This is the most subdued I've heard Pau play, and it fits with this stripped back version of the song. But she admits herself she is a heavy hitter, and Pau in full Animal from The Muppets mode is fun to watch. This shows they can play live with no Auto-Tune etc, they are rock stars who are getting the recognition they deserve.

Hell You Call a Dream is about the touring existence. The love for the stage and the energy exchange with an audience mixed with the hell of living in a bus with 15-20 people for an extended period of time and being away from home. I do love these stripped down performances. Dany has done some great midnight performances of covers. Just her, a guitar, and her phone.

Pau said in their second interview with Allison Hagendorf that when they are on tour, she has only two things to do - exist and perform.

They just killed it in an hour set at Wacken Festival.

Hitting the drums hard wouldn’t have worked in this setting. I think there was a perfect blend for this setting, anything more would have taken over and drowned out everything else, including Dany’s voice. Thanks for the reaction

I really liked these stripped back performances!

Speaking of the rigours of touring, Dany sprained her back recently and she said " living pn a bus for s month caused it" maybe it did we dont know for sure but she still came out and performed in Dublin and had to sit in a chair and with one day's rest they went to Wacken and by by then she was a little better and even with the injury they still killed it! ❤👍

Interesting that you say the audience don’t care, they’ve paid for their tickets and just want the performance. I was at the Dublin concert and a couple of days before Paulina had been pretty sick (she couldn’t manage her scream during Evolve) and Dani had pulled a muscle in her neck on the same night. Pretty much everyone around me were concerned for the band’s welfare and saying they’d understand if they took things a bit easier so they’d be well for Wacken as that would be really important for them. As it happened Pau was fine and they put on a superb show, which the band clearly enjoyed as well.

It is an acoustic set after all Joel, loved the reaction....first time they are doing songs from KMF acoustically...understand they literally just practiced this in their hotel room before this intimate private show. Full on talent on display.

If it were more of a planned outing, I believe Pau shoulda brought some brushes with her or (I forget what they are called), the small bamboo stick that are tied together. You can get some good soft drumming with those.

For what is effectively a coffee house performance, this seems to be the a reasonable percussion choice. A Djembe would be another common choice for an acoustical performance, but that is not part of their touring gear.

Speaking of touring and adding in a little turmoil (not necessarily fights) but Dany injured her back while on the second leg of their European tour the last few days. She played sitting down for most of a UK show and the next day they played Wacken Open Air, and Dany fought through it and played standing and moving around, albeit a bit stiff. The crowd loved them and the performance went off without a hitch. Needless to say, the girls killed it.

As a drummer myself, I really liked how Pau treated this version of Qué Más Quieres. That said, I half-agree with your opinion about the "lack of impact" that Pau had during the performance of this song. I've done stuff like this for over 30 years, and there's a certain threshold you need to be aware of when performing acoustically. It's so easy to over do it which, in turn, ruins the stripped back nature of the music. Yes, Pau could've maybe added a bit more "flare" during certain parts of this song by utilizing the gear she already had there, but to bring along more equipment/drums would negate the acoustic nature of this particular performance as a whole. Fact is, I personally would've brought along less gear. Lol

What are you talking about Joel?? Dany, Pau & Ale always knows what city or festival they're playing at. They mention the city or festival they are at during show. Why you brought that up. I got no idea except sell some books. About the setting. The band knew it was a *private intermitt ACOUSTIC SHOW* they were playing this day on their European tour. Which they played 5 songs off of KMF. I will agree the snare drum was too loud for this setting. Too bad Pau doesn't play the bongos. Those would be perfect for this setting.
