The Warning - Live at TEDx (You've Been Warned) REACTION 

Can you imagine, as teenagers, going to another country, performing original music, and speaking in english, your second language. So brave. This was the performance that hooked many of us on The Warning. Thank you for the reaction.

Dany is passion, Dany is hope, Dany is life. Pau is ferocious. Ale is the glue that holds it all together.

This was the first thing I saw on the Warning, and I was hooked. Survive really opened my eyes to an epic performance, these girls rock.

I’ve seen this TedX so much over these last few years, and it still gets me. As far as their artistic journey goes, a big reason they’ve been able to operate on their own terms is, frankly, us. A lot of people - practically more every day - contribute financially to their careers. Patreon gave them the freedom to form a partnership with a major label, rather than just become another cog in that machine. Best example: most initial record deals take a few weeks to iron out between lawyers. In the case of The Warning, it took 7 months. Sure, they wanted the larger platform that Lava provides…but that negotiation made it clear they didn’t NEED them to survive. That’s a critical difference between The Warning and your average aspiring band.

Everytime I watch this, I cry tears of joy. They saved my faith to Rock n’ Roll ❤️ Amazing three sisters 🔥 Best Band in this Universe 🤘🔥❤️🇫🇮

Come on dudes, they're spanish speaking singing in english! Come on dudes! Drummer singing! Come on dudes, they're sisters! Come on dudes, they rock my, yours and theirs rocking world! We are witnessing the best rock in the world when many people though that rock was dead, wrong mf, rock will live 4 ever!!!

I never saw the whole show before now. The talks between songs really showed how much energy they put into their performance. They must really be drained by the end of a full show.

This is probably where many of us got our first taste of The Warning thanks to the RU-vid algorithm gods. Apart from them being so amazingly musically talented, when I look at the ages of each of the girls I can honestly say that at each of those ages I was no where as motivated, as talented, as determined as any of these ladies. I was busy doing the things we "normally" do at those ages, perhaps being normal comes with some setbacks.

It is interesting to see the human sense behind a musician who, beyond earning money from his work, is striving to make himself known, to show his music beyond the monetary benefit that he could achieve. Excellent reaction, great video with a brilliant final conclusion. Greetings

Joy. I’ve seen this many times and that is what I am left with every time. Their JOY at doing what they love. My joy in experiencing their music, their commitment, their passion and their amazing talent. I tear up every time. Even though I am a graphic artist I can completely relate. Their message transcends music to life in general. I loved your daughter’s perspective. I can’t wait to witness her future reactions. She’s incredibly impressive and you must be proud!

Thank you for covering The Warning. it is scary to think that these ladies are only going to keep getting better. Can we also take a minute to think about their song writing skills at this young age? The best is yet to come.

I'm not crying. You're crying.

The girls write all the lyrics to all their songs, including their first EP, escape the mind. They got help from their mom to translate Narcissista to Spanish from English. In this video the girls are Daniela Villarreal(16), guitar; Paulina V.(14), drums, and Alejandra V. (12), bass.

Those sisters are a great example to everybody!

In all the reations and comments I have ever read about this performance, I have never read anyone say anything about the guy in the audience. I think he was a "random guy," a university student, no doubt, checking out the band and thinking, "hey, they're pretty good."

This reminds of how me and my Dad would listen to music together. He had a very eclectic taste and I feel blessed that it rubbed off on me. It is just lovely to see you and your daughters sharing moments like this. She will remember them always!!!!!!!

Both your daughters come accross as very intelligent and eloquent. It would be nice to hear more of their opinions on The Warning songs. Fact is many things must have gone right in their upbringing☺.

Just a few inches below the screen you were viewing, you'll notice the girls ages at this time (very early 2017) were 12, 14 and 16. Also your daughter may be thrilled to know, The Warning do all of this in their second language. Nice review.

The fact that this song was written by such young people ( Daniela (16) Paulina (14) and Alejandra (12) ) is just amazing to me. The MAYDAY EP is *AWESOME*. Choke, Evolve... Just love'em.

Great reaction Katie (hope I spelled your name correctly) and Nathan! I highly recommend going to see them LIVE for their upcoming North American Tour that starts middle of January next month. Their new material is superb. I smile when I see young folks getting inspired by my favorite band The Warning. The Villarreal sisters are amazing songwriters and performers. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and... It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI Century Blood", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "Escape the Mind"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group last fall. They recently decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called Mayday. "Disciple" is my favorite track! The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (civil engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English speaking school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 21, 19 and 17 years old and have already written and arranged #44 original songs all by themselves! The oldest, Dany (Daniela) plays guitar, keyboards, lead vocals on 75% of their songs, backing harmonies. Pau (Paulina) plays drums, keyboards, lead vocals on 25% of their songs, backing harmonies. Ale` (Alejandra) plays bass, keyboards, backing harmonies. The drummer Pau begins writing around 75% of their songs. In her songs, she starts with a concept, then works on chord progressions and basic song structure on piano while adding lyrics. She then brings it before her sisters and together they transpose each individual instrument's part; making changes along the way. They also complete the lyrics together; since Pau may only bring one verse and a chorus. All 3 must unanimously approve of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Nothing is set in stone until it makes it through the gauntlet. Pau has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both Dany and Ale` write equally great songs; just not as many. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. Good luck on your recording venture! Dany wrote the second song herself as a homework assignment when she went to a music college to learn the guitar better. She really missed her family.

