Villarreal is a common family name around where they live in Mexico. He is the bassist in a Mexican band called Kinky, and a close friend of The Warning
"Campfire song" is very much the vibe. You're walking through a desert at night and you find these artists huddled around a low fire, breathing out this ghostly tune.
A list of all the great things about The Warning would be massive. But surely the individual and ensemble vocals would be near the top. Dany’s quintessential rocker power, Pau’s theatrical leads, screams and ballads, and Ale's buttery smooth backing work. The harmonies are off the charts. Live, no less!
Pau is a soprano, Dany is a mezzo-soprano and Ale is a contralto. How do you get the full range of female voices in the same family? as their manager said, The Warning is a miracle in many senses, this is just one of them.

Normally, Ale does the lower notes doing backup vocals and harmonies. In this song, she’s the one hitting the high notes and Dani went low. The Power Trio doing a beautiful ballad shows the abundance of talent they possess.
So glad you reacted to this - it shows another side to them. Very emotional performance. Pau is such a good vocalist, but those backing vocals and harmonies are killer, and really make the song complete - studio and live!
"The last Warning song you've heard is your new favorite" is a common saying among The Warning Army for a reason! A warning though to keep some tissues ready as this song has been known to reduce many people to tears, myself included.
I think it's been around a decade for me now. I was on youtube searching for new bands to listen to and I found their page. After one listen I played them for my wife and said 'these girls are going places'. The one good thing about youtube is that little-known bands that deserve to blow up can become well-known bands that finally do make it. We don't have a shortage of talent, the record labels have a lack of vision.
The mix is fantastic but if you listen close, Dany is clearly on the right side of the mix and Ale is on the left. Their harmonies are supporting Paulinas vulnerability so well. For Pau to sing so well while so exposed is truly incredible. Emotion pouring out.
Just at the 6min mark, you can hear that left/right split. Dany as singing "AhAhAh" in a higher scale to Pau and Ale is singing the words to the song the same as Pau but in a lower harmony. It is utterly perfect. These girls....

Awesome song! But you want heart strings tugged big time? Breathe from the Error album was a late addition, on the condition that she never had to perform it live, as it's a very emotional song for her. For the band's 10th anniversary show at the Pepsi centre, grateful that 8,000 of so people came to see them, she sang it live, the only time ever in front of an audience. She was sick and her voice wasn't 100%, but that just adds to the experience, she still kills it. He is a well known musician, from the same hometown as the girls and here he is playing a Bajo Quinto, which is a 10-string acoustic bass.
The Warning are top level storytellers, writing songs which can be interpreted in many ways. "Revenant" is someone who comes back from the dead. I think this song perfectly describes autocrat leaders who, through history, keep rising to power. The Warning is one band, among other artists from their generation, who I believe will guide millions of fans towards a better, more hopeful future, insisting on truth.

One of my favorites as well. Really glad you liked it Anthony. They have that secret sauce to make a memorable haunting song like this or grunge or pop or heavy rock, whatever. As they say themselves, they work on a song and give it what IT needs, not what they need, in order to feel it is complete.

Yeah, Pau could front the band and do an outstanding job. Check out Narcisista from the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX concert. Ale has the vocals to do it, but doesn't like being out front. And, omg, the harmonies; absolutely stunning.

The last song of that album is Breath. It´s a song that Pau wrote and she said she would NEVER sing it in front of people. The story goes that the producers needed another song for the album to finish it, Pau didn´t want to put it but they convinced her, well, long story short, in one of the recent venues in Mexico, she got so excited and moved by the audience that she decided to sing it for them as a gift!! You HAVE TO WATCH IT!! It´s a must for a Warning fan! I must warn you 😳 it hits you like a baseball bat into your soul!!
"Campfire song" is a fitting describtion - on the studio version you can actually hear fire crackels ;-) I love this one because it is so deep - it's a good break from the hard rock and show their bandwidth.
You mentioned a campfire song.. If you listen to the studio version it has a cool cracking sound of a campfire or fireplace playing in the background.. The studio version is really brilliant, the harmonies and instrumentally is friggin Awesome 🤘🎶+🌎✌️

The harmonies will kill you. Yes, Pau can lead any band. I always tear up to this one. But this is the beauty of The Warning. They can hit you 50 different ways and you'll find something you love that hits you in the personal feels. I wish they would play more of Pau's songs live. I know it takes a lot out of her but if you're going to have them on the album and they're great songs, people are gonna wanna hear it live.

It never gets old. Pau is a box of Kleenex waiting to get used when she sings a ballad. Dany can do a ballad, too, but Pau has mastered the art of emotive empathy in ways I've never heard before. If you haven't heard her solo at the piano doing Radiohead's *Creep,* check it out. It is better than the original, to my ears. She GETS the lyrical intent of the song, and transmits it accurately. And she went from not knowing the song to recording it on her iPhone in B&W in four hours. It is shocking.
My friend there is another soul song similar to this one is called.. "Crimson Queen " look for it. This are the kind of songs that makes The Warning unique..
If you like the heavier sound. Try the new album. The song Automatic Sun is 🔥. Great production. The whole album is brilliant. Also there is an all girl band from Canada called Freeze the Fall. They are a 3 piece band. Like The Warning. And site them as an influence."One left standing" or Daughter of Witches " are just two song that are worth a listen. Masquerade is another one. If you like The Warning. I think you would like Freeze the Fall. They ROCK.
I think every time Pau decides to include her voice in a song it becomes a cult favorite but in my honest opinion Dannys voice fits the genre of music the play as her voice has evolved and she now has more of growl to her voice. Pau voice can step into an genre but Dann voice is the warning and she be hitting those high notes while switching chords on her guitar which is equal as impressive.
Pau sings ballads and slower songs well but lacks the power and full Rock sound that Dany brings to the aggressive songs. Sharks is a good example of how her voice sounds muffled compared to Dany's.

The intertwined vocal keys sng through this Revenant song is sooooo fire 🔥!! I have two of my originals sung overlapped like this key vocal ingredient and when writing a song it’s just one of those “if the intertwining happens it just happens and DONT LOSE IT because it’s incidentally a masterpiece of an art form that’s rare to unlock when creating”. First listen and my ears are addicted like I’m hypnotized! Lol
In folklore, a revenant is a spirit or animated corpse that is believed to have been revived from death to haunt the living. Pau is believed by many in The Warning Army (TWA) to be singing as a Revenant to the “Dear Boy” who may be her characters murderer. The term “Dear Boy” seems to indicate a familiarity between the victim and perpetrator. Some also believe that the campfire signifies how the “Dear Boy” may have tried to hide his deed while others believe the campfire signifies that the “Dear Boy” is on the run from the authorities and may be hiding in the desert for example. The Revenant is telling “Dear Boy” that he can’t run away from his actions and he will eventually face the consequences in this life or the next. “Dear Boy” is refusing to accept responsibility for his actions by looking for someone else to blame while simultaneously realizing he needs/wants absolution for his sins. Many believe that since DPA attended a bilingual catholic private school that the song is full of religious symbolism but there is no real indication that the band is overly religious even though they do discuss different versions of morality in some of their songs. I tend to believe that this song is just another wonderful creation from Pau’s hyper creative mind just telling a story with some supernatural connotations that the listener can interpret for themselves.
