, Royal Blood (their inspiration), Pearl Jam that are similar to their music so the reception of the crowd could be better. Those "all type of music" festivals suits better to TW not the metal fests that is not their music and is strange put them in those very heavy metal festivals.
They were indeed the most 'light' group on sunday and (as far as I could see) the only group with at least one female band member on the 2 main stages. Nevertheless I got the impression that the public was very positive about them. I stood next to a guy who was a fan of Abbath who played just before TW and are a death metal group. I had a chat with him afterwards and he liked the TWA performance a lot and told me that he (although not completely being his cup of tea) respected them very much. I think programming TWA was a nice 'break' in the heavy program of sunday. The day before one of the important acts were Europe who are neither that heavy. I agree with you that the upcoming Madrid festival fits their music style better
Another comment (in Spanish) of a visitor, who beforehand was very sceptical of The Warning acting on this festival, but after seeing them made a complete turnaround: Kiko Marquez Yo era el primer esceptico y hoy 3 niñas de 24, 22 y 19 añitos sin intros, pinturas , parafernalia, solo con una mochila de ilusión, inexperiencia , mucha actitud y ganas de comerse el mundo acaban de sonrojar a la mitad de grupos de este RockFest, simplemente ALUCINANTES!!!!
@@antong65 thanks I believe translates to "I was the first sceptic and today 3 girls of 24, 22 and 19 years old without intros, paintings, paraphernalia, with a backpack of illusion, inexperience, a lot of attitude and desire to eat the world just blushed half of the groups of this RockFest, simply ALUCINANTES!!!!". Basically he is saying they showed up half the acts there.