I don't know how many times I've seen this TEDx presentation, because of pleasure or seen a reactor's video, but every time I get excited, each time I get excited even more: the maturity to play, at they age, without fear; the way to resolve problems at the moment; the way how they sings without digital "help"; the lyrics... the lyrics... check out the grimace in the face of your daugther after Danny said: "And every day I'll try / To keep my feelings hidden inside..." The power of the message touched some deep inside on she, this is part of The Warning's magic. Some sob... a small drop of salty water wiped away... in my case, I always think that some splinter from Pau's drumstick got into my eye... fortunly, is because of joy, because this girls have dreams and fight for them. Oh the girls did a GoFundMe to fund their first albums plus have a Patreon account. The Warning Army has helped fund them. 👍❣️

The first thing i heard of TW was Money, and i immediately got a feeling for this group. The second thing i watched was this, and i ended up with a smile and went down the rabbithole to find More! Now i am hooked and i listen to them every day. I can´t be without this energy and these amazing talented sisters. I believe that they are never going to let go of the last say when it comes to their music. They are going to be this rolling family band in total control of them selves! They don´t need to give the industry control, they have their fans and they have the know how. And most importantly, they have the drive to succeed!

Ive come back to this reaction many times. Absolutely the best reaction to date on this band. Ive referred many people here. When they eventually signed with Lava/Republic Records they became the first rock band from Mexico to do so. They kept their word and retained full control over content including their wardrobe. Yes! This most likely means that they turned down any signing bonus. I only know of one artist who did that. Jewel. And she was living in her car at the time. She was a guest of Joe Rogan on his podcast. Available here on RU-vid. She goes into detail on her early career. The Warning is a breath of fresh air. Their culture comes through in their music even though they sing mostly in English and with no accent. You can hear it in Danny's guitar licks. Subtle but there. In Survive her guitar work reminded me a little of Cody Canada from CCR (Cross Canadian Ragweed). Keep it up ya'll. Peace!

Really cool reaction and conversation. I think in their case of signing with Lava it's worked out well so far. They negotiated for 7 months before they signed and kept their artistic integrity and rights to their patreon/kickstarter groups. I think Lava did a great job so far keeping to the agreement and opening the doors to a larger marketing campaign. I agree they still sound like The Warning 100% but with some polish, of course as the ladies mature musically and intellectually their music will reflect that as it should with any musician or band. Love their Tedx shows ⚡

I think their second full album Queen Of The Murder Scene is where you see what talented songwriters they are. It's a concept album telling the story of a young girl who loses control of her mind; she becomes obsessed with a guy, stalks him, kidnaps and murders him. Throughout the album she loses more and more control and gives in and embraces her evil side until the end where she decides to take her own life. IMO, the album is a masterpiece that only a few thousand people know about and it was written by teenagers in their second language.

Neat, reactiion, cool that you're introducing TW to a new generation. Yep, FWIW I believe that was the first and only(?) time Pau used the phrase "You have been warned!" |And yet it has entered the lexicon of every TW fan on the planet.

I think Pau was 16 there. She is incredible to watch today in 2022. They are now heading out on their US - Canada tour.

Impresses me is how articulate they are speaking, especially little Ale, who was 12 yrs old here *assuming done in 2017. Trick with them is Dany was born in 2000, so her age is same as last 2 digits of year, eg 2017 she's 17 yrs old. So Pau is 2 yrs younger, 15, Ale's 5 yrs younger 12 yrs old.

I think this TEDx video really is the perfect introduction to The Warning. Yes, what theyve done since then (Queen of the Murder Scene, and their new MAYDAY EP) is very different to the songs they play here from their first album - but thats really the interesting part, in my opinion. Theyre about to release their third album, and theyre barely into their 20s (as of writing, I believe the middle one, Pau, still hasnt turned 20). A lot of bands get formed in high school, around the age of 16-20, meanwhile The Warning put out an album off 13 original songs by the time they were between 13 and 17 years old. And they did it without signing on with a record label. That just doesnt happen very often. Im sure people are a bit tired of hearing that same thing over and over, that theyre so special because of this and that - but I really do think knowing their backstory is important, because it shows that theyve been consistent in their approach to creating music, all the way from the start.

They started playing piano, all three, very young, maybe 5 years old, then choose a second instrument around the age of 8... so you could say that even here they are seasoned musicians...it shows! Being sisters, they are tight, tight. Check out their version of Atlas Arise by Metallica, you'll be amazed!!!
